I dont think 3x3 is enough on its own for your work sets, I did it the past few weeks and made solid gains but I reckon thats because I also did back off sets and a lot of assistance. Eg my work sets for bench would look like That 8th set shouldve been for 3 but I just couldnt hit it.
damn If I had 4 warm-up sets like that I don't think I'd achieve anything on my working ones back-off seems like a good idea but I'm sceptical about all the volume
I cant seem to make gains unless I go that hard
The 5/3/1 I do is set up like that, and I used to hate a lot of warm up sets because of how fatigued I would be before working sets but it's starting to seem to make a world of difference. Pyramiding down never worked all that great for me, but a few warmup sets, followed by 3 or 4 working sets, followed by another 5 sets of 10 at 50% of 1RM fatigues the shit out of me. Although it might not be the best for hypertrophy and mass, there's nothing quite like hitting squats at 225 for a bit then ramping down to 135 until I can barely do another rep.
Anybody know any tricks for holding in water (already using creatine)? I'm just pissing out every drop. Its my greatest motivator/perk but also my biggest enemy. Lips are chapped right now despite drinking a shitton. I did an alright workout yesterday and left at 224.4 (drank 2L i'd say) but the last 3 were 233.4 and before that around 230-232. If this is the same as in the summer I piss out 12 pounds at max, if I could retain half that that would be great! Muscle is like 75% water by weight so I never know how to actually weigh myself so I go off of maximum volume. Its like, imagine walking around at whatever weight, then imagine what you look like 12 pounds heavier and you can only be that weight for 2 hours. I think this drastic drop in water retention is a result of drinking obsene amounts of water for so long, my body knows it gonna get a lot so it never holds any in.
I'm right there with you Valon , I drink a gallon of water at work every day and I piss like a racehorse but honestly don't feel hydrated for much of the day. My bladder feels constantly full, but I'll catch myself feeling bloated with chapped lips same as you and it pisses me off. I don't know the physiology behind it, but I'm guessing once your body retains a certain amount, there's not much you can do beyond it. I know a lot of illict drugs help with water retention but clearly those aren't much help in the exercise world.
Brothers! I have the exact same problem. I am using Why protein with Creatine, and I drink buckets of water every day, but always feel thirsty and chapped lips. I also constantly have to use the bathroom and have been feeling a pressure/bloating in my abdomen for the past couple of months. I stopped using regular milk in my shakes and it seems to have gotten slightly better, I may have developed a lactose intolerance.
After a long time of having the concept that too low squats - bad for legs, finding on /r/Fitness that low squat is the proper squat and doing some more research, turns out that low squat is correct. Fuck this life. Why the fuck: a) There is a lot of misconception of the fact that squatting too low is bad? b) My gain from 110 kg to 125 kg can be basically erased from my memory. I wonder if I will manage to squat 100 fully in-depth.
What's a good vegan/non-whey protein mix? My body doesn't process whey correctly and it could kill me. Also, for those of you who are very lean, what do you eat like? [editline]1st March 2015[/editline] I just did a muscle-up in my new apartments and smashed my ceiling with my head. What's a good replacement exercise?
http://www.rohitnair.net/pp/#muscle_gain/aesthetics http://www.reddit.com/r/bodybuilding/wiki/index#wiki_weight_training
For some reason I was looking around through your links and ended up in a strenght program :v: the Hypertrophy programs I found had all these weird exercises like a fuckin v lat cable inverted push 360 and honestly I feel more at home with the good old fashioned squats and deadlifts.
I think I found a routine that I like for now. I had fun with it, but unfortunately I spit out a little bit of food (Not puke, just dizzy and realized I had a bit of predigested food in my mouth). That really concerns me.
Thats not muc of a problem reallY, dont worry drink some water [editline]1st March 2015[/editline] Also, is this the complete greyskull program? It kinda feels incomplete? Its the only reason Ive never really understood it
Monday Bench/ or Press (A/B) 2x 5, 1 x 5+ Curl 2x 10-15 (bench days) Squat 2x 5, 1x 5+ Neck Harness Wednesday Bench/ or Press 2x5, 1x 5+ Weighted Chins 2 x 6-8 (press days, and only if you can do at least 6-8 BW chins) Deadlift 1x 5+ (with or without power cleans as warmups) Neck Harness Friday Bench/ or Press (A/B) 2x 5, 1 x 5+ Curl 2x 10-15 (bench days) Squat 2x 5, 1x 5+ Neck Harness

