hooooooooly shiiiiit
I fell asleep listening to abbey road, the earliest part I remember was at the beginning of she's so heavy, and then I felt like I had a 30 minute long dream or more, but I woke up to the very last measure of the very same song.
that was intense
whenever ii try lucid dreaming ihave this sudden feeling of falling backwords, which makes you jolt from bed, which ruins your lucid dreaming. anyone else have this problem?
in other news, off to bed again !
I had a dream I was driving my explorer back and forth through the river on the mexican border giving rides with the WoW instance finder. I'm pretty sure that's a culmination of playing WoW, watching breaking bad, and my car smelling like cat piss from me leaving the skylight open when it rained.
I have trouble doing reality checks during dreams so last night I attempted to listen to a lucid dreaming mp3... but I couldn't get to sleep. I just had an idea though, I could set it so that theres a few hours of no music then suddenly the track kicks in... but then I thought to myself, why the lucid dream track? Why not something I will recognise as me being in a dream?
So my idea is to have a few hours with no music then suddenly have "Non, je ne regrette rein". Does anyone have any idea if this will have any effect?

Or replace it with "Dream is Collapsing" Hans Zimmer
Hopefully iwont fall to sleep during wild.
At long last i have made a reality check in my dreams!
thanks for the thread guys, amazing help.
PS: when i made the reality check (hold my breath) i suddenly floated. it was my first lucid i think.

Lucid dreaming mp3s are bad. They're placebos, so if they work, great, but they're not supposed to.
There's no shortcut, unfortunately. If there was, I'd be sharing it with you guys. It's a brain activity just like anything else, and it'll take some work to get there no matter what. :( Sorry. Stick to the usual plan.
Also if you do the music wrong even by a margin of 1-2 minutes, it'll fuck up your sleep. I don't recommend it.
I found out the hard way by waking up as soon as it played basically. Then ending up waking up at 1pm... so yes... maybe not.
On the note of music affecting sleep, My first lucid came about by the radio. I had my alarm set to radio because I hated the beeping. Coincidentally, the time I woke up every day was during the Bob & Tom show. Every morning I would wake up to their dirty jokes and annoying laughs. I was in a dream, something like a Panzer 4 tank following a yellow AMX gremlin down the streets of LA. I was standing next to the car when I heard Bob talking about tampons or something on that subject, and realized I was dreaming. Unfortunately, the radio also woke me up 10 seconds later.
Needless to say, I woke up laughing.
I just had a dream where I was writing two dreams that I had in my journal....
OH FUCK
I just remembered another dream about that damn ship. That evil, messed up, old cruise liner that I had a few dreams about a few months ago. I was some kind of noire detective, I had been dropped off on the ship, while it was long away at sea, to investigate a mass murder. There was a pile of bodies on the main deck, soaked from a storm the night before, and already rotting. It seems whatever was in the bottom of the ship in the first dreams that was fucking the place up was still there. The only one holding the ship, its small crew, and its mysterious stowaway in balance was the captain. Need I mention the captain was dead. Ripped up into lots and lots of tiny little pieces, usually about as big as an orange. They just kept bringing 5-gallon buckets of gore out of the bridge. When I asked to go see the bridge, the first mate got all serious and his eyes went hollow and he said "You do not want to be in there." In the end there were about 6 5-gallon buckets full of what used to be the captain. I've seen gore before, but this time it was different. It made me want to puke. I could smell it rotting. Shortly after, the radio stopped working. I was assured it would be fixed soon and I should not be worried. I went to sleep and was awakened rudely by a sudden sharp sound of metal bending and twisting. I've always loved that sound, but this time it was fucking creepy. It made me feel like the ship itself was crying. After that, the first mate told me the engines had stopped working and the radio was beyond repair (The ship had massive old diesel engines, and a lot of them, too) We were stranded at sea. Up until now, I didn't know anything of the stowaway, as my memories of the previous dreams were not accessible. I asked when they would be fixed, and I was told the mechanic was among the pile of bodies. I had a history of mechanics work, so I asked to go see the engines, to see what could be done. Again, everyone I asked told me I did not want to go down to the engine room. I finally convinced the janitor to take me down. He took me down to the belly of the ship, gave me a small flashlight (barely worked) and said "This is as far as I go." I made the mistake of asking why, and his eyes got the same hollow look as before and he said "That's where He lives." Being that the engines were down, the ship was running low on power, so they shut off everything non-essential, including the lights in the lower levels. In the complete dark, with a shitty flickering flashlight, all alone, I started down the hallway. trash littered the floor. I walked into the engine room, and began looking at the engines, they were in two rows of five or six. And these things were HUGE 12-cylinder diesel battleship engines. I could see nothing wrong with the engines themselves, but I kept thinking I saw something pale, out of the corner of my eye, staring at me, watching me. I stared walking back, when I heard it start following me. At this point I was freaking the fuck out. I sprinted right the fuck out of there and up to the upper deck, and I don't remember anything after that.

