If you would think about this with some reason, the Progenitor Virus was what it was known as before the E. Bola strain was introduced into it, the Progenitor is a plant. It grants the one who consumes it unusually longer life, My corporation, Umbrella, mutated the plant to create the virus that caused the shambling undead that you saw roaming around in (now gone) Raccoon City. I must say though, it was a brilliant chance to study how rapidly the virus spread and what different effects it had upon the unfortunate citizens of that city.
