Do you wake up in a jolt like you hit the bed?
Yes, exactly. I sort of bolt half upright and then relax again.
I have a question for you guys. While I'd like to start learning to lucid dream, one of my friends is telling me that it wasn't worth it for him, as sometimes he'll go lucid when he doesn't want to, and won't feel rested in the morning.
Do you have a similar problem, or have you found a way around it?
Yes, his problem is that he'll go lucid more often then not even when he doesn't want to, and will feel like shit in the morning.
I'm wondering if any of you have this problem.
I had a cool lucid dream a while back where I could think of something "close" my eyes and then it would appear. Cannot replicate it though, haven't lucid dreamed for a while.
Experiment time: I'm about to go to sleep right now and try out some new lucid ideas (terraforming, telekinesis, pyrokinesis, etc.) I'll also attempt in-dream teleportation and see how that goes. This is an experiment that I hope will help other people figure out how to do these things. (I'll edit the post in the morning with my findings)
Has anyone ever tried learning a skill, language, topic, etc from a lucid dream?
Has anyone ever tried learning a skill, language, topic, etc from a lucid dream?
Any knowledge that you can come across in a dream you have to know beforehand, so you can't exactly teach yourself spanish in your sleep or anything like that. I doubt you could even practice a skill in your sleep simply because you can make whatever you're trying to do work perfectly no matter what every time. Like Eonart said however you can probably get inspiration, like for a musical or artistic piece, or an idea of how to solve a complex problem.
Guys is it possible to archieve WILD when taking sleeping meds? Like directly in bed no waking after.
Do sleeping meds screw up the lucid?or make it better i know i have weird dreams when i take them.

I agree with you here, but was mostly referring to the learning of a particular skill, language, topic, etc if one had at least been exposed to material describing the constituents of those forms - if lucid dreaming has been used to piece a jigsaw together.
Okay, so my girlfriend's been worrying me lately. She says that sometimes at night she hallucinates a little and sees people that look half dead, and in her dreams she can only dream about one thing, which is these half-dead people killing her family in front of her. I'm trying to get her to reality check and get in to a lucid dream, but she's often too paralyzed with fear in the dream to reality check. How can I help her stop having these dreams? I want to help her because she's been staying up for 2 and a half days in a row every chance she gets recently and it's really starting to weaken her a bit.
Hello, I am Uroboros. I am wishing to inform you of a thread I have started as to the Sub-conscious. Perhaps you can get some use out of it.
OK then. It's Sunday so I have a valid reason for posting as soon as I wake up. I was partially successful in my experiment. Here's what happened:
Terraforming: I was able to bend the ground and pull large stones up.
Telekinesis: Somewhat limited due to the weight of certain objects.
Pyrokinesis: Also somewhat limited in terms of range, although I could explode anything by pointing (kind of cool).
and last, but certainly not least,
Summoning: Any object I could think of I could create. I tested this extensively.
To do all this, I
focused on my outstretched right hand, and thought of the power I wanted. I think this could work in general for other people. Try it and see what happens.
Hello, I am Uroborus. And with all of the dream threads I decided I might try and help with the dangers and strengths of your sub-conscious. This may be of little or no help. I simply wish to warn and guide.
The Sc can be a wonderful thing, and can help you in your dreams and in your real life in ways you cannot imagine. Lucid dreams are the path to your Sc, and there are rules involved.
1. Never call yourself forth if it does not feel right.
2. Do not ask your worst fear. This has been said before.
3. Be careful, your mind may well have brought forth something else.
4. And Remain positive.
Now I will explain one of the hidden horrors of the Sc. Those of you who read the sleep and dreams megathreads will be familiar with the idea of an Anti-self. These beings are made of your fear, your hate and only have as much power as you give them. It is your dream. They will trick you otherwise. Never trust them, Their purpose is to leave you in a dark hole, hating yourself. They are your own personal devil.
Your Sc will not interfere in confrontations with an Anti-self, It is your demon to face. However do consult with your Sc when you are not in a confrontation. It will have advice as to your struggle.
In any case this information should not be of help until you have mastered Lucid dreaming. This thread is not about showing you how to lucid dream, if you wish to learn I direct you to the 3 sleep and dreams megathreads.
I shall share a story about my confrontation with my own anti-self to show you just how cruel and evil they are.
" I stand in a room, the floor is white marble. The air is fresh and before me stood a man clothed in white. His eyes silver, he smiled and said," Welcome my friend."
My response was curious "Who are you?"
He smiled, " I am you." and as he said it his clothes turned black, his eyes lost their whites and became black. His veins became clear over his now ghostly pale skin, as they had turned black.
The walls of the room exploded outwards, revealing a barren landscape, and dead air flowed through the area.
"No you can't be me" I said backing away.
" Accept it. I am you, you know this you feel it in that black pit you call a soul."
He was now sitting on a chair, made of the dead body's of those I knew.
"Go away" I screamed. My voice echoed though the landscape. And that echo told me "No"
In his hand he held, a globe shimmering with black and purple. " THIS IS YOUR SOUL, THIS IS YOUR MIND." He didn't yell but the words thundered through the landscape. He rose and with a word called forth creatures of my nightmares, who cut through my flesh and mutilated me for hours beyond my counting. He stood over me and said " We are the same, and we will bring others into the dark for the dark is power."
I woke."
That was my first confrontation with my anti-self. and it had a massive effect.
I was driven to the dark for years, believing that I had been shown my true self. Do not believe this, Everyone is naturally good, darkness just gets in the way.
They are cunning and most importantly can do anything you can. They know all that you know. Find your light and hold fast to it.
Hope this helps.

