Cowon or Archon are the only companies to even consider if not going for an iPod in the MP3 player department.
Get a Cowon, great for Music and Video. My brother got one and it's pretty fuckin sweet, you can put an HD movie on there in its original format (no converting) and watch it straight on there, or plug it into an HDTV and watch it in high def. The Cowon S9 is probably what you'd want. Not to mention it's gorgeous:
Why the fuck doesn't it have a phone in it. I mean holy fuck that thing's massive.

And flash capability. [editline]05:32PM[/editline] broke my automerge.
zunes are pretty cool, allthough in my experience they have an amazing ability to brick without warning [editline]07:40PM[/editline] customer support replaced it though, so no real harm done
Zune. Rate me clock. Also by the way my zune has never bricked, ever.
Man, i used to love my Zune, had so much music cause of the Zune pass... Unfortunately, since i use 2 computers for my music, i never sync it to one computer. My Zune started to sync itself one day and started to randomly delete all my music whenever i plugged it in to charge. Now my iPod is starting to have issues too though.... :(((
I'd get an iPod, but I hate iTunes. And it acts all funny when I use it.
Winamp can be used to transfer to and from iPods, so can some other media players I believe.
