I bench 20 pounds more then I weigh. Is that any good?
Sounds pretty good. I'm barely starting still but I can barely bench more than half my weight. Think my mate I'm going with is cheating on me because the dude's like half my height so I feel like I'm putting in twice the work.
wow I didn't even remember making this post in the slightest. what the fuck
Rough night on the turps son? Don't worry, I've been there.
yeah I didn't plan on getting that fucked up but after I got back from my meet I didn't eat anything, hadn't ate shit the whole day asides for like a bagel and didn't sleep the night before. Drank 4 cups of coffee at 9pm and proceeded to start drinking. People kept buying me shots at the bar and I chain smoked like 10 cigarettes. Fun night but my dumbass friend got my ID taken so now I'm kinda sol on getting into the bar. Probably a good thing honestly, I'm trying to cut down on my nights out. Focusing on finding a decent girl and getting huge and a 3.8 gpa
191lbs today, wee. all the way from 226lbs. my figure is so much slimmer now. it's fun to see the first and last progress picture when thinking of clothes. I have three sweatpants that look the same, two of them are large and the last one is extra large. I think I was wearing extra large in the first picture and it fit, it didn't slide down my legs. in the last one I'm wearing one of the large ones and it's almost falling off. I still got too much fat I want to get rid of, but so happy with the results so far. there's a very obvious change now
Did some sets of 150 for 3 on squats today, feels super heavy and I can't wait till im back at 170 for 3*3. Luckily my 1 rm hasn't changed much and I feel like I could push out 190 on a good day even, but I need to get back into doing normal sets. Gonna aim for 5 plates this year for squats, 2.5 for bench and 5.5 or even 6 for dead because sumoing 170 for sets was a joke and I even conventionaled it for a couple after not doing that for months
It's amazing how pissed I get when I don't have food in me.
It's amazing how pissed I get when I don't have food in me.
being hangry is one of my biggest problems
Deadlifts gone from 160 to 170 in 2 weeks in other news my cns is fried, deloading next week
Alright, not sure how I would record my form though, I don't have a video phone or anything like that. I will just have to keep on looking at references from my book.
This is a late post but what my dad used to do is just check online sites (with good reputation) to see how he should do certain exercises. If I were to return to exercising that would be my goal - just looking online for exercises that fit what I'm working out that day and trying them out. A lot of them have really helpful graphics and describe how it should feel, etc.
I weight 228 lbs, I can crush my enemies far more easier than you.

so I'm potentially not going to be able to make it to a gym for a while, moved country to study abroad, theres meant to be a free gym where im staying but its still getting renovated (even though it was meant to be done last october), anyway, can anyone recommend any good exercises for arms/shoulders that I can just do in a room with myself? There's pushups obviously but I'm not sure about anything else, maybe dips but idk if my bed is tall enough to make them effective, it probably is.

They work the upper chest, front delts and triceps. If it's too easy then try handstand against the wall or even handstand push ups. The upper back is pretty much impossible to get if you don't have a bar to hang from or a high table to do rows. For the lower back you can do cobra raises and either small bridges or full bridges. For the legs just do regular squats and lunges. If that's to easy try the one legged squat and if that is to easy I'm sorry to say that there is nothing that hits the legs harder in calisthenics. I love body weight training but you can't hit the legs the way you can with weights.
Can anyone recommend some exercises that'll help with my thighs/ass WITHOUT targeting my calves? My legs are super disproportionate, my calves are giant and fairly powerful for some reason and I don't know why.
Squats and deadlifts target the legs and ass better than any exercise. The small amount of muscle they add to the calves is outweighed by how much they do to everything else.
I have no access to the gym due to the cold and no ride right now. I've been doing hour long workouts in my room. Pushups, situps, plank, bicycle kicks, body squads, lunges. What else can I add to the workout?

I eat a lot of candy and pizza, and I run 2-3 miles every evening because I just don't give a fuck.

