I've lost track of my sub. Attempts to summon him were unsuccessful, and the rapidly changing hallways with doors upon doors upon doors, stairs, upon stairs, guard after guard, rapid thoughts permeating into my dream and messing with my recall, Ugh.
I'm beginning to think my mind has locked away my sub deep in that vault and doesn't want it to come out. Problem is, I'm having a hard time controlling events in the dreams, like a hall that flips gravity the moment you orient yourself right side up, or a hall that just vanishes. Tips? thoughts? The recall is nearly fine, and I can experience things fairly clearly, but it's just that my control has all but vanished since college started again.
Last month, I fell asleep on the floor. I woke up every 30 minutes for about 5 times, the best part was, all of the dreams were connected so its like when I woke up, only half of my body is actually awake but the other half is still sleeping.
Never had a Lucid Dream since that day, before that I had lucid dreams at least once every two week.
Still trying to fully master my dreams.
I love dreams like that.

Try going down one of those halls and looking for a door that says "subconscious"? Sometimes adding a bit of logic to a dream can be the most effective. Really, your imagination is the limits with these things, but in times where you're not feeing extremely imaginative, you can just treat the way you would a real-life scenario. You're looking for somebody in an office, so you look at the signs on the door.
Does anybody else experience really realistic dreams? In the past year, my dreams have been so realistic. I'll feel pain, the strain in my muscles when I'm trying to do something, the shortness of breath if I've extended myself too much, it's awesome. Save a couple of scenarios where I've been breathing underwater or lucid dreams where I've run non-stop, most of my dreams are fairly real. It can be fun.
More on last nights dream.
The other part I have some memory of had me in a house, I could feel the dream starting to destabilize a bit so I walked over to a fridge. I wanted to try Uguu~, but as soon as I opened the door, the dream completely fell apart, almost in an instant.
Also, at another point, I summoned something with an audible pop.
Odd dream last night, I was at uni with my close non-uni friends as well as somebody who I used to know from primary school who was with a group of random people I dont know. The whole dream revolved around me being a girl for some strange reason, my friends acted as they normally would towards me but didnt know it was me. i went around the uni meeting new people as it was some kind of freshers week when the guy from my primary school started confronting me saying I wasn't really a girl and he was out to prove it. I got phonecalls from him pretending to be from head office saying they have no proof of who i am etc. Very odd. I was aware of the fact that I am a male and now a girl but it just felt natural as if I knew exactly why it had happened. anyway so I walked out of the uni when a car goes past and i realise its this guy driving:

I was just like, "holy shit thats that guy from 3rd Rock". All of a sudden I get a feeling of deep loathing for that guy and remember that this guy killed the girl I was now controlling. As he drove past i could tell he was shocked to see me, he stopped and got out of the car with a bat. I became briefly lucid at this point and was having a moment of not being able to run, he knocked me to the ground and was about to hit me when the guy from my primary school hit him over the head with a rock.
Can't remember any more after that.
Scuse grammar, falling to sleep. Ta.
*Ugh rereading that was horrible, i'll tidy it up when i get some sleep".
Just a quick question.
If I wake up, and/by the feeling you get when you fall really hard for a moment, I've read somewhere that this feeling is your astral body returning to your physical body. Is this true?

Astral projection does not exist. Sorry buddy, that's the truth.

Oh now I understand.
It seemed nobody was able to help me when I first made this post in July, so forgive me for bumping it, but I would really like some advice on the whole thing:
I've been having some trouble recently, quite a while ago I started trying to lucid dream, and was able to almost do WILD quite often, i'd just stay still and everything would go smashingly (Although I've never actually gone through the paralysis, I always decide against it at the last second, but the sensation was definately cool)
Problem is, I can't seem to do that anymore.
I can just lay there for an hour and i'd always inadvertedly move, but the biggest problem is I keep moving my eyes now. I may also open my eyelids ever so slightly unintentionally. Is there anything I may have forgotten, or some sort of cause for this type of thing?
And in the months i've tried lucid dreaming I've had only a few really short dreams which is a little disheartening
Also one thing interesting is I've made my dream recall really good, but the problem is I'm now going through a small phase of real-life dissociation and confusing dreams for real events which is weird as hell.
Since then I seemed to have figured one thing out; me "Opening my eyes slightly" was generally not actually because of me opening my eyes, rather the sensation was actually an illusion, and my eyes where just going crazy after hours in front of a computer screen and therefore creating patterns similar to the light from the windows. Pretty weird stuff.
fucking shit I did my laundry in my dream and I woke up and I still had to do my laundry
Try having a dream that you do all of your exams, in detail, and they go really badly
and then waking up and having to do your exams for real :v:
I keep falling asleep while trying sleep paralysis. Any tips?
I keep falling asleep while trying sleep paralysis. Any tips?
Music. Putting some quiet music on can give you something to focus on until you WILD. Works for me.
I love dreams like that.
You bet, it was amazing.
Well, its quite depressing I haven't got any Lucid dreams recently. I want to improve my dream control.
Also, last night I got a sleep paralysis and panicked. Its a terrible experience.
I've been through many great paralysis but this is my first bad one.
You just have to keep at it.
Wait, so, for WILD, I need to try and get myself into sleep paralysis, and then what?
I was trying WILD last night, I was sitting there trying to imagine myself going into a dream I had the other day. It felt like I was floating, as if I was in low-gravity and someone was pushing my body around and flipping it. I felt like I was almost dreaming, but all I saw was the blackness of my closed eyes. Was I close?
Forgot to add that I stopped because of the fact that my legs became physically tired. It was weird, not sure how to describe it but I just had to turn over and fall asleep normally.
Gah, I need a spike to my memory.
I haven't remembered a dream in ages.

