Sure then.
So you're saying Radiohead has songs that sound like this in their linueup, complete with odd time signatures, metal riffs, and in general progressive song structures (not to mention Steven produces the best sounding albums from other artsists to my ears):

And you're saying that they also do death metal and the most awesome brutal growls ever:

dude have you actually heard radiohead or are you just going mad without thought
i'm talking about guitar work and when you listen to both artists (i'm talking the more steven-wilson influenced Opeth) you can hear the undeniable rough clang guitar that jonny greenwood practically reinvented with OK computer
I know Radiohead, and I actually quite like their stuff. In all fairness, Paranoid Android could be a Porcupine Tree song and there are probably others. But it's the stuff that Wilson and Akerfeldt do that Radiohead doesn't that make them my favourite artists.
Blending prog rock with metal is something Radiohead don't do, and I haven't heard any overly complex ideas in a Radiohead song. PT and Opeth songs to me are just things of pure beauty, Radiohead isn't like that for me. Just because they have a similar guitar tone doesn't make them the same artist, and just because Greenwood had the tone first it doesn't necessarily make him better. Get off your high horse.
i wasn't even that serious
i have opeth's and procupine tree's albums too, it was just a frank observation
An observation that can be observed between many artists... There aren't many artists out there that sound completely unique. This is just people stating their own opinion, I don't even think it was worth bringing up.
probably scot projects older tracks (2001-2009) when he was actually producing hard hitting hard trance tracks that you could tell he produced.
these days he's producing more or less progressive trance with a slight hard edge but I still like his latest works as he still has a unique sound.
what an odd picture of richard there

His fretting hand form is legendary to me. index spread far down, middle and ring right next to each other, pinky spread way up. Shown here.

Dave Mustaine
Tenacious D, or if just one person, just Jack Black.
Randy Blythe or Corey Taylor when it comes to Metal
I must be the only person alive to think that the beatles are overrated

I hear ya. I like some of their classics, like "I Want to Hold Your Hand" and "Yesterday", but most of their work is just garbage, mediocre at best, in my opinion.
Serj Tankian.

I really couldn't comment, I have only heard the stuff my Dad plays, and is playing now really.
I'm just sick of people telling me to worship them, I respect their significance but honestly I don't really have any interest in furthering my understanding of their stuff.
Honestly I think people should stop whinging about the "golden" past and look into the future of music. Things can only get better, but only if you look in the right places :v:

I love you.
I don't think Beatles are overrated. Saying that you worship anyone is definitely an overrating though.

well they created about 4 different genres of music in about 7 years I'd say they did a pretty good job. So many of their songs are just plain legendary.
Charles Valentin Alkan,
Eccentric composer who became a recluse for 25 years. Interesting person.

He's like a mob boss or something

Sleep Party People guy

Scott Hutchison from Frightened Rabbit is great. He wrote all the lyrics, and they're all fantastic. And made the album covers and stuff. He's pretty great. Frightened Rabbit are probably my favourite band ever.
Dan Deacon is brilliant too, watching this, I am pretty convinced he is totally awesome. Totally Awesome
And the Sleep Part People guy, because he has a strange rabbit mask and there's something great about his music to me, though I haven't listened to it much yet. Sleep Party People is a solo project so yeah, it's all him.
I love you.
Glad to hear it

I never said that they didn't do a good job, and that they didn't have their awesome songs and that they didn't change the face of music as we know it
I'm just sick of being expected to love them, and hearing about them over and over and over.
well if you don't love the people that did so much for music then I can't imagine who you would love.
There's a clear difference between not enjoying the songs personally and thinking the songs are shit, which is what it sounded like you thought in your first post.
I don't think any of their songs are shit, and I gave no indication that I thought that in my post either.
I'm just a little tired of hearing about them, either way we're really derailing this thread so here's another of my favourite musicians

Jimmy Page, one of my all time favourite guitarists
