Oh shit you know what I look like
This doesn't China's pixel artwork maps :v:
But this is still very awesome.
A lot of the buildings look melted. You'd think they could run some code over the map that worked out whether something was a building or not.. and then work out the probability of it being square.. then just make it square.
Seems like it would use a lot less vertices if they squared off stuff like this. Saving bandwidth and rendering power.
I'm thinking someday we'll look back on this stage of 3D mapping and laugh at how amazing we thought it was at the time... which is kind of scary really

Do it for them.
Now the only thing that is missing is full real time footage from the satellite and not just pictures.
That would be the best shit ever!
Now implant planes.
Then implant weapons on the planes and multiplayer.

And destructive terrain.
If it's all capitals of countrys/states why is Sydney there? ITS NOT THE CAPITAL DAMNIT.
It's the future already
This is amazing!

The coliseum is pretty flat today huh? :v:
This is pretty awesome, but there seems to be one issue with the 3D:
They didn't do it to Disney World. :v:
Holy fuck, they have Melbourne. Sweet!
It seems to have some problems with objects that curve inward as they go down. such as bridges between buildings and trees.
snip
fuck it

Sydney needs to repave their roads
This is interesting, but not really useful considering the rather small amount of places that actually have the 3d. I'm also rather unimpressed with their 3d algorithm. It might work better on terrain, but it doesnt seem to work that well in cities from what I noticed.
I want to repeat my question: Where did they get the images from?

Space.

I remember you, hl2poo. Way back in the day.
As for the technique being better for terrain, I'll have to agree on that. The Hollywood Hills look fantastic compared to the actual city of Los Angeles.
They got Vienna in Austria, I like it.
In a couple of years you'll be able to move around the world freely in 3D .

You can do that already. Its called RL.
Mean while in in Australia
cars are flat

Quick someone find the place in Oslo that was attacked.

How about you find the door and get out?
Hey, my city is in there, I wonder if I can rip the 3d model and import it into vice city or something.
I am pretty sure it's in Open GL. You need an Open GL ripper. There was one but I tried it and I don't think it worked.

This is my cue to start trying every piece of ripping software I have to get the models.
The World is melting...
Netherlands is all flat even if it has huge buildings.
