I fell asleep in class during lecture the other day and I experienced sleep paralysis. It wasn't scary, but more like "aww dammit I need to take notes." Also, I didn't experience any dreamlike hallucinations, its just I couldn't move anything, other than my eyeballs.
Last night I had some pretty interesting results. I hadn't been successful in my WILD attempt because I had a slight headache that lasted most of the day and I wasn't tired until about 3am. I started my first attempt and listened to some brainwave entertainment while relaxing in an almost meditative state. It just was difficult to really "focus" on relaxation due to the headache I had. Eventually though I ended up passing out on my own will because trying to WILD really intensified the headache.
I then woke up around 6:30am eager to try once more; mind you at the time I had really only slept for about 3 hours. I was very eager to make my attempt by proceeding with my relaxation method this time without a headache. The problem I had though was that my eyes just wouldn't stop shifting so much, and because it was the early morning even the shades over my windows a lot of light poured in making it hard to keep my eyes shut and focused. I stood up, went to the bathroom and emptied my bladder, drank a small glass of water, and returned to bed and fashioned a blind fold out of a shirt with nice material. I was comfortable well enough and took a melatonin pill to help promote sleep because it seemed as soon as I woke the want to sleep simply disappeared. I started relaxing, just observing my thoughts as they came by and really involved myself in my mind and the process of falling asleep.
Then I noticed that the headache earlier had still been there and was returning again so it made trying to sleep very difficult. Eventually I took off the blind fold watched some Youtube videos about the Minecraft 1.8 Pre-release and just got comfortable enough to want sleep again, to which I did without any LD attempt. I remember a few dreams I did have in that period from when I finally fell asleep again at 10am-12pm. Good thing is dream recall is easy for the most part. The problem is I don't want to take the easy way into Lucid Dreaming with MILD or DEILD. I really want to induce a Lucid Dream through waking life. It's the Holy Grail and I am determined to master it.
Here's the notes from my experimentation journal:
Time to Bed: 3:16am Date: 15/9/2011
Supplements ?: NONE on 1st Attempt, 3mg Melatonin on 2nd (I Sometimes experiment with Melatonin, Vitamins, Natural Foods like Bananas)
Audio Supplements ?: Lucid Dreaming Theta Frequency Generator (4-7khz) with ambient music (15 Minutes)
Relaxation Techniques: Did simple before bed stretches (Shoulders, Legs, Feet, Jaw, Neck, Fingers, Calves, Hands, Etc)
Technique: WILD as well as WBTB in the event I awoke in a micro-awakening (Which I had)
Results:
1st Attempt: Headache prevented true relaxation which delayed the onset of sleep paralysis. As I proceeded to relax limbs started to feel numb and I felt a certain disconnection, however; I still could feel the cool air of my bedside fan blowing on my upper right shoulder and face. After 20 minutes I witnessed what may be considered Hypnogogic Sensations with the occasional flash of color that seemed very faded to the point I could almost doubt I saw anything. The flashing faded and after a few more minutes I got a brighter flashing and an almost traveling through a wormhole light show that also was very light that it was hard to really tell what I saw. These senses then faded and my headache became too great to relax and I ended that attempt.
2nd Attempt (6:30am): After my first attempt I fell asleep and woke up three hours later. My mind already felt very alert and awake and I knew it would be difficult to become tired enough to relax. I kept the same position as when I woke up and attempted to WILD but my eyes were moving so much it was hard to relax as they also kept opening due to light leaking into my room. I ended calmly and used the bathroom, came back and took 3mg of Melatonin with a small glass of water and returned to bed. I fashioned a rather comfortable blind fold/sleep mask out of a shirt and continued to relax. Similar results as first but lack of the urge to sleep again made complete relaxation impossible and headache returned. I ended the attempt and remained awake for three more hours until finally falling back asleep at 10am.
Well that's the experimentation entry, I hope you guys enjoy reading over it, I'm always up for suggestions.
Saw this pretty kicking rad dream last night.
I was eating at a restaurant. Suddenly some guy comes on stage and tells everyone that he has hidden tiny bombs inside the shrimp we're eating, and has a detonator in his hand. He tells us how the bombs will melt our stomachs and turn our fingertips black before we die.
So anyways, after he's boasted for a while, I somehow manage to escape, and get sent to planet Grundwald for training to become a galactic cop to defeat this evil bomb guy. But the training proves to be too tough; it required us to swim a pool back and forth for an entire month without breaks. I then get put into a special division, where they train us lighter.
After the training is over, they pull out a shrinking beam and shrink us into 2-3cm height. We sneak into the evil guy's lair, and find out that he isn't just some evil guy, he's a demon from hell who can only be beaten by reading a magical scroll that we just happened to have in our pockets.
I start reading the scroll aloud, he tries to stop me but my buddy galactic cops are keeping him at bay. The scroll text was like if Lord of the Rings met the Bible met Lovecraft. I finally finish reading the scroll and a beam of light from the heavens hits the bomber's face, and transforms him into a small floating harmless seahorse. And we cheer, and then I woke up.

