Been to a little party today and didn't drink because I'm cutting. Instead decided to just have diet coke... 5 of them. Oh good lord. Sweeteners contain phenylalanine which have a laxative effect. Going to have to give the gym a miss today, if I squat even once I'll end up shitting.
Vodka/ spirits are you friend, my go to is 20cl of vodka and a can of redbull, down that, head to a club, few jaegar bombs in there, you'll burn more calories than you gain.
Real lifters do a shot or two of everclear and call it a night [sp]Not really that's fucking stupid Idk why they sell that shit. Never will touch it considering the stories I've read.[/sp]
Didnt drink since your cutting so you drank pop? Your cheating on your cut either way. I dont drink period so when I'm at parties I usually drink so much water that it dilutes my blood and makes me sort of drunk in a way. It gets gnarly if its after the gym
Diet coke, it's got next to no calories so not really cheating on a cut. Just not very healthy
Gym in the morning If I wake up and go straight to the gym (35-45 minutes after waking up), should I eat breakfast or delay it after gym? Logic tells me to delay, since I'll have lots of troubles running and pushing weights, but nonetheless..
Depends on how big of a breakfast it is. What I personally do since I go to the gym around roughly the same time after I wake up as you is I just eat something light to give me a bit of energy and then eat a proper breakfast/dinner after the gym.
banana and glass of milk is all I had, and it'd give me enough energy for the gym in the morning and wouldn't make me wanna hurl
scrmbled eggs mm mmm
1000 calories of (m)ass gainer with milk awww yeeeeah
cue protein farts off the richter scale
had 500cal of carbs to spare delicious 90 second pasta bitches aww yiss
Maxed out my bench at 225lb. 2 months ago, maxed again last week and did 255. Don't know where the 30 pounds came from, especially since bench is my slowest moving lift.
Did you train a specific muscle group harder? Like inner triceps or front delts?
Well I finally fucking started. After 5 years of inactivity after highschool, all the life bullshit has been surpassed and I'm working out. I mean, I ran last year every other day until I hurt my bad ankle AGAIN, gave up until just this past monday, when I decided it was finally time after researching all this shit. Running and then calisthenics just to get myself started, I think that's fairly harmless. Frankly I've never had to learn any of the workout ~shit~ because I played hecka sports and that had me plenty /fit/, but not jacked, so now learning for the first time is interesting. I think I know what I'm doing, but I'm taking it slow. 180lbs at 6'2 of skinnyfat is not a nice look I figure 1 hour of work and 'urrggghggh' is worth it for 23 hours of confidence, improved health, and coolness (not that I was lacking any), so it's definitely a good thing. SO. I'll be checking in here more often :v [editline]23rd May 2015[/editline] wow don't I feel special up here all on my own
Trust me after a while that 1 hour of exercise is the hour you most look forward to in the day once you get far enough [editline]23rd May 2015[/editline] Also anyone excited for the rugby world cup
oh god guys never eat kebabs shitting out all my gains over here

Fuck ME it's nice, even at work today I'm feeling it like "you did good kid, this is what success feels like" I'm easily excitable
It is true that lifting heavy while at a young age (17) can affect your growth, and how much is "heavy"?
If anything you should be lifting when you're so young because that's when you're at your most fit and healthiest and all (there actually are scientific reasons but I forgot them). Just as long as you are having enough protein (2x your bodyweight in kg, in grams per day) whether it's trying to put on muscle or trying to lose fat when lifting. Heavy lifting is lifting as much weight as you can for full reps and aiming for muscle failure. You literally destroy your muscles when you do 'heavy lifting' and that's why the protein and eating is very important, to repair and overcompensate muscle growth. Your heavy lifting might as well be an empty barbell (20kg) when doing bench press, but gradually you'll go up in weight and eventually that might be something like 80kg and you just keep on going.
i wish i started lifting that young tbh that natural test boost
i wish i started lifting that young tbh that natural test boost
I've been lifting for 5 months atm, and I love to see the changes in my body when I'm in front of the mirror
Got inflicted with excruciating sore throat, I can barely eat or drink properly without getting earaches or headaches. 8 LBs lost in a few days. This is gonna hurt.
Nah it's just water weight, people are wayyyy too scared of muscle mass loss, that shit doesn't happen overnight. We're talking probably a month at minimum of being inactive and/or sick.

I got somewhat-started in December, but the going has been really slow for me just because I went a long time just exercising however the hell I wanted and not bothering to find out if I was doing anything "right" or working out enough of a range of muscles. Also kinda took me a while to get on the wagon of working out 3-4 times a week and overcome the initial soreness. Speaking of which, is it normal that after a few weeks, I'm only feeling maybe 1/10 of the soreness I felt when I first started? Like I'm still using increasing amounts of weight and pushing my limits, but I have barely any lasting soreness throughout the day, and pretty much nothing the following day, unlike when I got started. Also I think I'm getting sick today. It's gonna suck, this is the first time I've been sick since I started working out. I hope I'm not gonna feel so bad that it fucks up my routine or my diet.
I was actually gonna ask about that, what's the deal with getting sore? Like, how long does it last, and do people that are right fit still get sore the next day after a workout? Is being fit about being sore all the time because you work out every other day?

No no I mean like, as you get more fit, does it get less intense? Or is it the same feeling every time the whole time. Does it "get better"? Or is it just a part of the game? I mean idgaf, I'm in it for the long haul, but I'm curious

Well it does get less intense if you workout more but if you don't lift for some time you will still get the same level of soreness even if you are fit. [editline]24th May 2015[/editline] Bear in mind that you still can get sore if you change up your routine or intensity of your exercise.
does it get less intense?
id say so, kind of a tricky question. when i first started lifting at like 15 it was all this big deal to me and was self conscious in the gym. i still get amped to lift but i feel like i'm just going through the motions now. my senior year of highschool when i was lifting everyday i hardly even noticed any really bad soreness. idk what i'm really saying any more.. it gets better, trust me. you just have to get in the groove. just make the effort to go once and after that you'll keep on going. that's all it's about [editline]d[/editline] working out has become kind of spiritual for me, i love it when the gym is empty and there's no stupid tvs blaring no homo [editline]24th May 2015[/editline]
oh god guys never eat kebabs shitting out all my gains over here
you must remove kebab somehow