Getting pretty damn close there, yeah.
I should try to WILD tonight.
So, I had one of my most notable dreams last night. I wasn't lucid at all though.
The dream started with me opening the dungeon finder from WoW. I had cued up and was put in a store, three of my friends were there that came from the cue. Something hit me that I was in a dream. I remembered that I had no money in my wallet so I made $100 in my wallet by thought and felt it in my pocket to be sure. We reached the end of the isles and saw a single man behind a table for checkout. I decide to get some cereal because I was hungry, I look at the types they have and picked up the Reese's Puffs. But then I remember that it was a dream and I had as much money as I want. So I pick up some other boxes of different kinds to mix together. I get to the checkout guy and make a final check on my wallet. I get a close up view of my pocket and see a fifty and a couple of tens in it. I check out and go to a table and start opening the boxes. My other friend was there at the table I had a box that had potato chips in it for some reason and I gave it to him. I did a reality check, but it passed. At that point I look into my wallet, my money was gone. I didn't know what to do, I did another RC and it passed again. I was at a loss for words, I didn't know what to think at that point. I was then put in a place that looked like it was from Fallout: New Vegas I do another RC and it still passes. I'm ported once again into a truck that I was driving through a dark tunnel with someone else. There were abandoned cars scattered around. I once again do a RC and feel my tong press against my teeth. I even try pressing my thumb against my other hand and it hit it firmly. The guy sais to me "You think this is a dream? This is reality". I think about my real life and have flashes from my past go through my head, I couldn't fully grasp the idea of that all being a dream with this apocalyptic setting as reality. We make it to the end of the tunnel, there was no room for the truck to make it through the blockage ahead. Out from the mist and darkness were wolfs that looked like they were zombies. I pull out a grenade launcher and aim at one of the wolfs, the other guy takes aim with his gun, I wake up.
I honestly don't know what to make of the fail RCs and not even a hint of lucidity from me.
Wow, is it just me, or is going back to school giving people more LDs? The whole summer, I was like 'why is nobody on this thread', and now page 44 is filled within the day. Weird stuff.
Not as weird as the dream I had, though... I've been staying up too late most nights to have enough REM sleep for a dream, but this morning I waked up ten minutes before my alarm went off and went back to sleep. I dreamt of Pokemon, but when the main characters (Ash, Brock, and some chick I didn't recognize) arrived I realized these were the new voice actors (I'm such an oldfag...), so I walked off in disgust looking for somewhere Pokemon wouldn't follow. I saw a church on a hill and thought "Great, Pokemon wouldn't ever have churches... except that weird one (in Diamond/Pearl), but that one is just creepy..." So as I was thinking this, the setting changed to a frontier town in the Wild West, and as I looked for something quick to do, since time was running out, a man walking next to me pulled a pistol and aimed at a group of four guys, who I recognized as Wild Bill Hickock and... similarly notorious Wild West figures (not Jesse James, and I can't think of any others). I panicked and dropped to the ground, since I was right between him and them. The man said "This is me shooting" or something, then fired. He then said "And this is me (Ugh, I can't remember the word but being hurled backward, basically)". He then took four shots in the chest.
My sub is silly...

Someone necro'd a lucid dreaming thread in General Discussion. The link to this thread has since been posted there, probably the reason for the spike in interest.