Also, I've got a lot of interesting things to share about the whole "anti-sub" thing. It won't help you out much, probably, but it's fascinating to know just how far back in history the idea goes.
Do tell.
That entire subject is pretty fascinating, even if mostly bandwagon placebo.
I find it strangely entertaining and awesome that your brain can accept those sorts of things as truths so easily. Also, had an amazing dream, I should've written keywords. Can't remember a thing, except that it was so vivid. All my dreams now are vivid, but the memory doesn't last long.

I wish my dreams were as awesome as yours, I hardly remember my dreams half the time anyways. :/

Shit, man, right a novel or something. That's one pretty amazing dream.
Most of mine are surreal sorts of imagery that confuses me during and after the dream, like when I was walking through my old house, with my old friends looking in from the basement door with no eyes, and showing up in closets when I tried to hide from them.

For me it's the exact opposite, I couldn't remember jack shit before school started.
Maybe it's because I've hit a curve in dream recall, but holy shit. Everything is so vivid since school started, and I no longer dream as if I'm playing video games without feeling or thinking.
Ok, I'm definitely going to have a WILD tonight. I'm ready, prepared, determined, and focused. Wish me luck, I look forward to sharing my dream with you all tomorrow.

I don't remember the whole thing because I'm tired and can't be bothered to get my book. Basically like 20,000 years ago, when we were all nomadic and stuff, certain people became shamans, and they basically communicated with the gods to guide and direct the tribe around them. One important part of that was conquering the darkness inside themselves and being able to harness it and control it instead of that darkness controlling them, and this was generally done during a coma-like haze.
That sounds to me an awful lot like lucid dreaming. Also sounds like Jake's incident.
Hey! New to these forums and found this thread, anyway weird dreams recently
Yeah going to try some of these methods out. It'd be great. Wonder what my subs like.....probably drunk :)
I've read through the thread a bit and things don't add up. I mean this "uroborous" guy. you guys have to do all this stuff to do lucid and he does it off the fucking bat???? load of SHIT. i hope he reads this, what a fucking liar. the rest of you, yeah i believe but come on.
anyway, dreamt i was a book, and people kept throwing me away. It was fucking weird. ended up in a libary. then i woke up.
Actually, it isn't unheard of. Very few people (zin had the statistics earlier) can do that.
Last night's dreams weren't anything special. The one I remember the best was about me and two others being trained at the Alps to become snipers while wearing chicken skin (feathers included) as our clothing.

I used to Lucid Dream like it was nothing but then I got really shittily depressed and my recall went haywire :smith:

Actually what originally got me interested in lucid dreaming is my friend IRL can naturally lucid dream and did so without training. I thought to myself "Damn, that would be fucking sweet" and about a year later I found the V1 of this thread.

You'd be surprised that a good number of people have a more developed ability to Lucid Dream. Sort of like how some people are more naturally athletic. In most cases that I've seen people who have had prior sleep disorders have a better chance of sleep paralysis and conscious Lucid Dreams than those of us who haven't.
As for my attempt lastnight I failed again. For some reason I just could not enter sleep paralysis; I did relax my muscle tension, felt very relaxed and tired, but to no avail. After around an hour I gave up because it got to the point to where I was wide awake and turning 5:00am. Maybe tonight I'll succeed, anyone got any advice? I seem to have the steps down pat, but I must be doing something wrong.
I had a dream that my dad was dead last night.
A majority of it was me sobbing whenever I thought about him.
I wish I didn't remember that dream.
[editline]17th September 2011[/editline]
I keep getting dreams where I feel extreme emotions.
First, a few months ago, I had a dream where I felt paternal love.
More recently, I have felt powerful romantic love, fear (not "oh noes, it's gonna eat me", but "oh no, all technology everywhere has been hacked, specifically airplanes, and now they're all flying into the ground"), and most recently, super-sized sorrow and sadness and whatnot.
Living of 5-6 hours for the past year, help :suicide:
weird damn dream. well not really. through the whole thing was just someone punching me in the face. over and over
Wish i had a chair to break over the bastard. Remembering my dreams ain't too hard, it's controlling them being lucid that i can't do dammit
yessss
had a dream about alison brie masturbating
shes very hot

