Yo guys, do any of you have any links to studies showing that BCAA's (like the extra supplement) and glutamine (same) are def. not worth it? I haven't been taking them or anything because fuck that they cost money, but I'd like to read some studies just checking their effects. Only casually read some normal sites that all say you should probably take them both, but I'm not trusting them
I got up early to go train with a few lads from the football team. I was doing bench and worked up to 4 sets of 2 at 95kg then did a back off set and a drop set. It was really enjoyable training with like minded people.
Almost makes me want to get up early every day.
Gymming early is beautiful, it's just that you're bloody tired pretty early at night and getting up is the biggest schlep
I wish I had the motivation to go to the gym at 4 in the morning again, but I hate getting out of bed and having to get to sleep before 9 to be up without being dead.
What's a good non-whey protein mix?
milk
There's that soy stuff
Beef, or egg as well.

My body can't process that correctly either. I've been drinking a plant protein mix with almond milk. Although, it seems like one chicken breast already outdoes it in protein. I can't seem to find a mix with more than 22 grams of protein per serving.
I wish I could afford to have a chicken breast every day as part of my bulk but damn is that shit expensive. Like, $3 per chicken breast is the best I can get here. That doesn't sound that bad, but I mean that's $21 per week, and living by myself and working a job where I pack shelves and collect trolleys it's kinda hard to fit it in there.
I'm stepping up my bulking game anyways, adding two bowls of oats with full cream milk to my diet each day. Anyone have any tips on how to make plain oats taste better (would mixing protein shake in it be a good idea?)

I buy a bag of chicken breast every week for about $8. I don't eat one every day, but almost every day. Maybe chicken is more expensive in Australia. I'm from Minnesota, an agricultural state. That has its advantages with meat.
One easy breakfast food that I like to make with oatmeal is I mix raw oats and Greek yogurt in a bowl. I call it "yoatmeal" and it's actually pretty good on its own. I buy the tubs of Greek yogurt and those big tubes of oats every now and then. It doesn't even take that much yogurt to make the oats taste good and it taste better than regular oatmeal.
The breasts at the butchers I go to are $9/kg, so they are like 330 grams each so that's like 11 oz. not sure if that's considered big or not. If I have one for lunch every day, should I have half of one or a full one? They are skinless and boneless too.
Having a full one is like 600 calories I suppose the more the better
Try going to a big supermarket, they sell breasts in bulk. Butchers are better for better quality, but cost more, even in bulk. At least that's my experience. I got to Tesco and get like a big bag of chicken breasts for cheap, something like 12 breasts or something for 8 quid.
Haha by butchers I meant the butchers at the supermarket I work at, there's kinda a stigma against going to supermarket butchers at least among people I know, due to perceived lower quality, wasnt sure if that was here too. But nah they don't sell in bulk. At least not chicken breasts.
Ah nah man, I don't have that stigma, I always use supermarket butchers. But local butchers are great cause if you build up a relationship with them, they give you all the best stuff.
Try getting a Costco card. I'm about to get one. They're really good for buying things in bulk.
Got $50 a day LOA (living out allowance)
This is going to be a lot of food
milk
1/4 gallon milk a day for me.
Chicken is mostly great as a solid source of cal cheap protein. I usually have a breast a day in one of my meals because its an easy and fill source of 40-50g (assuming 8oz or so in size). For me, thats about $8-10 every 6 days.
The reason why chicken is also suggested so much is because its generally the cheapest source of meat you can get. If that is still too much for you, then try and limit chicken intake and find other (cheap) sources of protein, such as from powder (not $$ ones), tuna, beans, etc.

I am now imagining people going into Costco and buying pallets worth of Muscle Milk.
Thats genius
When I lived in Washington, they were selling something like 10 pounds of unflavored whey protein powder for $80 at Costco. Shit was unreal, shame I didn't have a Costco card.

They have 5lb things of ON whey for like $50 at the one near me, which is a pretty good deal, especially considering no shipping costs either.
They're amazing for prescriptions and supplements like multivitamins and fish oil. My family's membership pays for itself just from how much we save on vitamins.
It's also my top choice of where I want to work when I move to a city that actually has one. Literally everyone I've talked to says it's the best place to work any sort of retail.
feeling kinda down about my gains brahs.
been on dat dere 2+ year plateau, in a sport in which physical strength is key

Dump some cinnamon in there for flavoring. I mix in some "natural" (tastes of crappy milkshake) in before I microwave my oats. Smells a bit off, but taste is just fine.

gotta change something bruh, maybe actually quit smokin the ganj for a while? :v:
Shit day at college, friends were too busy to hang out, felt pretty pissed I so decided it was a convenient time to work out.
First set of sqauts, 5 reps at 87.5 kg, barely managed it. Not sure why it felt so heavy since I did 5 sets at 85kg 2 days ago without missing a single rep. Anyway, I felt pretty distracted and lost motivation, so I left right after that.
Thinking back it was kinda stupid going in when I didn't really want to, but felt obligated to.

Muscle fatigue brah
Muscle fatigue brah
A days rest is all you need if you're training 3 times a week.
A days rest is all you need if you're training 3 times a week.
Some people would say you need 48-72 hours rest of any muscle group before you work it out again. I've actually had to change my routine because my squats and deadlifts are destroying (in a good way) my legs and ass and it's taking a few days until I can comfortably sit on my ass again. Was doing upper, lower, rest, repeat, now I'm doing push, pull, rest, legs, push, rest, pull, legs, rest, repeat.
DOMS has nothing to do with it though, it's basically just a side-effect
if 2-3 days of rest was required, routines like SL/SS/Texas Method and countless others wouldn't exist
if you wish to decrease DOMS, either wait it out and get properly used to your routine or try decreasing the volume
