I would take a good long think about what I'm trying to achieve starting up a Cargo. Do you think these photos are good enough to represent yourself forever? Could you sell these photos to someone for private/commercial use?
That's what's stopping me at the moment.
I signed up maybe a year ago? And still haven't worked on creating something until I think of a way to use my images more coherently.
Could be that, or maybe just my laziness, but I suspect it's a bit of both.
i'm sending it to prospective universities instead of a DVD
I created mine to be used as half of my portfolio for university interviews, im going for a web based one along side a paper folder.
I really don't believe we should have been giving everyone who asks for it an invite to the website, I'm just thinking of this:
"To maintain the highest possible degree of quality, Cargo memberships are restricted by an Invite Only policy that is mediated by account holders, each of whom can invite 5 new members."

I believe as just giving out invites to anyone who asks without prior knowledge of their capabilities creatively is the polar opposite of what they are trying to achieve with this website. I'm not trying to be a snobby twat but I just think that when giving out invites we should be/have reserved them for those we feel need them (ie like me who needed a web based portfolio fast) or those who we know show exceptional talent; and not just given them out willy nilly to get friendly ratings.
Bopie is rolling in his grave with all these invites being thrown out willynilly.
when did he die?
presumably threw himself into a volcano
[sp]it'll be forever before that's cool[/sp]
i didn't ask how
"before"
So this is interesting

there were six ads planted through that article and I'm still not sure if I trust any of the science behind that thing since the guy seemed to just be fangirling about how it gives you wider coverage and wider apertures
like, I'm REALLY skeptical of "making your images sharper". The wider apertures is a bit more believable in a sense that you can get a shallower DOF, but I can do that with a $10 screw-on macro adapter. All I'm really getting from this is that this is the same thing, but behind the lens instead of in front
that thing seems pretty interesting

i like it
would certainly use it if i had a sony camcorder
the increased sharpness vs the same lens without this makes sense; the adaptor basically just shrinks the image
It's based on the idea of a teleconverter, but doing the opposite. Kind of like a magnifying glass behind the lens. This idea has been proven to work before by Olympus with their 14-35 and 35-100 4/3rds lenses, which were regular 28-70 and 70-200 lenses with a wide converter built into each design.
So I do believe this product has heavy implications, though testing with more lenses and more conditions should show how effective it is

okay, so i'm used to editing videos in final cut pro, but now that i'm on my own computer, which isn't a mac, i'm a little confused as to what program would be easiest for me to get started with. any thoughts?
I wonder where/if you can buy Jessops stock, which I presume will get liquidated into cold, hard and liquid cash

premiere pro is pretty similar
but when you're ready to learn a real editing tool, avid mc is waiting

do you know anything about adobe 'speedgrade'? Seems to add a lot of production value to CS's video workflow.

it's basically lightroom for video, ideally to take care of initial color correction or post-edit toning and such, which at first glance seems to be the bit of Avid MC that Premiere falls behind on

found this picture of my grandpa with the Canon AE-1p I use today. he died three months after he bought it, and he bought it the year it was released. very odd feeling for me when i see this photo.
looks tasty, I've been using rgb curves in premiere pro
gave me a good chuckle tbh

I've been meaning to learn up on how to use this. I opened it once and didn't like the layout and didn't understand quite how it worked. The timeline is confusing... I can't remove any clips from it.

thanks, i'll check it out.
So my flash tubes arrived today. Much bigger and meaner looking than I expected, which is fine by me because disposable camera flash tubes aren't the best anyway.

I grabbed out one of the flash circuits from one of the many (several dozen) disposable cameras I have in a bag on the floor and rigged up this little configuration just to see if it would work at all.

I was surprised that it actually fired and now I'm eager to make a higher voltage circuit and begin working on my own custom flash.

I think ideally you should be tweaking clips one at a time to save out a copy and work in premiere to string them together proper. watch the video linked in the big header image of the speedgrade page
Cargo invite please?
