oh by the way, i got a dual core 2.3GHz PowerMac G5 with 1.5GB of RAM today.
For £10.
Question for my fellow videographers. What do you guys recommend for recording audio? I'm making a short film and was wondering what wold be best? Shotgun mic or a boom mic or anything else? Also, I need a lens. I was leaning towards the canon 50mm 1.4 but with a cropped sensor, I may want like a sigma 35mm. (I know I've brought that up several times now, but I'm still not 100%)
Go for the 35.
So as of right now to save money I'm scanning the prints I make, and copying those into digital form. What settings should I set the scanner for? Currently it's set for 1200 dpi, as a jpeg.
Generally you want it set to a multiple of the scanner's native resolution. I scan as .tiff

Deez florida greens. He's hunting for geckos. Prolly gunna keep dropping off these movie stills from my WIP-vacation-montage in this thread, daily.
This is a movie now??? Please include your voice in there somewhere, wanna hear what you sound like.
I bet he's like audio chocolate.
My mother told me last night that one of the photos in our house was taken with a panographic camera. It should still be in the house, and while searching for it I found a Hanimex Praktica novaI. The shutter button is in an interesting place, and the case smells like a dentists office. Still works, and it already had 8 pictures on the roll of film. Not posting in gear because I probably won't use it.

Ah, I love the smell of freshly printed boarding passes. Tomorrow I leave for my week long trip across Italy, Austria and Germany. I'll be visiting Milan, Vicenza, Venice, Verona, Salzburg, Garmisch, and Munich. Expect a ton of photos once I get back.

Hey guys, here's the a little landing page for the photo community idea that I've been slowly working on for the last few months, it'd be great if you could leave your email address so that when I'm ready to launch you can find out straight away :) http://www.photokarma.cc/

Done. Goodluck with this!
I was hoping one of you could point me in the direction of a site where I could get decent quality free sounds. Specifically I'm looking for the sound of horse footsteps on concrete. I didn't get to record any of my own and my deadline is soon. One of these things that just slipped by.

for sounds I acquired a copy of the "Sony Pictures Sound Effects Library" and that has served me well.

What I really need is someone that can help me design a logo, I have an aesthetic in mind (cheers bopie) but I have no graphic design skill.

sure, I'm talking to Dai at the moment about him doing it, but you're more than welcome to have a crack (if it's awesome I'll use it no worries, just no guarantees).
I'm currently thinking of an isometric view of some 70s/80s camera, with nice sharp lines. the color palette is black, white and #EEF3FD and anything in-between.

I can guarantee if you use Dai then his will be 100000x better than mine but hey-ho i'll give it a bash :)
Someone painted their Rebel white really shittily on r/photography and it's a really awful job and he's getting praise for it and it rustles the shit outta my jimmies.
Anyone have some tips or reads on framing/composing? That seems to be my weak point at the moment. (Well, uh, weakest.)
Also, what do you guys use for editing? I've been using the bundled "View NX" for like, cropping and straightening, but might as well learn some basic photo editing.

Ughh, so much rage when I saw that. I honestly don't understand why anyone would want to do that. Camera's are black for a reason, enjoy not being able to shoot reflective objects and looking like you're carrying around a knockoff Pentax.

I'm repainting my own SLR and guess what colour I'm doing it, Black of course, But its a rather plain camera so I'm changing the leatherette on it, but what idiot would paint a DSLR at all.
Also can I have a link to that.
I don't mind reddit, but r/photography is mainly a bunch of nerds looking for the coolest/most interesting at face-value stuff rather than anything actually artistic.
Call me a snob, but I can't stand that kinda stuff.
oh bopie you snob
[editline]3rd April 2012[/editline]
jk
Elaborate bopie, i've never been to r/photography, do you mean like they don't appreciate the technically artistic things like camera obscura, brenizer or old film processing techniques etc?