I've said this before, and I'll say it again: Good job, but RCs don't always work. If there's something that you know is definitely, 100%, absolutely, positively impossible, you're dreaming - even if RCs don't work.
One RC that is pretty much a failsafe for me is the number check. If you look at a number that's more than a few digits - time or prices are good examples) - glance away, and look back, it'll be different. Something about the brain not remembering numbers well... ask Orkel :v:

Yeah I think that thread was around before the v1 of this thread was.

talk about ancient posting
Shit, today I went lucid. I remember being on my bed, and then when I got off it, I was on a bench. I lost my balance and woke up. It felt so real. Then I hurt my foot because when I woke up, I kicked the fuck out of the floor.
Had SP last night. Didn't have the usual pounding in my ear so I didn't know at first until i tried to touch my head and it felt like my arm was numb and I like turned into a ghost. Once I realized this I tried sitting up. I actually did but everything turned black and I was like floating. I imagine being back in my room(all the furniture was arranged0they way I had it like 3-4 years ago) I tried turning on a light but nothing happened. I stood up and managed to summon a lighter in my hand after a few tries and I spent the last bit of the LD sparking it and trying to get it to light haha.
So this was my second LD and my first time doing WILD.
I've always had trouble lucid dreaming. Once I had a dream about my attempts to lucid dream :|
The entire dream was entirely focused on me lucid dreaming, and I didn't even realize I was actually dreaming. The good thing though is that at least it's embedded in my sub-conscience.
Finally managed to get another lucid dream, though it was in the morning. Here's the log I typed up for it:
DREAM ON THE MORNING OF THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 1
-False awakening, 'wake up' going downstairs
-I had already woken up in the morning, and it was nighttime in the dream
-After a few moments thought while walking downstairs, pass it off due to dream logic
-Look out the front door
-Too dark for me to see out of, don't like; turn on the porch lights
-Go to bathroom, which is near backdoor
-Turning on the porch light turned on the sun, thus it's daytime now
-Realize this, tongue through teeth and nose pinch
-Lucid
-Excitement, dream starts slipping away
-Hand rub, spin
-Manage to stabilize just for a few moments
-Wake up
Oddities I noticed about this dream after becoming lucid/waking up:
-First lucid dream and my subconscious already kicks ass; for my front and back door, we have really reflective windows. However, instead of windows there were wire screens. I've been scared of seeing my reflection in my dreams, so I can only assume that my sub was looking out for me by changing that.
-Also, instead of 'waking up' in my bed (where I would have to pass a mirror and another window), I woke up going down the stairs right after the mirror and window.
-I cannot do a lightswitch RC, as using a lightswitch turned on the lights. Well, the sun. But still. Fortunately, tongue-through-teeth and nose pinch RC's work splendidly.
-What made me do an RC was how odd my backyard looked. It kinda had a TF2 visual style about it, like, with grass being really fluorescent, and with water (which is another oddity, there is no water in my backyard) being really bright and clear.
That was pretty awesome, I can't wait to try again. Probably gonna take a nap later and see if I don't go lucid.
I've been doing some mental visualization practice, it's been working surprisingly well.
My dreams are no longer foggy or anything!
Entered that accursed series of halls again in an attempt to find my lost SC. However, the more trips I take into there, the harder it gets to stay lucid. The halls are distorting themselves, the doors are unmarked (and refuse to mark themselves despite my focusing), and the guards have completely vanished. It's like the halls are alive.

It seems like your sub is trying to show you something; or either fucking with you, trying to prepare yourself for the weird oddities of LDing..
I had a lucid last night. I decided to just chill/roll with it and not really do anything exciting.
I'll just copy paste my post from the lucid dreaming thread since I had no idea this one existed
My first (and I think only lucid dream) occurred when I was very young, a black man was leading me through the carpark of my condo when I stopped and slapped myself on my face, my hand slid like it was striking butter and I immediately thought "cool i'm dreaming" The next part is a bit weird though because although I knew I was dreaming I was too young to understand what that meant so I just carried on following the black guy
SP is a different story though, I used to have that a lot because I had trouble sleeping when I was young so I used to just lay very still in bed causing SP to occur.
Edited:
Actually I do recall another lucid dream, it took place at my school, every day my principle would have us gather on the field near the sports supply locker. He warned us several times not to go near it but I did anyway and this beast jumped out of the locker and tried to hit me. The next day (since this was a dream it just went to the next day very suddenly) the monster escaped and for some reason while it was chasing me I realised that I was in a dream, I managed to make my self fly but it was short lived since the excitement woke me up
Tried doing the music thing mentioned earlier in the page. Unfortunately half the Machinarium soundtrack came up (in lossless .FLAC no less) so it just creeped me the fuck out during SP. I mean, it's stuff like this