Everything in lucid dreaming, as with most things, is based upon perseverance.
Also, flying is really fucking cool
What's the best way to remember doing reality-checks irl? without a watch.
[editline]18th September 2011[/editline]
Ye, and my dream this night was me in my bed with a friend getting high, strange since this friend doesn't smoke irl, and then later in the dream I was in the cafeteria of my school preparing to go in a flight ( I'm going to sweden/italy with school in a few months) with a few friends, then I was back in my room but this time there was some dirt blocks (like in minecraft) placed in line in the middle of it. I woke up and was like : what the christ
I usually just think backwards as my check, Just think exactly what happened and how you got where you are, I also use as a fail-safe the nose trick.
I had my first Lucid Dream early this morning, I am so excited! I'm only disappointed in the fact that it wasn't intentional. My goal is to master the WILD technique, so last night my plan went as so: Set my alarm for 4:00am so I could wake up in the later cycles of sleep to make a WILD attempt. I performed "Stop, Drop, & Roll" then attempted to induce a dream but failed and allowed myself to go to sleep.
A few hours later I woke up around 9:40am and was quite awake so I ended up watching a few YouTube videos and browse Facepunch until around 10:30am when I decided I'd sleep in a bit more like I usually do. At this point I was making no attempt to WILD and naturally fell asleep, however; I found myself in a rather unusual dream!
Dream Content: In my dream the first thing I remember was that I had been sitting in class listening to my old World History teacher from 9th grade. I continued along naturally with class and noticed that one of our assignments was to post in a discussion my teacher made on Facepunch that dealt with whatever historical event we were studying. This point in the dream my dream self was quite tired and for some reason I decided to lay my head down in a friend's lap; the interesting thing is that I recognized her as a close friend but in my dream world her name was another girl from school that I remember.
This part of the dream ends and I find myself standing in front of a stainless steel refrigerator looking for something to eat. The house I was in wasn't familiar and the lighting was very dim as if it were morning. I assumed I must have waken up and was thinking that I simply had a dream prior to waking up. Anyways, as I was looking through the fridge I remember distinctly picking up and peering into a bag full of lemons that were still fairly green and not ready to use. I then looked down and found myself completely naked! My dream self then ran to the bedroom where I guess I had been sleeping to put on the pair of boxers that in reality I was sleeping in.
Knowing this I then thought of the oddity of the situation and instinctively performed a reality check. The nose test failed, and naturally I perform multiple checks at a time and looked down at my hands. (Which funny enough I hadn't started performing this check until recently) This check proved I was dreaming. Simply looking at my hands resulted no result, but once I focused on them something felt different; they looked normal and felt normal but something just was off. My dream world then shook, my vision then tunneled and it was as if I were in an earthquake. I quickly dropped my hands and things returned to normal.
The dream world felt very unstable, and each movement I made almost felt as if I were intoxicated. I would consider this partial lucidity as I kind of went with the dream but still had control over my conscious dream self. I decided where I wanted to walk, and I knew what I was doing but it seemed like it was an already predetermined path. (If that makes any sense) Subconsciously I decided to explore my surroundings and walked downstairs. When I came to the bottom I noticed that diagonally from me there was this blue-ish/purple medium sized pillow on the ground that looked sort of like the Blob from those image macros--except it was just a pillow. My first thought was to try manifesting something out of thin air, I instantly thought "A gun!" I focused my intent on making a gun appear on the floor next to me, it did and it looked like some sort of magnum.
I then bent down and picked up the object and could feel its heaviness, with the sensation of cold hand carved wooden grips. My gun wielding hand took aim at the pillow but as I prepared to fire the world shook again like before and the began to fade to black. My first instinct was to rub my hands together to increase vividness but I couldn't drop the gun fast enough, and I soon found myself laying in my real bed. I performed a few reality checks and quickly jotted down the dream.
That was my first Lucid Dream, an odd one at that! I figure the reason it faded so shortly into the dream was because it was nearing noon and it was time for me to wake up. The fading process is so interesting, as if the dream is eating itself and all sight is slowly turning to black. This was also probably the reason the dream was so odd and unstable. If I gained lucidity let's say in the classroom portion of my dream it probably would have been more stable. With this success I hope that I now have a base to stand on and create more goals to which I'll hopefully improve my abilities.
I had a weird dream last night. I've been studying hard for my Mythology midterm, and it leaked into my dreams.
Basically the idea was, some crazy old archeologist/historian builds an altar in honor of Athene (or Athena, to most of you) in his basement, attempting to reenact old Greek rituals to add some authenticity to his latest paper. In an odd turn of events, Athene appears rather suddenly in his basement. Confusion ensues, and Athene explains to the old dude that when the temples were all destroyed by sieges and floods and various other problems, the gods lost their ability to physically enter the realm of humans and were stuck up in Olympus twiddling their thumbs. I guess altars are like the entry point or something.
Unfortunately, this surprising revelation killed the old guy and her entry destroyed the altar, so now Athene's stuck in the present. I think she wanted to both get back to Olympus to report her findings, as well as start opening up ways for the other gods to get through too. So she assimilates into society, trying to figure it out.
Not sure what happened next, but I woke up. I do like the idea, though...I may explore this further. Maybe start writing it out.