Alright fuck this shit, I wanna be chiseled harder than greek statues. At the start of 2014 I was 5'9 at 250 Right now I'm sitting at 220, I went on a diet awhile ago and now I'm just kind of floating between 215-220, which I thought was pretty good, but now fuck this shit. I'm glad when my mirror fogs up after a shower. Now I wanna be pissed at it when it does cause I look THAT Damn good. So I'm going to get a gym membership with a friend. My goal weight is like 150 or so. I made it my New year's resolution to hit under 200 before 2016, and still haven't done jack shit. Now I am ready, tbh, all I really want is to cut the fuck down on all this chub a lub. I'm going to cut out red meats, I already cut out soda in 2014, only drink tea, water, coffee, and booze. But now I'm going to cut out almost all of that besides water, coffee, and drink either just green tea or unsweet tea, cut out red meat, fast foods...might just try and go for a strict vegan diet. Not too sure yet, might keep in grilled chicken though.
What's wrong with red meat? There's not much to gain at all from cutting protein sources out of your diet. Red meat is not bad for you at all. Fish and chicken are bomb as fuck and cutting them out would be pure retard. You're focusing on the weight aspect of things way too much. Go vegan and cut hard, unless you're supplementing with some kind of protein, you're going to look like shit at 150. Good cuts involve hanging on to muscle, and considering it seems like you haven't been hitting the gym, you probably don't have a lot of muscle in the first place. Getting ample protein and lifting while cutting will help keep that muscle from burning away, red meats and everything else make it easier to get said ample protein. Also, be wary of making huge changes. Jumping into a routine at the gym and going vegan would be a massive change in lifestyle for you, making it easier to relapse into your old ways. Make slight changes, play the long game instead of the instant gratification game. Get into the gym and develop a routine. Cut out junk food. Once that's done and you know it's something you can maintain, take it further and refine the diet. Going full vegan is a one-way ticket to ordering Dominos and gorging yourself every weekend. Always remember, your desire for instant gratification, wanting things right now, is why you got that way. You eat because you're bored, and you eat shitty things because they taste good and don't require a lot of work to prepare. It's always been about getting what you want right now, and that's why your body looks like 10lbs of shit in a 5lb bag. That mentality will get you nowhere when it comes down to fitness. Getting ripped, hell, even getting to a point where you don't look like a sack of shit, is going to take a long time. Longer than you want it to. You say you want it, but how long are you really willing to wait for it? What happens when it's 6 months from now, you've been putting in hard ass work, and you still look like crap? Just saying, you need to visualize these things happening over a span of months, years even. I have a feeling like you're expecting these drastic changes in lifestyle to change your body just as drastically, unfortunately it doesn't work that way.

I haven't changed my diet at all, I still eat pizza, subs, fast food and so on (I've lost 35lbs / 16kg so far), but I'm aware of how much I eat so I can stay within my deficit. what you should cut out are drinks with calories in them, those can very easily make you go above that deficit. if you drink lots of cola, replace it with cola zero instead as that has no calories. that way you don't have to cut something you love completely out of your life if you really love cola, just gotta drink an alternative instead. for me, it would be very hard to say "I'm going to cut booze / meat / sushi / kebab / pizza / and so on out of my life and get a nice body!!" since I really enjoy all of this. I think I'd rather just eat less of it than cut it out completely, make no change to my current diet other than just eating less of it. I think that's a change that's much easier to maintain rather than starting to cut things out and introduce new things. if you're building muscle I believe it's more important to watch your diet in terms of nutrients, but if your goal is just to lose fat then I'd just worry about the calories.
It really depends on what your diet consists of tbh. If you eat nothing but 2000 cals of absolute shit every single day your body will reflect that, regardless of how much exercise you do. That's coming from experience, too (went from ~280 lbs to 160 with dirty cutting, still looked like ass despite lifting and cardio) My advice would be to learn how to cook some tasty-ass meals that are good for you. There are tons of recipes everywhere on the internet. My particular favourite is the Protein Chef on YT, mainly his slow cooker recipes. I make at least one batch a week, tastes great and has great macro balance. You don't need to cut out junk entirely, just don't make it all you eat
nice
Oh trust me, I know. I'm not expecting to look super amazing in 6 months from now, better? Yes. I know it's going to be hard but Im going to stick too it this time. Signed up for the gym this morning, I'm not going to go vegan, at least not yet. Like you said, small changes first. My gym friend that I'm going to be working out with has been body building for a while now so I'm pretty confident in him, even though we each have separate goals.

Often times taking less of something is going to work a lot better than just trying to stop eating something completely
Gotta build a base otherwise you just look like shit. In other news, stopped doing olympics while I'm bulking. Need to save my joints while I get to cloud status.

I don't want to be you know, super buff, just a toned, moderately sized build. I'm doing a lot of reading, plus when my workout buddy gets off work, he's going to be teaching me a lot. What's your guys's takes on supplements? I know there not like, "OH TAKE THIS AND SEE RESULTS INSTANTLY!!!1!!" But do they really give you just a small boost?
