couldn't finish my last two sets for shoulder presses today :( 95 pounds. hopefully after the week break i should be able to do 5 full sets of 100.
If you haven't tried it before, you might look into getting a microloading setup going. My overhead progress was stalling until I started using 2.5 lbs increments. http://stronglifts.com/madcow/Topics/Microloading.htm The chain solution is extremely cheap and is more practical than I expect. Pretty helpful on dumbbells when your gym doesn't have small increments as well. What program are you running? If you can't get a full 5 reps you probably will want to deload or make another attempt. [editline]6th April 2016[/editline]
Is 15 minutes of cardio a day enough? I do the elliptical for 10 minutes straight on 11 resistance then I lower it to around 6 for the last 5 minutes.
The American Heart Association suggests something like 30 minutes a day five times a week, but you'll see benefits from just the 15. What are your fitness goals?
how come?
I feel nauseous and get headaches after taking anything more than a small amount.
On all my off-days and evenings I have the urge to go to the gym. Is there anything I could do on my off-days to satisfy that urge? I already do archery once a week. Running, maybe?
Cycling. Does anyone use Strava? ie. tracking your cardio. Works for Cycling, Running and Swimming.

I've been doing a 5 day split as I stated including Chest/Ab day, Back day, Shoulder/Ab day, Leg day, and Arm/Ab day and everyday when I'm done lifting weights I do the elliptical for 15 minutes with a 3 minute cool down. [editline]7th April 2016[/editline] I'm 17 years old turning 18 in 21 days. I don't know if that means anything just thought I should share.

You lose more weight by doing a low intensity exercise for a long time than giving it almost all you got for 15 minutes. Also the 30 minutes a day (sometimes 5 days a week) is from doing a low intensity exercise like walking briskly, 15 - 20 minutes while doing a high intensity exercise should be enough cardio.
I know I'm late to the discussion, but is there anything I can do at the gym on offdays, that doesn't involve running? (I'm getting to the point in stronglifts where my legs are hurting like hell every day). I'm currently just doing abs every off day, but I feel like that isn't enough.

Give limber 11 a look on youtube.

Fair enough, I used a pvc pipe for a long time before i actually bought a foam roller, it did a pretty good job.

Walking long distance outside is pretty healthy. You might look for trails or nature centers near your city/town. I sometimes make cheese and yogurt at home for bulking and they're pretty simple to do as well.
I figured I just gotta say fuck you to myself and go back to the gym. last time I went there without breaks was 7th of December, then I went once more some time during December and never came back. I'm feeling that initial motivation that I started off with, but now I lack the cash to actually buy a membership. not only that, but last time I wore my fitness clothes I was also 7.5kg heavier. they were bought when I was 14.8kg heavier than now. sooo I think I need to replace it now since I look absolutely hideous while wearing them. that's a problem, I look so fat while wearing a lot of the clothes I currently have. maybe if I hit the gym and actually go that last mile to my goal, I could just walk around naked instead of buying clothes? would save money buying new clothes
There is a guy that goes to my school that works out like once every two weeks. He wears a lifting belt for every exercise, including dumbbell curls. Idk if its just me but that is a big pet peeve of mine when it comes to the gym

Is distance better or just speed for a lower period of time? I'm not having much trouble jogging for 5mph for 35 minutes and I'm able to comfortably breathe through my nose, I'm guessing I should go for a bit more speed?
i just bought 7 new gym tops, two new sweaters, two pairs of gym shorts and a new pair of gym shoes now i feel super motivated to do gym

Maintaining consistency is about all you really need to do. Distance vs speed? For weight-loss, distance is going to be more effective. If you want to be faster, train to run the same distance in the same amount of time. Your body will adapt accordingly. Set a practical target (most people won't ever want to run more than 5 miles a day unless they're training for an event), and once you're consistently hitting it you can start to adjust the incline that you're running on (hills) or the pace that you're going.
I've been thinking of signing up for my local gym. Could you guys give me tips on where to start if I do? My goal is to get more muscle and become stronger
I've been thinking of signing up for my local gym. Could you guys give me tips on where to start if I do? My goal is to get more muscle and become stronger
There are a number of programs which are structured like this one: http://stronglifts.com/5x5/ (this one has a cell phone application) Pick a plan, stick with it, eat just over (~+500) your TDEE. If you're up for it, you'll see greater improvements running on your days off from lifting weights. Stop eating junk foods, eat plenty of vegetables of all colors, and you'll look like you've been chiseled out of stone. Before you start a program with squatting, read (or just skim) this article: http://strengtheory.com/how-to-squat/
starting to track my calories with MyFitnessPal, anyone have experience with it? i can't add my stronglifts routine to it, because it doesn't count calories burned with strength training. is the calorie count burned by that negligible? [editline]8th April 2016[/editline] e.g. would i be okay just eating until i get around 500 over my tdee
I've been thinking of signing up for my local gym. Could you guys give me tips on where to start if I do? Just start light and learn how to do everything with proper form first.
