It's so stupid. No, its fucking retarded. Who's bright idea was it to compare a flamethrower to a RPG? Oh, and they judge based on how the people on the show compete. Like, when they had the Spetznas against the SWAT or whatever it was (the American guys), they judged things like the better pistol by how well the guys shot. But yet I continue to watch it :< It baffles me. Oh and the computer simulation thing is fucking retarded. Jesus.
The VC vs Waffle SS is so stupid, why aren't the SS using STGs and why aren't the VCs using AKs?
[QUOTE=evilweazel;22035425]The VC vs Waffle SS is so stupid, why aren't the SS using STGs and why aren't the VCs using AKs?[/QUOTE] I already said that. [editline]11:01PM[/editline] I swear the Nazi Waffen-SS [I]better[/I] win this. [editline]11:04PM[/editline] Fuck yeah, SS FTW.
Heh, anyone else notice that the Waffen guy was shooting a PPSh-41 throughout the show? And where's the rifles?
Fun to watch? Yes. Realistic and scientific? No. Watching the Mafia vs. Yakuza. They're comparing a P38 to a sawn off shotgun and it seems like they're drawing their conclusions based solely on stopping power. It's ridiculous. Also, the baseball bat was bullshit. I'd rather some asshole with a bat come at me than a guy with nunchaku who knows how to use them. [editline]12:13AM[/editline] I was actually surprised that the P38 blew out the entire back of the skull in one shot. The thing's a 9mm. [editline]12:19AM[/editline] And then the guy in the end of the actual fight wins as though a thug with a switchblade has a snowball's chance in hell against a guy who is trained to use bladed weapons [editline]12:39AM[/editline] Are they seriously comparing a flamethrower and an RPG? What the holy fuck? [editline]12:42AM[/editline] Not to mention the whole comparison is moot since the RPG-7 was in MUCH wider use in the IRA than the flamethrower. And the IRA used the AK-47 as well. The IRA had access to all the same weapons as the Taliban. [editline]12:42AM[/editline] I think this whole show is for trolling nerds
[QUOTE=Joefrert;22035838]Heh, anyone else notice that the Waffen guy was shooting a PPSh-41 throughout the show? And where's the rifles?[/QUOTE] Yeah, though Germany used captured PPSh-41's, that's not the weapon they compared in the tests. They probably just decided to use it and figured no-one would really notice. Also, there were Riflemen present, but seeing as the rifles they held weren't part of the tests, they were more or less cosmetic. [QUOTE=JohnnyMo1;22036550]Not to mention the whole comparison is moot since the RPG-7 was in MUCH wider use in the IRA than the flamethrower. And the IRA used the AK-47 as well. [QUOTE=Mr. Someguy;22037119]Well each side having the same weapons isn't that interesting, but yeah, a Flamethrower to an Anti-Tank weapon is a bad comparison.[/QUOTE] But stupid comparison aside, giving an edge to a side for a weapon that the other side has just as widespread access to (and used far more often than the weapon being compared) is silly.
[QUOTE=The Winner;22033817]and a predictable cinematic at the end.[/QUOTE] I don't know what you are talking about, they pulled a fucking M.Night.Shamylan in the SWAT vs GSG9 video. How the fuck did the Swat member unlock the truck and why?
The results can piss me off sometimes But I still enjoy the show
God the Shaolin episode is fucking awesome [editline]02:11AM[/editline] Okay I lol'd when he said, "The computer's probably Chinese."
Next episode is Roman Centurion vs. some guerilla indian type people. God help me if the Centurion loses...
Bump due to new episode. Just watching it trough internet.
[QUOTE=Mudbone;22031228]In reality most of the hits Al Capones gang did were close range with a sawed off shotgun. One of al's guys would just walk into a salon and shoot up the place with a shotgun or tommy gun and take out everyone before anyone could pull their six shooters.[/QUOTE] It took 1/4 of a second to pull a six shooter and fire it. Nobody can react to something that fast. [editline]07:37PM[/editline] [QUOTE=Run&Gun12;22065796]Next episode is Roman Centurion vs. some guerilla indian type people. I'm really looking forward to the episode 2 weeks from now. I want the Celt to win, simply due to my Scottish heritage :v:

[QUOTE=Uberman77883;22203571]The Rajput were one of the most feared Warrior Caste families in India. Indians weren't Guerilla. Fucking dumbed-down shit. [editline]01:42AM[/editline] [QUOTE=Run&Gun12;22216804]Do you think that if I already knew stuff about, them I would've called them by name? If you don't know shit about them, don't bother making horribly opinionated statements.
