It's certainly not 4-5 hours. you basically go through one stage of sleep, then fall asleep into another one while retaining consciousness and then you go lucid. In your head, it feels like 15 minutes or so. Realistically, it's about 30 minutes. Not too bad.
Oh Zinayzen I don't know if I should thank you or insult you being part of the pony fandom but another question: it's hard to WILD at night. I know. Strict time schedule. But, what should you DO to WILD; besides lay on your back?
I can't remember my dreams for shit now that I started trying. What should I do?

i cant recall anymore i lost interest
Perhaps your recall will come back on it's own. I know mine decides to stop and start on it's own sometimes.
Yes, he's a brony. it happens when i lose interest. i cba to write anything anymore. I'll probably start back up in a week or so when i'm more interested. the thing is that the effort involved versus the number of lucid dreams i actually have doesn't really make it worthwhile to pursue, or at least that's how i feel a lot of the time.
Can't be worse than my record so far. And I keep my DJ on my computer, so I don't even write them right away half the time.
For my DT conception design product i'm thinking of making a lucid dreaming device, similar to the android app but a dedicated device for it. What variables do you think it should measure? (keep in mind that this is just for concept and will not be made so go wild) I already have the basics down - sound - time - pulse Also what is the most important thing to you guys to aid you in lucid dreaming? (music, mood lighting, alarms, dream journals)
remembered 4 dreams last night!

If it was a smartphone app, it could have reality check reminders or something like that, but I guess people wouldn't't be walking around with a lucid dreaming device during the day :v:
Oh Zinayzen I don't know if I should thank you or insult you being part of the pony fandom but another question: it's hard to WILD at night. I know. Strict time schedule. But, what should you DO to WILD; besides lay on your back?
if it's hard to WILD, you're doing it wrong. It doesn't take any longer to do than actually falling asleep does. It feels like it, because when you're basically focusing on doing nothing time slows to an absolute crawl, but time's moving at an equal speed. Otherwise physics would be broken and bad things will happen. Just fall asleep. if you lay on your back to fall asleep, then do that. I always end up with one arm under the pillow, sideways, with one knee bent up and my foot resting on my knee. It's weird, but somehow it's how I sleep. I'm starting to wonder whether or not I should start suggesting FILD as the basis for newer dreamers to attempt waking into lucidity. It's harder, in a way, but it gives you something to focus on. Either way, though, quite frankly, you should be focusing on MILD instead of WILD. If you have a strict time schedule, you'll probably wake up via an alarm clock. Violently waking up (read: alarm clock) can result in memory wipes (for dreams), because it's such an aggressive shift. MILD is good for things like that because if you incorporate remembering your dreams into MILD, you'll remember them more frequently than you would with WILD, especially with an alarm clock. Ideally speaking, alarms aren't really good for dreaming. But they're essential, so you can't prioritize dreams over accomplishments. Ever. (that's partly how I failed one quarter :v:) My suggestion to you (I don't remember if I know you or your LD experience, but I'm going to assume you're new) is work on MILD instead of WILD and focus on keeping up on your dream journals. I can't stress it enough, journals are more important than your dreaming technique. 100% of the time. (music, mood lighting, alarms, dream journals)
If you made a device (presumably to measure lucidity), you'd want to include time+pulse at the same time. Learn how dream stages work, time+pulse will go hand in hand. You'd want to measure REM and body movement (when you go lucid, REM is more erratic and you move a bit more [not noticably]). There aren't many physical signs, unfortunately. If you REALLY wanted to go crazy, you could add some neurotoxin sensors to the brain, but I don't recommend that. Journals.
Nice dream last night. Was part of a mission to build the first moon base, the dream included everything from lifting off to landing + doing shit on the moon, it was realistic, and then.... there was a mountain on the moon which I climbed and had an epic battle dual wielding katanas against some ninja
Can't be worse than my record so far. And I keep my DJ on my computer, so I don't even write them right away half the time.
I don't suggest that, personally. Writing journals are valuable because you can sketch stuff you remember. sometimes you can't make it into words. But if that works for you, great. I type mine up too, but I keep the typed ones as backup for particularly important dreams. Most of mine I don't type. [editline]30th November 2011[/editline]
I can't remember my dreams for shit now that I started trying. What should I do?
stop trying. It'll come to you naturally. You can't actively try to remember (unless with MILD), you have to passively remind yourself. You DO remember them, you just forget. The longer you try, the better it'll be. [editline]30th November 2011[/editline] One of these days I need to sort through my old dream journals, I have boxes full of them. :v: I doubt you guys would want to see them, but if you want to I can take a picture or something. Either way, they need to go.
Personally, I'd love to read some of your older dreams. Also, the KKK is going to take over the world. My dreams said so.
Personally, I'd love to read some of your older dreams. Also, the KKK is going to take over the world. My dreams said so.
Unfortunately, I don't have any journals earlier than last October. I kept them all in a big cardboard box in my garage and my garage flooded last year. All I have now is stuff I had kept in my room, which I'd only done because I hadn't filled the box yet.
Had my first lucid dream three weeks ago after reading the other thread. It was pretty cool. After an awful nightmare of which I had distinct memory, I was standing on an asphalt road, trees lined the area and formed a border about it. Everything was sepia tone, and this time, I instantly recognized this as peculiar. Realizing I was dreaming, I looked down at my hands and found out the RC I was using doesn't work. My hands had five fingers, nails chewed down to the quick and lines and fingerprints. I was just so amazed by this I woke up. Later that week, I had a false awakening after a nightmare, and I remembered to look at the night sky. I felt so disappointed. It was simply the moon occupying half of the sky. As I concentrated on it, the entire sky flashed and became entirely black. This being something that spooked me but I couldn't punch in the face, I woke up. Anyway, is there a reality check I can do while dreaming about a third person strategy game?
I asked my sub what their name is. It's Wally :v:
Does anyone know anything about using melatonin tablets to experience more vivid dreams?
Hey guys, does anyone mind interpreting this dream I had? For the record, it was a lucid dream, as I recall most of what happened and had full body control of my dream self. I was at my school, the lights were almost all off and I had an intense fear of something (I didn't know how the dream started, so I didn't know why I was scared. I repeatedly saw objects and people that I wanted in different areas, with the light in the hallway being brighter on top of the object or person, sort of like a spotlight. All the people and objects were people dear to me, like friends, family, material objects I cared for or desired. Whenever I ran towards it, a mysterious black figure would appear, while black smoke practically came of his body like a smoke machine at a concert, and would appear behind the object/person, touch the object/person, and both him and the object/person would fade into black smoke. As soon as they'd vanish, the light would shatter as though some electrical malfunction happened. This kept happening until the school was pitch black, and conveniently a flashlight appeared on the ground where I could barely see. As I turned it on, all the people the Smoky-Shadow figure had "kidnapped", so to speak, were facing me with the same black silhouette figure with smoke coming off them. This practically gave me a heart-attack in the dream, and I finally awoke as they started to walk towards me like a traditional mob of zombies from a 1950' movie. When I woke up, without any thought of doing this, my hand clenched my chest as I took a loud gasp of air.
A long time ago I had this dream: It starts in some kind of pub when I'm in the middle of a conversation with this guy. He goes on speaking but I instantly figure out that I'm in a dream. So I look at him in a strage way and he stops talking and says "hey are you okay?". I reply "This is a dream.". He suddenly makes a fake smile and says "no it's not", but i insist "Yes it is", "No no!" he says. I point at him and say "yes it is, come on!" , "no it's not!" the argument gest intense and after a few moments i woke up feeling happy because i was right.
I have a question. Is it a bad/good idea to view ones sub as a different person? As it seems many people here do that, but your sub is really just yourself.

