I'm called a hipster all the time by my friends. But it's not really a big deal. My friends mainly call me a hipster for riding bikes and using messenger bags and being interested in photography.
the fuck
Is your bike bright lime green, your messenger bag made of hemp and tie dyed and your camera a shitty polaroid?
Else I might begin to think your friends have no idea what a hipster is :v:
What's "tour-style" and bopie?
Also y u people no comment on the stuff I posted on the Creative Photography thread
At least tell me they're horrible so I can fulfill my inner attention whore's needs.
What's "tour-style" and bopie?
the answer to both lies here

(steve is bopie and he's cool)
Both remain unanswered.

I ride a fixed gear bike that's black and white. And I use a Chrome messenger bag. So I can see why they call me a hipster.
Plus I use my AE-1 program at school every now and then
I googled hipster to find a good picture to follow that up and had a heart attack, the first result was actually me

but then I realized it pulled up google plus results for no reason
then I was offended it labeled me a hipster anyways
What's bopie?
i love it when someone posts this
[editline]15th February 2012[/editline]
is it bad i use the term "bopie" in general conversation
How do you pronounce bopie?
I say
Bo, as in Bow-and-Arrow, Elbow
Pee, as in oh god I gotta tinkle
I recently read an article about something called Pinterest, and how it's apparently helpful for gaining an audience and lots of exposure as a photographer. I haven't dug into it but it SEEMS like it's a different approach to how tumblr does stuff with reblogging. Unfortunately, zero professional community, which is kinda what we're looking for.
I think the closest thing we'll really get to what we're looking for is smaller, more openly honest communities like our little clique here. The only way to really rid an art community of popularity whoring via comments/groups/shinytrophypictures is to bring it down to this, which probably won't happen; We are built on discussion, not correlations to favorites, followers and viewcounts.
Pinterest is a pretty huge phenomenon, but there's one problem: It's mainly women. I haven't seen a single man on Pinterest. To be honest, it's not a very manly platform, and your photos will probably get stolen and made into one of those stupid "bucket list" pictures or something with a cute quote on it.
Wait does bopie not actually exist? It's just like a joke to see who's in or not?
Or am I being daft?
bopie is just a guys name on the forum, calling something 'bopie' is like facepunch slang for his style
i used to say
bop- as in stop
and then -ie as in tree. But in a british accent...

i just scored a place as the title track to an internet compilation of indie artists
super stoked for the dozens of plays i'm going to get
So I figured I really shouldn't post past 2 AM since I rake in boxes

That was part of why the article suggested it. Women are great collectors of information, whilst men are more out for gratification, pulling into the flickr scratch my back I scratch yours trending.
Plus apparently sources on images remain intact even if they place junk in their little collections or whatever.
if you guys haven't played dear esther i suggest playing it, it's really fun to take screenshots in it
bopie, your choice of music has always puzzled me.
Small camera story here. I haven't had this experience but kids in past classes have. My school had a security guard who didn't like having himself filmed/taken pictures of, so his "no thank you" was to lick his finger and run it down the lens. Nobody in the tv-production class uses polaroized lenses so it was actually damaging. My teacher had to confront him and say
"You don't make near enough money to replace what damage you're doing."
He moved onto another job later on in the year.
how did that ruin it? i spit clean most of my lenses
they weren't polarized, duh.
[editline]15th February 2012[/editline]
jokes aside the guard sounds like a prick
polarized or not that guard is an asshole
He was probably just insecure about having such a poo poo job so he felt like when kids took photos or film of him they were making fun of him.
To clear up, when I meant by polarized is that the lens offers protection to the more valuable part it's shielding.
As to damage, I don't know actually. My teacher told the story.
P.S. How does polarising protect the lens?