The scary part was, I was the original captain of the ship.
so how does FILD work?
I never remember dreams and the ones I do are always bad.
Like falling off a cliff or sitting in a car and it rolls onto the road and a truck's coming and OH GOD WTF AM I GOING TO D- then I wake up.
I have recently been reading "Exploring the World of Lucid Dreaming" by Stephen LaBerge & Howard Rheingold. It's like the OP, expanded to 313 pages.
I highly recommend it. It may be 21 years old, but it's worth a read.
The Mental Visualization Training in the Appendix has been especially helpful for me. Here's a super cut down version:
1. Find a small object, that fits entirely within your vision.
2. Concentrate on looking at, absorbing it's entirety into your vision.
3. After your eyes begin to strain a few minutes in, close your eyes and watch the afterimage. Don't try to keep the image, let it come to you. Keep looking at it until it fades.
4. Repeat. The after image will gain clarity and become crisp and vivid.
Part 2 involves seeing it floating in front of you.

Okay, I've started a real dream journal. Last night's two epic dreams, which I only remembered once I got myself some cereal and took a piss, are taking up a surprising amount of space. I'll try to type them up later.
Wow. I just did something freaking amazing. I'll wait...hold on lemme check...5 more days to confirm it. If what I did actually was what I think it was, I am going to be so amazingly smug for the rest of my life for it.
you're probably wrong because you're going to say you predicted the future or something. you didn't.
on a unrelated off topic note, why do i dejavu to much?
its like i knew something before it even happened.
but dreaming about the future is unknowingly weird.
What's the maximum amount of time your body has to be asleep for you to start dreaming? I want to try and have as many different dreams as possible in one night.

Deja Vu tends to happen mostly in younger people, and it happens when your memory neurons are growing. I won't get into the details because it's complicated, but think of it as like a memory misfire.

Just sleep for a long time, preferably without an alarm. Generally you only remember 3 dreams a night (and even then, usually only one is the defining dream), so don't try to do anything crazy unless you're lucid.
Sleep paralysis is creepy as fuck.
I don't even recall having a dream, just going under into paralysis. Basically, I saw a spider on my ceiling. I have a severe fear of spiders because I'm a giant pussy so naturally I started to shit myself. I couldn't move, everything I did pushed me down. I couldn't shout, and then my vision started to blur and then randomly changed colours. Red, green, blue, yellow. At this time I was panicking quite badly, which set my breathing off track and probably is what woke me up.
People say that sleep paralysis is horrible and scary, I just found it weird.
I just had the coolest dream that I've had in a long time.
I build like a hang-glider, but I built it with a motor on the back of an armchair, and then I just flew around in my mechanized armchair glider. It sounds lame, but it was really awesome.
I've been having terrible recall as of late, mostly due to the lack of vitamin B.
I have no bananas, no 7-up revive nor watermelons, and neither can I get them :saddowns: [sp]garry plz put sad smilies, k thx[/sp]. I don't have a market nearby me that sells bananas, vending machine for cheap 7-up revive freakin' broke and watermelons are sold rarely in my college.
Can anyone suggest a source of vitamin b6 for me :downs:
Go into town to any grocery store or pharmacy, pick up a bottle or two of 500mg B12 tablets. I literally just did that with my friend, though for a different reason.

Oh Zin, were you serious about this, because I learned japanese by playing a japanese drama in my sleep. Is that right?
I had a dream where I met vnl's avatar or something
it was really weird
Which one?
Boo. been in high spirits for once, might get back into LD'ing v:v:v
I was reading "Bio-Meat: Nectar" last night (pretty much a manga about man made monsters that can reproduce in 30 seconds and eat everything but metal and glass) and when I went to sleep in the morning I had at least 3 dreams pertaining to surviving in a world full of those monsters, it wasn't scary just really trippy. One of them included me watching tv in my granny's trailer while some lady I didn't know was laying on the floor, after watching tv for a little while my aunt came in and asked if she could change the tires on her truck. I was so confused.
