Been given a brief by Leeds College of Arts telling me to produce 4 Images and a 500 word essay based around the word 'Identity' and it's meaning. If I do well then I'll get put in for an interview to get a place on their Photography Degree course, so stoked.
That literally sounds like it would be so much fun
That's the idea really. It's nothing serious - just a bit of fun. A friend who owns the space suggested putting some photos up, so my brother and I are holding an impromptu exhibition. Mainly for family and friends, but it should be nice. Also, I've never really every printed any of my photographs, so it's all a learning experience. [editline]12th December 2012[/editline]
He's in Sydney right now!
This be true. I'm in Australia until late April I think. [editline]12th December 2012[/editline] Also, what do you guys think of the invite? Took my brother, cousin and I a while to figure out what photo to use and the placement of the text. Layout, Font? Etc.
i think it looks very nice. you did a good job on it, it's great looking. good luck on it and let us know how it goes! and if you have prints left over let me know i want a quast original!
The image is great and the work placement is spot on but the font is lacking; it definitely needs a simplistic font but sticking with the standard Ariel looks a bit 'minimal-effort'. Keep the simple font, but use a different one to Ariel and it will look sweeet
It looks a bit like some tablet homescreens with the clock and weather and date.

I made a variable ND filter for ~£5! works very well, you can easily fix any colour casts it makes by twisting the back filter and change how many stops it does by twisting the front filter this is the I used http://vimeo.com/15313082
That is awesome! Test shots please! Also, where did you get such cheap polarisers?
just bought them off ebay can't take test shots right now because

I lost it and I don't really care. Now that I have a 16-50 though I might order a 72mm one just for daytime video use n stuff.
fucking hell been really sleep deprived and on edge lately because of exams, and been really awful at falling asleep in the middle of the day and getting up at awful late times at the result this morning takes the cake though - just woke up, it's dark, starting to panic and think that i'd actually slept through my alarm all the way into the evening and missed my 9:30am exam; look at my phone, nope, time is 5:57am thanks brain, i guess, that's nice and all, but i really wanted to sleep more than that god damn it whine over
I hate this getting dark early bullshit as well. My sleep schedule sometimes has me waking up on my days off around 4-5:00 so I miss pretty much the entirety of daylight. And I live in a basement with no window so it makes it just THAT much easier to sleep in.
The king of photography, Henri Cartier Bresson, only really used his 50mm.
The king of photography (me) thinks different lenses are good for different situations :P But really it's good to try different things, 50mm's are nice but not perfect. 35mm is a better compromise methinks, can be adapted to more situations. It's just good to force yourself to try new lenses, it's easy for me since I have lots of lenses to adapt, but it quite forces you to try new stuff. Like I did self portraits with my 12mm lens, this was very different for me because its not a very sharp lens, and composition changes dramatically. Mastery of focal lengths helps you grow as a photographer, the 50mm is not the only lens there is. Try wider and longer in your typical situations, and see how it affects your shooting.
