post rock isn't that great
[editline]05:29PM[/editline]
I mean fuck how do you define it
I whole heatedly disagree with your statement.
Like said before, rock instruments for non-rock purposes. Godspeed makes these long pieces similar to classical music, and Talk Talk makes very sparse ambient songs for example.
Nah, not really.
I love post-punk, but even I have trouble defining it. It's not "progressive" though. It's just... different.
post-punk is more experimental and is blended in with other genres while keeping it's punkiness

Godspeed You! Black Emperor is the weirdest, hardest band for me to listen to, but when I can, I like it a lot. I prefer a lot more... "simple" post rock from God is An Astronaut, or Mogwaii.

French House and Electro House beats all.
Isn't post-punk like, progressive punk? That is, wider range of instrument, toying with odd time signatures etcetera
it can be to an extent. Generally it's just a punk rock mindset without the punk speed or the traditional punk sound in general. It has often incorporated electronic elements and such, which is why it might have a prog rock comparison. Joy Division and Talking Heads are both post-punk, which in itself of the great variety of sounds you can get out of post-punk.

Yeah it does, but I'm a bit sad that much people are connecting these genres to this mainstream shit.
Rock and Heavy Metal
I love Swedish Pop music with a passion.
Metal, but to be honest I'd eventually like to explore other genres as well to the same extent I've explored metal and it's subgenres.

I like anything but generic autotuned RnB. Favourites are Alternative metal (SoaD) and chiptunes/bitpop.

Listened to a couple of tracks, and I must say I like them, but I wouldn't really consider them space-rock, what I mean is using synthesizers and guitar, it's a bit like psychedelic rock.
Yeah they're different styles of rap but they're still both rap (or hip-hop or whatever you want to call it).

They're just two different names for the same thing.
Rap and Hip-Hop fall squarely into 2 categories for me. The main difference is the beats.

There are a few gems in the mainstream but most of it's shit.
Progressive rock and free jazz.
