I'm a lot smarter than OP but I'm not telling it to him or showing it Because I'm so smart that way :v:
One rule to defeat trolls: "If you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all." Platitudes are great. Same with cliches. Alot of people just hate them because most of them are true.
I agreed with you until you started talking about love. You're probably in high school. Stop pretending you know anything about it. [editline]04:09PM[/editline] Also you're not special, you're just arrogant.
"If you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all."
But how will errors ever get corrected?
People who are told to "be themselves" and resist peer pressure tend to be less well-adjusted then those to tend to go with the flow. You see, it's science! Also, love is completely chemically created in our brains, get over it. I don't get how people can be so smart yet so abnormally socially retarded. As a side note, if you dispute that love is a creation of our brains then you must be stupid, because love is an evolutionary trait created so that the father and mother of a child would stay together to protect and raise the child until it could live on its own with no issues. Thus, love is a primal deal as a result of our increased time to develop to adults.
The ability to comprehend and contemplate this sort of thing as an individual virtually proves sentience, and with sentience comes emotion, among them, love. If love is ONLY a chemical in the brain, then nothing is sentient (Because then all other thought would be controlled purely by chemicals). Nobody is thinking by themselves. Except they are. Somehow there is a consciousness that is not tied physically to our brain. Nothing in the brain alone is capable of even simulating the complexity of human intelligence. So guess what? You're wrong. Love may be triggered by a chemical reaction, but after that, sentient thought takes it over.
You're so smug you like the smell of your own farts. Seriously, you're just socially inept, and you're too arrogant to accept it, so you put it down to you being better than everyone else. Also, i smoke and i don't smoke to be cool. I smoke because I'm addicted, and i can hold my breath for a minute +. The chances of getting cancer as a 40+ year smoker are 17.5%, and i plan on quitting in a year, so I'll take my chances. And you don't drink to 'fit in' or because of the taste, you drink because the effect it gives you is fun, so long as you don't drink too much or you're in a bad mood when you do it.

(I'm not claiming to know everything about the mind/thought and I sure as hell am not an expert on the subject.)
Intelligience does not alienate you. One of my friends is a genius and lots of people like him. It's a matter of working around barriers, or just not being an asshole.
Emotion is what drives us to the edge, it's what takes us to the top. You can't just exclude emotion. You know what feeling of accomplishment, that's an emotion, and that's what makes you want to succeed even more. Love is a lot more than "a chemical"; It's a fantastic journey, of which nothing else can give the same effect. Feel the love maan Don't become a machine, Japan's constructing them already. OH BUT WAIT THEY'RE ADAPTING EMOTION TO THEM TOO [editline]11:27PM[/editline] It is also evident by you're posting style that emotion is taking control over you. Easy to control eh?
That post has me seriously wondering if have a lack of ability to experience emotions. I honestly don't understand most emotions when people try to explain them to me. Nor do I understand how certain actions can lead to emotional responses, unless in extreme cases. My cat I grew up with for 16 years died and I buried him that day without feeling anything besides it seeming odd that he wasn't around any more. My husky which I loved to death and raised for the 1st 9 months of his life, I had to sell because I was moving, and I didn't feel anything from it. I miss him being here and regret the choice but it doesn't make me sad. Do I need to talk to a doctor or a psychologist about this?
Intelligence doesn't alienate you. Your arrogant belief that you are better than everyone else/thinking you shouldn't waste time with them does.
You're just a manly man who doesn't feel pain.
I was hoping for a serious answer. And no, I'm pretty effeminate.
Of course thought is tied to a physical thing. How could it exist otherwise? (I'm not claiming to know everything about the mind/thought and I sure as hell am not an expert on the subject.)
I didn't mean it didn't carry physical ties but the brain alone doesn't envelope its entire existence and nothing else in the body is capable of providing the extra support.
I didn't mean it didn't carry physical ties but the brain alone doesn't envelope its entire existence and nothing else in the body is capable of providing the extra support.
