I am pretty sure that I am more Left Authoritarian, there are just not enough questions.
Holy shit, I am almost exactly where Ghandi is.
I hate "Abstract" or "Modern" art, it's perversing the ideals of what is considered art to our future generations. No skill or talent is needed in Modern Art, and it's straying away from the true definition of art.
Don't talk about art, you're not an artist and you don't know what you're talking about
Don't talk about art, you're not an artist and you don't know what you're talking about
Art does not provide as much of a benefit as lets say science. Especially modern art. Not to say it's a detriment, but it is certainly not something for major government support.
i wanna see your answers :V
i just tried to be as evil as possible
I was slightly to the right of Ghandi.
Art does not provide as much of a benefit as lets say science. Especially modern art. Not to say it's a detriment, but it is certainly not something for major government support.
and why not? what makes "modern art" any less worthwhile than other types..?
You're over the border, compadre.
socialism would be good if it didn't have all the socialism
Shut up gummylamb you're an idiot.
You know, I'm technically right, 2/3 of the alternatives to the green square are close to fascism, but I'll take back saying that conservatives are idiots.
Quite odd, I always thought i was conservative. Oh well, I'm different on many issues.
I guess I'm not as neutral as I once thought.

The Dalai Lama's a pretty cool guy.
Art does not provide as much of a benefit as lets say science. Especially modern art.
oh wow, another person who thinks art can be defined how original i'm sure it doesn't take talent or skill to make picaso paintings
The original argument wasn't about Picasso paintings, or similar abstract pieces, because THOSE HAVE MEANING. I think he's talking about those splashes of paint on a piece of cardboard that sell for over several million dollars. What's the point to those? Where's the soul there? The artist just dumped a pot of paint over a canvas. Where's the effort? I'm loath to say that Jackson Pollock isn't part of this, but he at least puts some effort into it.
I can spend several hours making something shitty. Effort is irrelevant. The "point" of art like throwing paint over a canvas can be anything. It could be a statement about how life is not as orderly and crafted as some suppose, or a rebellion against the current conceptions of what a painting should be. The fact people pay millions for it is no fault of the artist. Hell, even by making a "meaningless" piece of art, you are making a statement.
Pretty much where everyone else is-
Art is different things to different people. Someone could look at a cube and think it represents perfect order and stability while someone else could look at that same cube and think it represents rigidity and unwillingness to adapt. The more abstract you get, the more wildly the opinions could vary. Splashes of paint on a paper plate are just that to me...splashes of paint on a paper plate. Someone else could think it's a statement of religious institutions in the world today, or the Gulf oil spill, or Sarah Palin's rise to fame.
I'm pretty much a commie anarchist according to it.
