Legit going to stop doing drugs now, it's killing my gains. I stopped drinking because of exercise, time for the full monty. It's such a positive influence in my life jesus christ
Gonna hit legs tonight, not gonna go too hard because I feel like shit and I don't want to poop myself squatting.
Guys, I deadlifted 50kg today for 5 sets of 5 reps :') Seeing as before I couldn't deadlift cause my legs were too weak, and I've only been lifting for 3 weeks. I am proud. FELT SO GOOD, SUCH A RAW EXERCISE.
this is a great attitude to have
its really not about the amount you lift, it's about the challenge relative to you and your current state
i wish more people understood that lifting is about breaking your personal barriers. if benching 95 lbs is fucking hard for you then holy shit, great! work towards 100, 105 lbs.
on a related note, it seems that condensing WTF into this megathread in GD has brought more attention to lifting. perhaps it was a good improvement overall?
will smoking greatly impact my gains? I'm gonna kick the habit but it'd suck so bad if all this work I'm putting in is getting hugely negated by smoking.
I mean, I'm seeing progress, and I'm going up in weights and I'm hitting 3k cals a day so I should be good, yeah?

Loopoo wtf you doing smoking, fuck yes it will affect your gains ditch that shit! The gym is now your stress reliever!

Smoking what?
I don't think smoking cigs or cannabis should really hurt gains. Nicotine is an diet suppressant though so it makes it harder to eat.

If you are going to have smoke vaporize marijiquana for minimal affect on gains. Cigarettes.... really? How are people going to know you are a gym bro? If someone sees you with a cigarette in one hand and a shaker bottle in the other they are just going to think you like to make yourself mixed drinks on the go??
not cannabis, just normal cigs.
I'll be kicking the habit but if it doesn't have real bad negative impacts, there's no rush, so that's good.

thankfully I'm like a fat person trapped in a skinny body so even though I can feel that smoking suppresses appetite, I still wrangle that bitch down and devour food anyways.
I'ma kick the habit. just wanted to know if I had to do it ASAP or if I could take my time with it.

We're also getting less broscientists than when we were in our own subforum somehow.
loopoo why not quit asap? obviously don't drop smoking all together just ween yourself off, and i imagine going to the gym will relieve the stress
i used to smoke socially when out drinking and regret that never mind being an actual smoker
Good bench today, did 135x10 warmup, 165x8, 185x6, 185x6, then said fuk rep limits and did 225x7, then a 165x12 pause rep burnout.
GOd damnit I love lifting hahah
[editline]23rd January 2015[/editline]
I've been lifting with a bunch of buddys from my football team lately and it just makes it so much better, since we also have the school weight room just to our team 3 days a week, can talk about whatever, play whatever music, don't have to deal with people stealing benches or squat racks or what have you.

Enjoy lifting with your football buddies some of the best memories are made in the weight room.
I miss H.S. football. :(
Ah yes, weight room memories.
Hearing the primal grunts of the bulked french guy sitting on the bench press next to me as he does 1 rep at 300 lbs.
Of course after I said that I seriously almost shit myself squatting last night but hey I finally started breaking parallel so that's neat.
What weighted ab exercises do you guys do? All I do anymore are cable crunches and decline situps with a 25lb plate. I fuckin hate abs because I hate sitting there doing 50 reps of unweighted shit.
Rich Piana's arms look nasty
What the fuck
Rich Piana's arms look nasty

Well he's basically made of steroids. Plus cali sun.

synthol
A roided dude still has natural looking musculature because its well, natural despite a seemingly popular belief. synthol is quit literally oil, massive amounts injected into the tissue distorts the shape and definitions of muscles.
steroids:

Synthol:

Notice how the latter just looks like an abscess (and probably is at that point, you poke his arm with a big needle guarantee your going to get pus oozing)
Obviously rich piana's synthol use isn't that dramatic, but thats why certain parts of his body look like absolute shit.
I went to the gym for the first time in forever on Wednesday with a buddy from work.
We did back stuff (Dumbbell Row, Hyperextensions, etc.) and I've got DOMS like a motherfucker in my biceps. I can't extend my arms past 90 degrees without excruciating pain. I also can't hold them close to my body.
Scrub life. Gotta love getting back into it.
you know you nailed that shit when you get DOMS for days and then the stretch marks comes in and you know you're just exploding too fast
just nailed 528 deadlift today, besides that you all seem like genuine people. Dedication, commitment and community, that's what it's all about.
we're all gonna make it brahs
considering getting weightlifting shoes, any recommendations?
budget is about €100
My fat allowance per day is 80g. I've just had a 179g avocado and it has a whopping 34 grams, albeit of monounsatured fat which is the good stuff. Dafuq am I meant to do? It's made it so eating other stuff is gonna be difficult to avoid hitting the fat allowance.
Dont worry too much about things like that, if your aiming for weight loss its an art not a science.
You eat p much whatever on a given week, see if you've lost weight, if so, great stuff keep doing what your doing, if not cut something out of your diet and check again next week. Same applies for bulking and maintenance.
That being said gains of +/- ~1lb a week are not all that accurate due to errors in weighing scales so you need to keep track of the big picture. Gained a lb this week? doesnt matter all that much if you've been consistently losing weight the past few weeks and you havent changed your diet.

I'm not trying to lose weight. I'm actually bulking at the moment, but my PT told me that my fat goal is 80g per day. I was just surprised an avocado was 34g of fat.
[editline]23rd January 2015[/editline]
I lol'd when I realised all the McDees and KFC I've been having had me overshooting that goal by like 50g or something. fuck.
Decided from now I'm going to get my diet on point, since I have the macro goals to hit so I have something to aim for. Just had like 1kg of mixed fruit and veggie, feeling like a boss.