You're not trying to imply some kind of soul, are you?
There is not space big enough on this planet for your elitist ego.
the brain alone doesn't envelope its entire existence
Uh, yes it does. Everything we've ever known exists in temporary electrical impulses between neurons. It's like RAM. Without the R.
As IQ increases, logic increases. As IQ decreases, emotions accommodate. It's just people's interpretations of the world. Those without IQ are no worse, juts different. The problem with most people is being uninformed. This is why I think things like psychology and sociology should be required, because knowing about ourselves is a good thing. People are equal in a way, as in we are have specialty in different areas. And don't chastise people for their choices, because they can live their life the way they want, because that is the purpose of life. "I think it's alright, that I do what I like, because that's the way I want to live. And so I give, and I'm still giving". As long as people make an effort to be a good person they qualify as good. If they don't try to be good, then I don't see them in the equal category.
any legitimate social problems arising from large disparities in intelligence will vanish as you age and should pose no problem as you reach maturity, OP is just overly pompous
You're not trying to imply some kind of soul, are you?
No, I'm sure there's some awesome scientific explanation for it, we just haven't found it yet.
:words:
Unwarranted self-importance. Congratulations! You think you're better than everybody, but don't worry, I still look down upon you.
Unwarranted self-importance. Congratulations! You think you're better than everybody, but don't worry, I still look down upon you.
The thing I don't understand is why you won't let him think this way about himself? I mean, how does it affect you? It is called self-esteem, and the way you choose to interpret yourself should be up to yourself shouldn't it? Personally while I do not know enough about the OP to make a judge on what type of person he is, I must say that I certainly support him feeling good about himself (though this does not or should not involve looking down on others), and everyone should feel at least a bit good about themselves!
Your stupid. You talk like your smart but your stupid.
That spelling mistake actually only gives some naive, honest emphasis to your point.
Everybody feels like that at some point. I thought most of that shit for a while, but eventually I realized how much of a dumbass I was being. I'm guessing you're around 13-14 years in age, that's around the time that everybody thinks that. You'll get over it soon, and when you do you'll look back and think "what the fuck was I thinking". I guarantee it. If you honestly believe that someone is being stupid and inconsiderate, don't loathe them, pity them. Chances are that if they don't straighten themselves up before college then they'll be stuck with a shitty future.
Everybody feels like that at some point.
lolno, I never did this and I bet lots of people can say the same
The thing I don't understand is why you won't let him think this way about himself? I mean, how does it affect you? Balance is harmony.
Hey, drinking is cool. From my experiences, it helps socializing greatly. And it's not even that harmful.
Hey, drinking is cool. From my experiences, it helps socializing greatly. And it's not even that harmful.
Depends on the amount, but I tend to agree.
There's a difference between being able to recognise that you're smart and... well, you. You're a pretentious, self-righteous jackass. Boo-fucking-hoo, you've been alienated from almost everyone because of who you are. Get over it. It's not like you're the only one in that boat. Half of the fucking forum has probably been through that (hence why most of us probably wound up here). I've never really fit in with most people, but the good thing is, the people who I am friends with and who do like me are really good, kind, decent people. If everyone else is going to treat me like a dick for no reason then fuck them. I don't want to fit in with them if that's the way they are.
We're not judging him by his lack of girlfriend. We're saying that people who claim that "love isn't real" or is just "a chemical in the brain", have obviously never experienced love and are sad people for assuming that just because they haven't found it means that it doesn't exist. Especially something as obviously existent as love. Also, I'm pretty sure OP isn't a troll. He wouldn't be defending himself so much if he was. He's legit. Which is worse.
Love is just a chemical in the brain, but that doesn't mean the feelings are any less true.
Oh god, i laughed so hard. OP.. Drinking is cool, smoking is 50/50, sex is great. You are blocking out life if you haven't tried this. Tool!
I'm a very straight forward person, as-in I don't sugar code stuff.
This caused me to disregard all of your post. If one is as smart as you think you are, this mistake does not happen.