The past few visits to the gym for me have been uncomfortable and gradually more and more annoying. I don't use machines, bells or the smith -just the power rack - and 90% of the time I go there it's taken by these 2 school kids. They like to take their time by talking to one another while not doing anything at all, and not offering to take turns. I could be waiting for up to half an hour before they get bored and move on. And when I do get in the rack, they'll be next to it on bells or whatever, and they always criticize/mock other people out loud. Especially myself - once, when I was doing the bench press and dropped the bar on my chest - they proceeded to laugh out loud. I wouldn't have cared if they had shown just a slight bit of concern beforehand. The bar was quite light but it really hurt my chest. And lastly, and I'm sure people will agree this is annoying, they never clean up when they're done. Leaving plates and shit all over the place or completely out of stacking order. I'm tempted to make a formal complaint to a staff member about it but I doubt they'll do anything. Not initially anyway. I would go to another gym if I could, but the only other place in town requires a subscription fee, and I'm too poor for that.
Uh just report them You are doing everyone a favor and they'll at least get a warning. Pretty much no gym I know tolerates people who just goof off and make things unpleasant for everyone else at the gym Like okay spending 30 minutes in a power rack and not doing much is annoying but maybe not report worthy (I'd tell them to hurry up or something though). but IMO that on top of mocking other people totally is? Hey guys, can anyone recommend a good olympic barbell I can get in the UK? Been working out at home with some dumbbells for a few months and have been happy with the results I've gotten so far, but starting to take the whole weightlifting thing a bit more seriously now, and have been considering doing the StrongLifts 5x5 programme, but it means I'll need a barbell to do it, and I'm just not sure which is the best to get. Would rather pay a bit more and get a good one, rather than need to upgrade later down the line - so if anyone has any recommendations that'd be awesome, thanks!
I don't know but you'd probably need at least a squat rack + bench if you seriously want to do SL 5x5
tried out some greek yoghurt with banana slices to balance out the sourness "hey this isn't so bad" and by the end I'm feeling queasy trying to finish the last bits off think i'll stick to whole milk lol

when breaking down alcohol your body can't process protein and so your muscles receive none = hence drinking equals lost gains, because the ripped muscle fibres aren't strengthened. if they've somehow found a way around it tho it will incorporate my two favorite things into one activity! probly just a gimmick.
ayyye guys I know this isn't a personal blog, but I felt the need to share that I asked the girl that I always wanted to ask to prom and she said yes, to relate it to lifting I used to be an no confidence faggot who wouldn't even talk to girls before I started lifting so yeah all kinds of gains today boys!

Just benched my own bodyweight for the first time! (170 lbs) I'd like to thank all you guys for keeping me interested and motivated all this time, you guys rock. The funny thing is over the past 2 years, going from 60 lbs to 170 lbs on bench press, my bodyweight has stayed exactly the same. Dunno how that's possible V:v:V

Look around on local auction sites, I was a able to get a barbell + 157.5kg of weights for ~400 euro. I've had it for over a year and a half, only problem I've had was my 25's cracked after a particularly heavy deadlifting session. You should be able to get a squat rack for less that 100, it'll be fairly shit but it will hold your weights, bench should be around 50. As with everything you get what you pay for, if you have the money go for a full power rack, adjustable bench and a good oly bar with bumper plates.

Getting to the point where the overhead press is an absolute cunt I love it
Did a 3.5 mile obstacle course race in 40 degree cold and a PT test to follow the next morning. Yeah I think I can spare myself a single day to recover proper. Arms, knees and thighs are like molasses.
Sorry for the temporary hiatus, but your savior is back! What did I miss fellas
Going out of town for a month to work 7 days a week 12h a day. Pretty much printing money! But my biggest worry is keeping the GAINS! My hotel may have a gym (and there is a really rad gym nearby), and I dont know yet if i get a living allowance or what the heck for food and whatever. If I do get a living allowance, god damn am I gonna eat like a king.
I got up early to go train with a few lads from the football team. I was doing bench and worked up to 4 sets of 2 at 95kg then did a back off set and a drop set. It was really enjoyable training with like minded people. Almost makes me want to get up early every day.