It's difficult to explain this properly, because only people that have done it will really know what I mean, but the people that have done it don't need me to explain it. your sub is like a separate you. Like I think of mine as a separate entity, but it's still ME. The only real reason to think of it like this is kind of a mental reason. you're more likely to accept arguments and hold conversations with someone else than you are having them by yourself. It's your brain's way of making it easier to have a discourse with yourself, basically.

You: So, do anything interesting lately? Sub: Idk, maybe the exact same things you've been doing.

I actually have a couple people knocking around up here; all me, of course (to varying degrees anyways). It's pretty... interesting. It's actually a fairly good way of enabling work with deep psychological issues... when it works. Right now I've got an issue with one of them though... anyways, whatever, not dream-related so I'll just stop here. ...though... I wish it was dream-related. It'd be nice to meet some of these guys face-to-face at some point. A little bit into my day, I realized I had a lucid dream last night. It was strange, different from regular lucid dreams. Instead of going, "cool, I'm dreaming, time to fuck some shit up" I thought to myself "oh shit this world is going to end pretty soon, gotta do something fast" and kissed a random girl before the dream collapsed. I think something that isn't addressed in the OP or most of this thread is the fact that you can still think and hear your internal monologue (well, not so mono for those who talk to their subs/themselves) and everything you can do while waking. I actually remember lots about my dreams from remarks I make to myself in my head. (Probably helps that I have phonographic memory)
As an experienced dreamer, ive noticed a few things that might help new dreamers. Ive used MILDs to achieve 99% of my LDs. When you're falling into a mild, the thought of sleep paralysis(when your limbs become heavy and hard to move) can be a bit offsetting at first. This is where a lot of people fail. Your body wants to move but your mind doesn't, causing conflict. However, once you pass that and get into a dream, lots of things change. Your environment, your senses, your appearance, right down to your limbs. Hell, I dreamt I had squid arms once. But here's the big thing people don't often understand: you can do anything. The universe is your toy, at your command of will. If you meet your sub, that's already a massive step in the right direction. Don't be afraid to ask your sub about things you don't get! Your sub is your mind, in a way. Ask it for help if you can't do something, ask it for guidance if you're confused. To me, the sub is the ultimate tool for a dreamer. An encyclopedia to reference for anything you can think of. Have faith that you'll ld. You need strong will to dream. You need a strong heart to keep it going. If you believe you can do something, you will. That's all.
I can finally become a dolphin in the shape of dolph lundgren
100% of my lucids have been DILDs DILDing all night, erry night

[editline]1st December 2011[/editline]
100% of my lucids have been DILDs DILDing all night, erry night
I honestly don't think I've ever gotten a lucid from MILD, DILD, WILD (came close), or any of the other _ILD's. Most, if not all of them have come by realizing it while in a dream. Not RC's either, in fact, I've tried RC's in dreams when I'm already lucid, and they didn't work too well.
i was gonna go to sleep at like 9 tonight its 1:15
