In regards to taking pictures of smoke and muzzle flash, I'll obviously want a high shutter speed. Any advice on A.) where I should have the sun in relation to me B.) taking pictures of a large group of people? The book I checked out from my library is great, but doesn't cover everything I'd like. ((Hey Guest, register. I'm new and this guys are friendly as long as you put effort/really want to improve. Also photography section could also use new members.)
you want to take a photo of a muzzle flash and a group of people in the same scene? please don't tell me you're gonna do what I think you're gonna do haha
Somone talk camera bags with me. I need one. What's top of the line? Whats mid? etc? Went to best buy (not the best place for these things but I have $40 to spend there) and actually really liked this canon bag.
I use a normal messenger bag(I can't stand backpacks) with a rainproof flap that covers all of it and nice thick foam padding for a laptop or something. Doesn't stand out, holds my one camera and one lens. The problem with camera bags is that they look like camera bags, and if they do they're like a prime target for muggers and such. That Canon bag looks real nice, though. Any pictures of the interior?
I feel like I'm about to be dropped out of my current army course due to having bad interactions with the rest of the students...goddamnit.

Plus, not many people around here can tell what a camera bag looks like let alone able to rip it off my shoulders.

With five people I could figure it out, but any more and it feels strange trying to find a moment to take the picture.
Yesterday I went into the woods with my bicycle. Was there for 2 hours and just took something like 4 pictures. I bet they don't even turn out well ): I get way to picky when using the film camera.
I just realized that I have credit for 7 rolls worth of developing through snapfish, that expires on the 31st of May. Finally have an excuse not to be picky with my shots!
just introduced my friend to film, whom i bought the om10 for. he just keeps shooting the film, on and on. he's using it as a normal camera, not for specifically arty shots meaning he gets through a roll a week, whilst i get through 1 a month.

If not more. I'm addicted to clicking that shutter. I often frame a scene, decide it won't make a good photo, but press that button anyway. [editline]30th April 2012[/editline] And for 1 pound at poundland, I don't see it as a problem. Only thing is having a little more restraint when I've got a better quality film inside.
guys, guys, i'm so fucking happy right now I've pulled out of my feeling shit about myself spiral (looking for problems in myself, feeling shit about myself because of that, affecting my relationships and shit) through photography and some self analysis, that last portrait is what really did it, since that i've been able to see myself not as flawed but as unique, my face not the identity but the symbol of the identity, so now I can stop feeling shit and just be the person I want that symbol to identify. On top of that, my largest inspiration that helped me follow through with that passion for photography loves the photos i've done and offered me the opportunity to actually do a photo for the cover of his next album he's not that famous or anything, indie artist with a really small crowd, but it's still a good fucking feeling, makes me feel worthwhile at last. in case you guys actually care, this is the guy i'm talking about

Very... human. I don't know what you did, but it brings out the skin imperfections and such. Very different from anything I've seen in magazines.
I want to capture the sunrise from the beach where I live over the island directly to the east. But I am far too lazy to get up that early. :v:
do it, hate yourself getting out of bed, thank yourself later
Already past midnight, would give me 4 hours sleep. Fuck it ill do it the day after tomorrow.

Develop yourself? I dunno the cost of the chemicals but I'd imagine it's way less expensive if you're developing a lot of film.
it's just the cost of developing that gets me [editline]30th April 2012[/editline] all nighter
My local camera store does colour processing only for £2. Which I think is pretty reasonable.
Christ my Sigma 30mm is indestructible. Dropped onto concrete yesterday when I mounted my motorbike, and it also fell out my bag at a rave, both due to a dodgy zip on my camera bag. Also I got arrested again, woops.
Also I got arrested again, woops.
Please expand.
Please expand.
Girlfriend convinced me to break into a derelict house with her, got caught. Also had two joints on me. [editline]30th April 2012[/editline] I also think I set a speed camera off on the way home after being bailed, cause I had to drive home in the torrential rain SW uk had on Saturday. The rain also broke my new phone, it refuses to charge of normal chargers now. Popped a rib in the gym too which doctors can do nothing about, and I have final exams coming up. Not been a good week for me...
My local camera store does colour processing only for £2. Which I think is pretty reasonable.
Oh well... I have to pay 27 CHF to get a color roll developed. Also prints are not included, just a cd with the images.
wow b-haz, sorry about your week that's awful :/ so i have to take my own prom pictures this weekend apparently, should I go with a 50mm or 35mm lens? the 50 has better bokeh but the 35 will be better working distance, since i have to use my IR remote for the pictures theme is 20's though, so i'm doing them all b/w :)
I'm talking with a friend (Mgear) as we both recently got cameras (digital), we have different opinions on film cameras, I feel as though film feels more authentic, looks more "real", he feels the opposite and film cameras have bad quality and such. I can't put my finger on it, is there a way I can bring my photos to life that film seems to do almost naturally? I think I'm probably going to have to get a film camera.

Though film sometimes will do things you don't expect that brings a lot to a photo, that it feels to me like cheating to edit it in.
You're right it would feel fake, just like those who use instagram, comes off as cheesy, I might lightly add sepia and a tiny bit of a grain, any advice?