Your sub is you, you simply personify it in a lucid dream. In fact, if I had never heard of a subconcious in dream context, I would never meet it in a lucid dream because I never knew it existed, not unless my head was making up crap as usually in a dream.
Your sub will always help you in real life because it is you and you are it, same goes with anti-sub, except the anti-sub haunts you with what you fear.
Typically, an anti-sub, if not known in the dream context, would often be fear, trauma, whatever makes you shudder. If known in the dream context, it technically isn't a sub, but is a manifestation of what you fear or what have you. Anti-subs can be defeated just like a nightmare, be brave and stand up against it.
As birdman would say, welcome to the bandwagon. :bandwagon:
yay, finally got my recall back up to par.
Time to get back into lucids and awesome post-apocalyptic dreams.
Argh, my recall sucks and despite my recording of my dreams, I can't get my recall up :saddowns:

Ok, while I'm normally a skeptic, most of what you have said I have experienced, so I'll give it a go. I'm not sure how I can hold on to a lucid dream, though. I've had my share but it's always a struggle to control my actions in them. Is there anyway to extend my control, or even have lucid dreams on demand?
Im trying to WILD from being fully awake and my thoughts always go back to one thing:
Manual breathing.
Does this affect the WILD since my thoughts are on my breathing?
I think I've been playing almost too much Garry's Mod (is that even possible?) recently. Last night's dream also involved a physgun.
Trying to get my girlfriend to start lucid dreaming so she can stop having nightmares/terrors all the time. What's a good reality check?
[editline]24th April 2011[/editline]
I usually do the whole "hold your breath" thing.

I do multiple since some have chances to fail.
Hand, books, electricity and nose pinching.

yeah nose pinching is what I meant by holding my breath
I find it is difficult to lucid dream with all of the measures that are advised. I see it differently. Every person is different so logically, the same methods of inducing lucid dreams, may or may not apply. Personally I dont do anything on the list yet I have no issue.
Within every person there is light and dark, and those forces often embody functions and personality traits. Your anti self may be the personification of fear or hate or any other dark emotion, and likewise with your Sc.
You may choose the believe this next part if you will but it is the truth, I always lucid dream. I literally cannot sleep without lucid dreaming. And it is possible to gain a relationship of sorts with your Sc. It allows you to gain a greater grasp on yourself, your motives.
I may be new to the forum, but I am not a newcomer to lucid dreams, And if people have questions that they would ask me I would be happy to answer.
Last night I called up those birds who are my sc. They Pushed me down then pecked my left eye. I felt the pain all day. I'm beginning to think it's not my sc. It might be my antiself.

I think I have a new best friend.
Sounds like you've been enlightened, sort of like on the Buddhism context, being lucid all the way.
Would you mind giving this thread your advice and lucid dreams once in a while, it would really give this thread a lot more life.
Well, if I'll share my story of possible anti-subism.
I'm not sure if what I'm about to tell is a placebo or not, but I had a lucid dream that I couldn't remember fully, I only had glimpses, some which stayed for a few days (none traumatic), so I had to ask my sub what actually happened. Well, I was somewhat possessed and did some really dark things I would never do. When I heard about that, it made me shuddered at myself.
I'm going to sleep soon, going to try to get clearer imagery and better recall even if it takes me chanting "recall lucid clarity" all night :colbert:
I dreamed a dream.
Of a room clouded in dust. And with every step taken there was an audible crack. The skulls of people littered the ground, and before me in a throne of skulls, sat my anti-self. He was dressed in a black suit, his hair long and black. He gave a devilish grin and before me rose a chess board. There was only a white king, and all of the black pawns were queens. And he said " Humanity is naturally cruel, it is a fact that cannot be avoided. Humanity will destroy this world, and any others if they get the chance. Wars are waged over patches of land, and now many have even forgotten that. Come to me, let us be one, let us destroy all these crimes in a blaze of evil that will cover the world."
I responded " You are wrong, While what you say is true, but you fail to see the greater picture. For the first time in history humans are caring. We fight for human rights, for peace. Humans are headed towards peace. For the first time in the history of the world humans look around and wonder what are we doing?"
He responded " Humanity will not break it's self destructive pattern, and good intentions may have risen, but the path to hell is paved with good intentions. The worst evil's are done in the name of good. You may ponder is darkness the absence of light or is it just faster? Anywhere light is darkness is already there, waiting for it."
And I woke.
After this my resolve was shattered for a long time, as I thought he was my Sc. I became malevolent. A being who drew pleasure from acting the wishes of darkness. Do not make the same mistake. I will be kicking myself from now until the end of time what i did. Evil feels good. Do not be drawn in. I have escaped the pit. And Have become close to my real Sc in doing so. Closer than I could imagine. And it took a simple thing. I faced my demon.
Perhaps I will tell you what happened in the confrontations between myself and it. I have faced my demon, my worst fear and come out the other side. It is the hard way. I tell you this so you can avoid my mistakes.
Was laying down the other day, and I suddenly fell asleep. Woke up in the Living room facing my back door, saw it was raining outside, did a hold-your-nose-and-breath reality check for NO reason at all, and immediately entered sleep paralysis. I must say, it was fucking cool. I had my eyes closed, so there were no crazy hallucinations, I saw a bunch of static looking building like figures coming at me, as if from below, and heard people screaming; not like terrified screaming, but party-hardy like screaming. Was disappointed when it ended :saddowns:

How do you lucid dream btw? Do they always come naturally like you said or did you have to follow a method before being able to LD naturally?
[editline]25th April 2011[/editline]
the way you write is amazing
Thank you. As for how I lucid dream, I have always done so. Granted I do meditate regularly. It is a matter of finding your own path, as the path of one is not always fit for the path of many.
Good luck.
