Elbow pain on dips is relatively common, especially if your just starting off. Don't worry too much about it, just keep focusing on form. And don't work through intense PAIN, that's a recipe for disaster.
Weighted dips are the best

Alright. I stopped pretty much because I'd thought intense pain was probably not what I was going for, but it's less every workout. I'll keep trying.
What programs are you all running at the moment? Just switched to a modified "Greyskull" (2x5, 1x5+)
Brain dropping here but long term plan for this school year is maintain 237-242lbs and gain as much mass as possible without adding any additional fat. When the year wraps up and i'm finished with the track season I'm going to go on a 8 week cut. Want to see how lean I can get.
the dining hall at my school makes me physically ill, i wanna stick my dick in homecooked food and live in it forever

Not much to you guys but it's good for me

1 workout later and the pain (in the elbows) is completely gone and I can do 3x4...this is bizarre. Must've been a nervous system thing.
Idk what it is, I get it from throwing a shot put if I haven't in a few weeks, but then the next day it's gone, very odd.
Cutting fucking sucks. I just wanna eat food lmao
what would you guys consider to be thin for a 190cm tall male? if you think of a person who doesn't lift weights and has a low body fat percentage? I started at 102.5kg and I'm now at 87.7kg. my goal is 80kg. I'd think that 7.7kg above that would look a lot thinner, but I'm far off from my ideal body right now when thinking of amount of fat. there's still too much fat around. I'm wondering if I should pursue 70kg instead. I suppose I'll see when I hit 80kg as I'll have to hit that weight before I hit 70kg anyway, but it would be nice to know what to expect I suppose so I can mentally prepare to sit in this for longer than I originally intended. would be a huuuge disappointment if I hit 80kg and I still find that I'm too fat
knee tendonitis just came back in full force, fucking great
knee tendonitis just came back in full force, fucking great
I feel ur pain bruh, patellar tendinitis in both my knees, and also in my hamstring tendon. Shit sucks dick
So I never lifted heavy weights before
Started reading Starting Strength by Mark Rippetoe
I don't have to eat a billion calories like this book says to do right? I want to burn body fat first of all, I weigh like 185 and I am almost 6ft so I am not super fat, but I still want to trim it. I was just told to read this book and start out with this program. But I was also told I needed to count calories to burn body fat.

A calorie restricted diet will make you lose weight, even if you don't exercise. But yes, you can follow the program on a diet and you'll probably gain some muscle in the process, which increases the amount of calories you burn per day - making it easier to lose weight.

Weight, aside from its extremes, generally isn't enough to tell - amount of muscle can make a huge difference. More important is fat percentage, which can be determined with a pair of calipers. This page shows what your percentage corresponds to: http://www.builtlean.com/2010/08/03/ideal-body-fat-percentage-chart/
But really, the easiest way to tell is to look in the mirror. If you don't like what you see, you just keep losing weight until you do. Though you will be looking very skinny if you get to 70kg - you'll probably find that you can stop before that point.
you guys have any favorite, low calorie snacks? maybe it would be easier to resist the temptation of snacks if I were to replace it with something tasty but low in calories. cucumber with holiday dip mix is pretty nice, but sour cream is fairly calorie rich. 555 calories in a 3dl box and I tend to eat until all of the dip is gone, so its like a small dinner. I suppose it's rather that than a 1'500 calorie chips bag though.

My mom was the master at packing my lunches that filled me up but when I actually calculated the calories I realized I was only eating like 2000 calories a day.
carrots
almonds
string cheese
gummy snacks
oranges
apple slices
nature valley bars
50 50 chance of root canal. this is what happens when you have shitty teeth genetics + do not take care of your teeth enough like a normal human being
"infection could pop up next week, in three months, ten years, or never." :vs:
rip
got myself an android watch so I synced the thing to MFP for steps and so on, but now it's saying I can eat more than usual because of "exercise". this doesn't add up for me, I'm just walking around, can I trust that? can I actually eat more? I have the feeling I can't
that feeling is correct unless you're doing a fuckton of cardio
Has anyone heard anything bad about superpharm ephedra fuel 2? Bought it as recommendation from the guy in the store (better him with some knowledge than I with knowledge fueled by a few fear fuel-ed posts from forums I don't visit).
People in stores don't have knowledge, and when they do, they rarely share the correct knowledge with you. If every GNC/Vita-Shoppe/whatever employee told the truth, they'd go out of business fast because none of their snake oil shit would sell.
10 bucks says it has nothing related to ephedrine in it and therefore you got duped by another company trying to make a buck off of using words like ultra anabolic ephedra dianboline extreme to the max fuel gains machine crunk juice.
Lost 4kg, and now I want to start building up some muscle. I'll keep losing weight for now but I don't want to be some scrawny fuck eventually. Currently I have the muscle mass of a wet sponge, so what would be a good exercise routine for me? Diet is covered.
Another newb question before I think about getting a gym membership.
What should your first day be like?
Maybe that's a weird question, but I think I feel a little awkward just going up to some barbells for the first time by myself. You can read and read about proper squat form and all this stuff but I have a feeling I will still probably look like a dope trying to figure out how stuff works, I dont even think I know how to put weights on a bar properly.
The gym I am closest to is more of a private expensive gym too, not gold's gym. So I don't know how it works, like do you have to ask people to spot for you? Just ask random dudes if I am squatting deep enough?
Nope, just do your thing. There are tons of people who go to the gym every day who have no idea how to safely perform a lot of lifts, and you'll start to see that as you go more often.
I wouldn't ask random gymgoers for a form check tbh. Just record your form and post it here/other weightlifting forums if you want advice. You won't need a spot on a squat with an empty bar, either.

Alright, not sure how I would record my form though, I don't have a video phone or anything like that. I will just have to keep on looking at references from my book.
It's not necessary, but I do recommend finding a way to. If you really can't, you could ask some of the more seasoned members of the gym for a check. You'll be able to separate the people who know what they're doing from the rest after a month or two. Still, recording is more beneficial imo.

On ephedra
http://ephedrinediet.org/why-was-ephedra-banned/
When the FDA banned (((ephedra sinica))) (this is key, it banned sinica, not nevadensis which isnt nearly as bad) from weight loss products in the US, many supplement companies turned to using ephedra nevadensis instead. These two plants both come from the Ephedraceae family, but they are distinct species and have very different chemical compositions. Many people do not know this, but ephedra nevadensis does not have any ephedrine alkaloids in it. Ephedrine is the key component in ephedra sinica that stimulates the central nervous system and burns fat. Without this alkaloid, your weight loss results will be greatly limited.
Wrote this a while back for ephedra. Store bought stuff wont kill you.
