They can't reproduce, so how would it rape her
I loved this movie. By the way wasn't the alien to have implied to rape lambert? because i kept thinking it would kinda work well with the imagery and theme of the film
Yeah I think that was the idea. People have to keep in mind that when the first Alien movie came out no one knew about the alien life cycle. The way the first movie was edited, there was no way to tell that they were just capturing the humans. Remember the scene with the guy getting the first alien face hugger on his face right out of the egg? There were no other lifeforms nearby for those face huggers to attach to the way there are in the other movies. The fimmakers hadn't developed things that far yet. That's why there is so much sexual tension in the first movie. Part of the ick factor is the idea these sort of humanoid alien thingys were raping the women(and maybe the men too).
They can't reproduce, so how would it rape her
You're taking it literally. The whole original concept of the Alien before they got turned into bugs in Aliens, was a metaphor for rape.
What's the film theyre making now then? A prequel?
One thing that annoyed me in all the Alien films was that there was always a scene where chains would be dangling from the ceiling, but none of the directors thought to have a moment where an Alien's tail would be visible amongst the chains and then snatched up out of sight... When I saw the films through the first time, every time a scene with a room with chains dangling from the ceiling started, I'd think to myself "now they'll do it! Now there'll be an Alien on the ceiling!" But there never was. Still fantastic movies, though. Loved the first two, third one was "meh", and the fourth one? What fourth one? There was no fourth one. Ever.

Started as a straight up prequel to the film, expanded into it's own thing set in the Alien Universe and somehow connected to the film, but not by much apparently.
I always loved the 80's/70's retro spaceship design It was common to all movies of that era, I really dig it
Yeah, i'm pretty much in love with spaceship corridors now. I also had no idea that the Nostromos was towing a refinery the first couple times I saw it. I thought that was the ship, which just confused the shit out of me.
