i had an awesome dream with tons of airplanes and at one point I "woke up" and was like "wow that was an awesome dream! I liked the part with the planes!" but I was still sleeping I didn't realize it though, too bad.
That's why one should do a reality check every time when waking up Had one of them a couple of nights ago, went to talk about a dream to my grandmother and then woke up for real
I know, I really try to I forget a lot though
Tends to be hard to remember when half-asleep yeah
I tried to go to sleep at 7 tonight because I was feeling tired and I thought 'why not?' i actually managed to almost get to sleep for a little, but I'm just going to wait until like 10:30 to try again
Well, I ALMOST got to sleep paralysis last night. My breathing got faster and I started hallucinating, but then...I had to swallow spit and the whole thing was ruined. How the fuck do you not submit to swallowing your spit? That's my one big barrier thusfar.

Does anyone else ever always have dreams that are in the same location? Every time I dream it takes place in an alternate version of my home town. Like there's minor visual changes in contrast to real life, like a sky-scraper being constructed where a swamp is irl, and a large lake where this planned suburb community is irl. A wierd asian shopping center (?) is where my old high school was. Downtown Minneapolis (10 miles away from me) is occasionally in the dreams and is 10 times bigger than it is irl. The 'setting' is different too, I live in the upper-midwest which is usually a colder climate in the US, but it's always tropical here in my dreams. The strange thing is is that nothing changes every time I experience them, every little detail of the dreams locations are the same as the previous time.
I don't know if this happens to you guys, but sometimes when I fall asleep, I like to mentally shuffle through my dream worlds and ask myself "where shall I go tonight?" Usually that question alone is enough for my brain to do all the work and I don't need to focus on it. Good times. It's just a setting your brain really likes to use because it's familiar but not identical to what you know. Usually when you make up a world from scratch, some of them are "good" enough to your brain that they're default locations. I have like five or six, and I'm equally comfortable in any of them.
I love when you wake up from a dream and don't remember a thing, but then later in the day you suddenly remember the entire dream its just proof that we do dream every night
Smoke joints with Bob Marley under palm trees on a sandy beach I have to do that in a lucid
I had a dream I was in a gameboy color last night. That was...different.
Last night was successful. Got into sleep paralysis 5 times. Out of those, 3 times I got into a successful WILD, and after waking up from 1 of those WILDs I did a reality check which made it turn out to be a false awakening, causing a 4th lucid. Did my dream goal in two of the WILDs, smoked joints with Bob Marley under a palm tree on a sandy beach under the sun. Was relaxing as fuck. He was singing along. Also found out that when Bob Marley amps up his singing volume it will cause a tsunami. He's just that badass. The third WILD was a short one, woke up after I had done my usual dream stabilization/clarity routine. Was as vivid as the first two, though. The false awakening was lucid for a while, found myself in a large underground hall lit with torches, explored it a bit before waking up. Two of the SPs ended up with me waking up because having a black shadowy figure stand next to my bed creeped me out too much.
I never have to do the clarity stuff, always clear as day for me, and always has been. Also, what's the best way to wake up in dreams? Prying your "real life" eyes open isn't exactly the best method.
wow I had another dream involving posting on facepunch those are always so boring
I got some B12 supplements yesterday. I'll see if they'll effect vividity. I still need to work on keeping up with reality checks, though.
I just realized something very fucking weird. I've been talking about this subject and making threads about it here for more than a YEAR. THAT IS A LONG TIME. I tried a WILD last night. I heard people moving around outside my room, but I am entirely unsure weather it was my parents or not :v: I seriously have no idea. Is there any way to know? Also, every time I try WILD, my pulse increases to a point where it's uncomfortable. Is that normal? Anyway I got too bored/uncomfortable and went to sleep normally.
I tried wild last night too, and I think I got really close, I'm pretty sure I was in sleep paralysis but I never quite got into a dream, and then I couldn't fall back asleep afterwards...

I've never done WILD, but I'm pretty sure increased heart rate is normal. Breathing rate should go up too.
Oh what the.. There's two threads? Lucid Dreaming and Sleep and Dreams? ._. Why can't there just be the Megathread? I posted in the LD thread thinking that it was the Sleep and Dreams Megathread ):
Uhh, open your door? I've never done WILD, but I'm pretty sure increased heart rate is normal. Breathing rate should go up too.
Opening the door would require me to cancel the whole attempt though. Maybe next time I will try that, if just to assure myself weather I'm doing it right nor not :v:

Locked the other one, better to keep it in 1 thread.
Finally My dreams seems so clear nowadays, even though I'm not actively trying to remember them/LD. Last night I had a mostly pleasant dream in a new alternate version of my house, which was right on a street instead of down a secluded court.
I had a lucid dream last night, that was my third lucid dream I ever had. I'm trying to have more but its really difficult. I have a dream journal to help with the dream recall. In my dream I tried counting my fingers. The outcome was always 5-7 fingers on each hand. I also could run really fast and jump a little higher than usual. Orkel, since you are experienced in this type of thing, any suggestions to help me get into more lucid dreams and recall them?
The more I read about lucid dreaming, the more I fear I'll get scared shitless if I manage to get in one. Not sure if I should try.
There's absolutely no danger and you'll get over even the scariest fucking things pretty quickly.
Are you guys kidding me? Is sleep paralysis what you want to achieve? I've tried for years to end the sleeping paralysis I'm having. It's annoying as fuck, especially when I sometimes have to force myself to "wake up" because I'm having a paralysis "attack".I do that by quickly inhaling air trough my nose, sometimes it works sometime it doesn't, it's really hard to control your breathing. When I'm not successful I just lay there until I fall asleep. Worst feeling ever, can you imagine that there actually are people that are paralysed like that permanently. It sometimes occurs when I'm about to wake up in the morning, so I have to do the "force" wake up which make my head and body completely exhausted. Never knew you should enter a lucid dream from that state.
Can someone tell me if I'm doing MILD right? 1: Do reality checks throughout the day 2: Go to bed 3: Say "Am I dreaming" within rhythm of my breathing 4: When I feel more tired, I start to think about the dream I want to have, and I will eventually fall asleep and do a reality check in my dream. When I wake up, write in my journal. Is there anything I'm missing?
whenever I'm trying to get relaxed in my WILD attempts, my eyes will always start fluttering and moving around rapidly, to the point where I have to consciously focus on keeping them shut, or just allow them to open (sometimes I sleep with a mask on so it doesn't really matter) is there any reason for this
Read the OP, waiting for anti-sub fun times. Unless that's an inside joke. Surely though any sort of manifestation of 'negative emotions' can be dealt with with honest self reflection?
