The shit users tend to go away after a few months, but they keep -coming-, and in high volume. I've noticed that the 08'ers have chilled out some, probably because the bad ones got impatient and left, while the good ones stayed. doubley so for 07'ers obviously.

No, it's doing that on TOP of making good threads.
Please only bump a thread if you have something genuinely interesting to add. If the thread is a year or more old you can make a new one, and well written new threads [B]with original content[/B] are the most likely to make General Discussion a better place.
If you see a bad thread, it's best if you DON'T REPLY. The best thing to do is to report the thread and move on. Replying only keeps the bad threads on page 1, ignore them and let them die.

What's not to make sense? "Bump threads that have died out because of spam of shit threads." It's used to bring back threads that should still be alive, but because of the outburst of shitty ones, have been drowned and forgotten.

it's not because there is too many shitty threads it's because these "threads that should still be alive" are generally uninteresting and usually run their course through GD in a week
the best way to keep good threads around in GD is to keep making them, not bumping old tired ones
