How does it click in? Do you have to nail it or something to keep it down?
Normally the individual pieces slot into each other and then get nailed down on the ends.
looks good, my home is in need of redecorating, we did our living room floor with oak boards about 2 years ago, still looks epic :). This year tho i am looking at re-doing my bathroom, its the original bathroom from when the house was built in 1984 :S.

No, no nailing, you just click it together and thats it. You aren't meant to secure wooden floor to anything because there needs to be a small gap around the edge - if not when it expands it will bow and lift up in the middle.
One thing I'd offer is put down a rug or something where any office chairs or the like are gonna be; we did ours a few years ago now and the wheels are starting to splinter off the corners of the boards revealing the rather shit looking treated chipboard inside
Is yours V groove - or does it fit edge to edge? I got V groove because I think it's a lot more resistant to the edges getting chipped, or bubbling up.
I don't remember the exact parlance but it definitely was grooved all the way along all sides, a quick google says Yes The top laminate will eventually start to wear down if the wheels keep going over the edges, just like how the edges eventually come up on a scratch resistant cover on your smartphone
I was going to have it as my office when I move my bedroom upstairs - so will defo look into getting a carpet for my chair. It's gonna have to be pretty flat though, I hate not being able to wheel around.
At my desk I have a plastic cover to protect the floorboards. Its slightly more transparent and a bit wider, but it's similar to this: Why not find one of those
Did George Orwell live there?
no hahaha. But the house is crap really, built by proper cowboys, as its semi detached, the main rafter what runs through both homes ends two feet from the external wall, so they just nailed another piece of wood on to it to join it to the external wall :S
Been to wickes, continuing work. Should finish the floor within an hour. [editline]26th February 2011[/editline] Finished laying the floor in this room! Just got to put the skirting board on now and fill the holes. Not gonna bother painting it yet though, will do it when I move upstairs.
No offense to Garry, but this isn't anything spectacular. Quite the opposite.

Skirting is all on. Photos. What I'm using to cut it: I learnt the hard way in the past that when you're putting skirting board on you wanna cut it all and lay it out before you actually screw/glue it to the wall. In the past I've cut a piece, glued it and moved onto the next - and you end up getting yourself in trouble. So here it is all cut and layed out. I do my joins like this, just feels neater. Here's what I'm gluing with.. And glued.. On these joins I put something under it to make sure they're flush together. You can sand the top down if they're crooked - but you can't sand the bottom to make it flush.. so best make sure it's right now. And the other side of the room I fucked up the cut on this piece here - but thought fuck it - it's behind the door, and I can disguise it with filling later. Did the skirting in the hallway too!
Wow nicely done ! What kind of flooring is this ? Hardwood Red Oak ? or maybe White Ash ?
you created a subforum for this?
Just laminate flooring http://www.diy.com/diy/jsp/bq/nav.jsp?action=detail&fh_secondid=9797263
you created a subforum for this?
He owns the forum, he can do whatever the fuck he pleases. :v:
No offense to Garry, but this isn't anything spectacular. Quite the opposite.
you might learn a thing or two, it's actually very practical.
Really liking it so far. Not a fan of laminate flooring though, tends to get "sticky" if you walk on it barefoot and also flexes down if you walk on it with underlay.
flexes down if you walk on it with underlay.
How large are you? Nice one on the flooring, next up you'll be doing decking and swearing your tits off while you accidentally cut through screw-heads in no time
I know nothing about flooring, But so far this was a good read. Maybe when I have a wife and house I'll do this to my house. [editline]26th February 2011[/editline] Who am I kidding? I'm gonna die alone living in a box. :smith:
its funny cause Im a Wood Inspector :) I know lots of shit about wood and whats worth. Dont make fuuuuun of me !!! :(
I poly-filled around the edge last night and let it dry. Time to fill. This is where the skirting board goes from looking like peices of wood glued to the wall to looking more normal. I have somewhat limited knowledge about this but arent you suppose to leave a small gap between the floor and the wall (covered by the skirting boards later)? It's wood right,so you don't want it to expand during hot weather and push against the walls (might cause the whole floor the bend upwards).
Looks good except the door.