were katars really that effective in the old days? I thought that was some dumb diablo 2 shit, but the way it pierced through the chain mail like paper was fucking scary
Why were the SS using such old weapons? I always thought that the main arsenal for the Waffen SS were like...Mp40's, MG42's, StG44's, luger thingys, K something bolt rifle, and the panzerfaust. This show is dildoes. What the fuck man...no Tiger tank? this show is serious dildoes.
and why are the experts so fanboyish? the german waffen ss dude sounds like he's forcing the accent
I'm still catching up on these episodes but a lasso vs a 12-foot-long spear? sharpened bamboo sticks vs a flamethrower? WHAT THE FUCK MAN?
[QUOTE=The Winner;22030849]I personally dislike this show, because all they do is pit brute force against stealth and intelligence, and stealth and intelligence always wins, so it's actually easy to predict who will win.[/QUOTE] This is based on combat situations, not overall outcome. I really like the Spetsnaz Green Berets one where the Green Beret is constantly acting like douche to get his point across and the Spetsnaz is keeping his cool and looking pro.
I think it's funny that sometimes they don't even show the weapon they're testing correctly. The HKG3 sniper rifle is apparently an g36. Also, the aks-74u isn't a carbine, it's just an ak74 with a folding stock! really now? :raise: But other than that, the show is entertaining but shouldn't be taken seriously.
I'm sure they dumb it down, I mean, a lot of the time they change situations when comparing weapons.
[QUOTE=erazor;22224143]Fucking dumbed-down shit. [editline]01:42AM[/editline] You don't need a fetish to understand pretty basic Indian history. The only time I had a glimpse of them was the commercial, and even then I tuned into it about halfway through, so it's not like I had a good understanding of what they looked like.
How the heck does a pirate beat a knight? I know the armour wasn't really built to beat bullets (since they weren't common back then), but the pirate's chances of winning is next to none, especially since who would bring two flintlocks and shotgun whilst looking for treasure? If someone attacks, you'd run away and fire a couple of shots, presumably in a group. Knights had a 20/1 chance of winning, and the pirate won because a computer said so, so the whole mock-up was literally mocked up. It's a random chance and the Pirate happened to win, so I'm gonna stop complaining. -1 Balista/Axe - First off, this is a very odd choice for obvious reasons. - Alright well this is looking good, I might suggest an indoor environment to avoid wind but that's alright. - Balistas were used in more great numbers, they rained spears upon enemies. - Good god you are comparing a fucking axe to a balista, what is wrong with you? - Impressive an axe that cut's through meat, now why are you comparing an axe to a balista. -2 Crossbow/Bow - Ok first you are making the same mistake AGAIN with Alexander the great. - The crossbows should be used in great numbers - Who the fuck let these variables in. - They should have placed the weapons in a mount to determine their accuracy. -3 Spear/Lasso - Alright test, you could place the spear in a mounted grip but the test is good. - Why are you testing a Lasso against a spear?! - At this point you have invalidated the entire test -4 Swords - You know how scientists try to avoid variables? - Not us, we will put a slab of meat on a rope connected to a spinning device. - I raged at this point, they gave it to Atila the Hun because Alexanders sword did not cut in the same way. Even though they had it on a spinning contraption. - I would also like to point out that Atila will win this test because he gets to go first. The chances of getting the same cut as the first with that device is too fucking low. -5 End cinematic -Too much wrong with this.

They shown that the knight's armour would have stopped the bullets [other then him being hurt] and he would have had a shield aswell. They also only tested the grenade on a pig, and counted that as the knight loosing.
Let me sum up the Aftermath episodes *Question on weapons* - Well this is a show for entertainment - Fanboy: defends results *Question who they thought would win* - I was suprised when _____ won - Fanboy: I was not surprised by these results *Question about weapons* - Well we consider ourselves to be a scientific show (explanation) *preview next episode* Also this was basically the explanation for the Bastila. " Well we had this bastila and we got the highest readings ever on the show from it that we had to include it. It was the brain child of Alexander the Great and his strategy was adapting to changes and that this attacking of a fort with one bastila may potentially be -inane babble-" Also I want to jam a spear into that Atila the Hun fanboy. When they talked about how Atila the Hun was defeated by someone similar to Alexander the Great he said. "There is a big difference between defeat and a tactical retreat" He then went on to spout some BS about how the battle is highly disputed.
