nah steelbooks are way cooler, fuck cheap. [editline]02:17AM[/editline] you can't make something that thin, and all one piece of plastic, and have it good quality. the design is just inherently bad quality.
Well, the thin ones have a really shitty quality.
To be honest I like the cases you call 'amaray' cases. They're quite sturdy, have a nice size, and it looks so awesome if you have a few of them next to eachother. They are big enough to store booklets and information with the cd/dvd and I've never ever seen a disk broken because of that case. You probably whammed it in too hard and made it crack just outside of the holding ring.
I find them unnecessarily large. It made sense during the PS2 days when they had memory card holders in them, but not anymore. The clasps can wear out and they'll stop closing eventually, as well.
it's much easier to hijack or lose an account than rob a house, ergo i would rather have physical copies of things.
Like with The Police, you have Steam Support.
Well, the thin ones have a really shitty quality.
that's not thin. the one i'm holding is thin. take a look at the screenshot cheesemonkey posted of it's spine
I know of a better way of storing games.
Until you have to download 160GB of games from Steam's unbearably slow servers (like, 20kb/s), or you are left without internet for a while.
I don't understand why people want less plastic on their cases. People put effort into designing it so it actually works. Instead of using less plastic, just use a bio-degradable plastic and make sure the plastic will be recycled. I like the DVD cases. The plastic doesn't break as fast (although it can if you drop it), it looks fine and offers space for extra stuff besides the manual (kinda like what they did with some DS game boxes adding a thingy for gameboy games).
Until you have to download 160GB of games from Steam's unbearably slow servers (like, 20kb/s), or you are left without internet for a while.
this, except that i get local isp servers which are over 1mb/s
that's not thin. the one i'm holding is thin. take a look at the screenshot cheesemonkey posted of it's spine
Yeah, I know. It has a really good quality, it's pretty old tho.
I love these disc cases It holds discs securely you you just have to push down the lever to get it out.
this, except that i get local isp servers which are over 1mb/s
The problem is that Steam's servers don't allow me to download so fast (I should download at 1.6MB/s), because their servers are evidently over loaded. I just wish they upped the capacity on them, it's the only problem I have with Steam (and the 1€=1$ thing).
Yeah, I know. It has a really good quality, it's pretty old tho.
even good quality cases that small feel cheap. people are so used to seeing knock off products sold or distributed in these small cases that everyone associates it with bad quality or fakes. op's idea will never catch on. might be better if they were say, clear, and sturdier.
I love these disc cases It holds discs securley you you just have to push down the lever to get it out.
Agreed, but DVD/CD should have a fucking built-in case like DVD-RAM has in the version in a cartridge. 1) Never a scratched Disk 2) Easier to store
Until you have to download 160GB of games from Steam's unbearably slow servers (like, 20kb/s), or you are left without internet for a while.
That's why you buy a 1TB external Hard drive and store all the games as a backup on the hard drive. [editline]04:44PM[/editline]
agreed, but dvd/cd should have a fucking built-in case like dvd-ram has in the version in a cartridge. 1) never a scratched disk 2) easier to store
usb?
these always did the job for me.
The middle part that holds the disk always breaks. I hate the cases that are nearly impossible to get the disk out, I almost have to snap Rainbow Six: Vegas 2 to get it out of it's case.
even good quality cases that small feel cheap. people are so used to seeing knock off products sold or distributed in these small cases that everyone associates it with bad quality or fakes. op's idea will never catch on. might be better if they were say, clear, and sturdier.
Indeed. But if this case is cheaper, eventually the people will but the cheap case. They should make a good quality eco-friendly case. I believe it is possible.
usb?
Semiconductors still cost a bit more than a DVD would. And cheap ones are damaged more easily. This is what I mean.

At least you can throw away a dvd case and replace it.
I also have some of those half-size dvd cases:
That's a lot of CD cases.
These are the best.
Are they expensive? They look like they are.
I'm really digging that photoshopped case you made. In all seriousness you should present it to a CD case manufacturing company.
.

I think some of the aesthetics of disk cases are purely for advertising sakes. If you bought a game and left the shop with a paper sleeve and a disk, (i wouldn't care tbh) but alot of people might. People like to feel themselves purchasing it. It's like, direct to drive is cheaper, but people will still go out and buy hard copies for similar reasons. However, i like the design you came up with.

If the virtual copies / shitprinted DVDs were half the price, it would be another thing.
Wow I never realized the improvements in something so underappreciated.
I also have some of those half-size dvd cases:
seriously where did you get those if you don't need them you could ship a couple to my house :buddy: wait you're in england aren't you
pictures
It made me sad seeing all those strewn about on the floor. I'm not sure why. :frown: I've always been a fan of the boxes the games come in. Especially with games that actually fill up the box with lots of reading material and extras. :shobon:
I remember a game from long ago called Sheep, which I was addicted to like a mad man. One time, I wanted to play it again. However, I put too much force on the CD and it broke. My life drastically changed. :suicide:
these always did the job for me.
I don't know how, but I somehow managed to cut my palm real bad on the brittle plastic from those cases. anyways. Has OP ever used those single cd cases that are made of plastic, circular form fitting design, and on a long single hinge? I'll try to find an image of it but I liked those cases.
