Give an example of a situation where jpg is superior.
In situations where card space is limited or you need to deliver a set of images quickly. Perhaps you should bring more cards with storage, or try to get more time to process, but that's ideally and not always realistic.
For instance this week I had to do architecture photos for a real estate website, and I did HDR merging in camera because I had to deliver 60+ photos in under a few hours. By using autoHDR merging I managed to bypass bracketing and combining over 60 photos and deliver them in a very fast time frame. Since the images were for web only and will not be looked at full size, the mild loss in sharpening or detail were negligible, and in turn my fast delivery was a huge selling point over other photographers they use.
My creativity is hurting. Last year I did Photography and Moving image projects mainly, but this year I'm doing New Media and Animation in uni. The former of which I'm making something similar to Dear Esther but very personal and site specific with CryEngine 3 and its a laborious process. I miss using my good cameras working around a theme, my Hasselblad and FM2 gather dust as I just use my phone and kodak disposable occasionally. Can you guys recommend a photo theme/project I could work on in my own time?
Gosh its been ages since I've last posted here!

We need another one of these, and make a collab of all our work on Facepunch. Can someone make a thread with a decent OP. I'd love to contribute.

There is an anagram on the card for U MAD.
My cameras have been sitting on my desk collecting dust for months. I miss it. I just feel extremely discouraged, and I still haven't had the money to develop the ~15ish rolls of film also collecting dust. I miss participating here.
Diagram dump, may be helpful to show newbies to hep them learn.

Basically sums up art school.
Speaking of art school....
Should I apply to Columbia College Chicago, SCAD and MIAD?
Do you guys think the expenses or art school are worth it? Because It seems like UW Oshkosh has a really nice R/TV/F program that they try and get you out into the real world and get a job before you graduate.
Also, I thought most of these places required a portfolio or something but I haven't seen a place to submit one or anything?
Lots of college stuff on my mind right now and I'd love some advice!
Tuition for the 2011-2012 academic year is $37,684, plus fees and living expenses
Damn.
Do you know much about the Film/Video program there?
It's ace, met some real cool chaps in that program.
they're always bragging about interesting stuff going on in the program. working professionals/celebs teaching etc.
James franco is teaching a class this semester actually. saw him outside his classroom
I just don't think I could spend 37k+ a year for it though. I doubt I'd get much through financial aid and grants/scholarships
Well it's worth applying to see what you can get, I know people who have gotten scholarships after applying somewhere. Cal arts is a great school.

is that how much uni costs in america? fuck me that's ridiculous.
australian uni most subsidised ~= $4k/yr and least subsidised ~= $10k/yr (at a state owned uni), most majors fall somewhere in between.
How the fuck do you pay off $37k/year with an art degree.
Which is why I can't justify going there unless I bring the cost down to something like $12,000 a year.
better off going to the UK, it's like £8/9k now, used to be a lot less.
and i'm from Wales so they subsidies the payment so i'm paying 3 or 4k, can't remember.
Here in the Netherlands it's 1771 euro per year.

Well you are smack dab in Hollywood so if you were to get a job anywhere with an art degree that's where you would want to be. Cal arts is super reputable and produces a lot of famous careers. Dexter's lab was created by a graduate from there.
But yes it is expensive, though I'm sure with an art degree from cal arts you could find a job better than am art degree from a random in state school. For that reason I truly feel sorry for the people who pay to get a photography degree at my school.

you get debt up to your eyeballs is how
tuition is ludicrously expensive here in the US
