Well, unfortunately the injured bird died last night. Not much of a surprise though, it wasn't doing very well and hadn't eaten very much. The other one is doing just fine though, eating plenty of food and is very active and vocal.

Do you have any experience caring for baby birds?
The best thing you can do is give it to a shelter if there is one near.
Nearly every bird i have rescued has died.
:saddowns:
You should try washing them
You should try washing them

I gave them a bath using a toothbrush and paper towels so they aren't quite so messy now, but they were both getting very annoyed with me so I'll get the rest of it next time.
That's sweet, it's kind of you to save them like that and put so much effort into making sure they're given what they need.
I had a pigeon too! I found it on the strret in Amsterdam and then I cared for it and it learned to fly and everything so usually it slept at my side but then one night i rolled onto it and then I suffocated it and then I cried.

Nope, I've never cared for a baby bird. I'm not completely inexperienced caring for animals though, my own pet is an Argentine Black and White Tegu, they also demand a specialized diet. Though you don't hand feed a Tegu, that's what you call "feeding them your hand".
Right now I have the bird in an old 60 gallon tank with a wire mesh top that my Tegu lived in when she was a baby. There's a heat lamp at one end, the heat lamp is only on at night though since it gets plenty of warmth during the day and the bird can move back and fourth depending how hot or cold it is. The substrate is just pine shavings.
D'aw nice one man
I was gonna attempt to feed a hurt bird that my cat brought in once but while I was getting food he came back for seconds :saddowns:

He's obviously waiting till they grow to their full size for maximum meat intake.
Nice job saving em, makes me glad you aren't some dick that just fucked with em.
I saved a baby squirrel a few years back, we named him rocky. We kept him for a while and let him go after a year or less
Manly tear, noooo.
Oh well we need to name him/her in order to remember the loss

Go for it, I hadn't named either of them. Definitely needs a name instead of referring to it as "the bird" or "it" though.
I'm sorry but clip your fucking nails it's making me quite sick for some odd reason.
so cute :3

I was out working on a musket lock, I get metal filings and mill scale under them all the time.
May be handicapped in the wild when you release them. They would never have been taught how to survive.

It may help you raise them or help think of ideas on how to train them to eat/drink like a normal bird.
