all I get is "Your photos Hide your photos from site-wide searches on flickr.com? Hide your photos from searches on 3rd party sites that use the API, including Yahoo! Image Search? " then save

yeah, that's what I get, both are unchecked and I press save but I still get this "Hide your profile from public searches Yes " on my account page, and I can't change it
PUI = Photograph under the influence? I still havn't really had a chance to do that, I imagine i'd see things in much more interesting ways if I did though
Most of my recent photos are that oops.
So, guys, doing party photography for the first time ever on saturday and I'm kind of "scared". Has anybody got some tips for me? I will be using my 550D with my 580EX-II Speedlight + my 18-55mm and maybe my 50mm.
stick to the 18-55mm, shove it in aperture priority and everything should be fine :)
Most of my recent photos are that oops.
recent? I don't recall you ever being sober :v:
Doesn't deserve to be in creative thread but, it's a nice picture aside from the photobomber. (my friend in the pic, not me) Can you guess who it is?
No but seriously that's awesome!

A girl on my facebook has an entire "photography" page dedicated to taking party photos, and they all suck, people still love them, because party photos hold a lot of memories in them even if they're shit photos. I'd suggest taking just one lens, no point taking your 50mm if you've got the 18-55, take a lightweight bag that has easy access when you need it (you don't want to have to spend an entire minute getting out your equipment) and basically just be ready for photo opportunities. Most people will line themselves up for group photos at a whim, but if you want live shots you're gonna have to be quick on the mark, don't stand there for 3 minutes trying to get the perfect shot while everyone's having a good time else you'll look a bit out of place and awkward. Also, don't get super drunk, a bit isn't gonna be an issue but if you get smashed you never know what could happen to your camera
Recommending the 18-55 aswell, I'd imagine shooting parties is to show the enviroment while the object stands in the middle so I'd say no close-ups.
I might go to Vancouver for four weeks next january to study English abroad Would be a fucking awesome thing to do
latin geek where do you live?
Last night, (which I have been waiting to do since I got it) my best friend and I took the Hero2GoPro in the pool. I didnt know her pool was heated, but I wasnt that worried because, the camera claims that it prevents most fog from distorting the pictures/video when underwater with the housing. Nevertheless, here are a few pictures that came out very interesting.. I have a lot of videos, but I was going to make a really lame video montage with generic hipster music dubstep sounds for her and I to laugh at later. I might use it later on today before work in the sunlight. I still think they look nice. :3
latin geek where do you live?
Argentina. Santa Fe, to be more precise. [editline]11th May 2012[/editline] My old photography teacher invited me to this street/grafitti photography thing he and some other students from my old course are doing for a magazine Should be fun, I might even get a picture published.
PUI: NO REGRETS you guys are the best, no joke or lies here. you guys give awesome feedback and are some of the most chilled out and most awesome guys i know. you all have you're own individual styles (though ill admit, ive made a pastiche of bopie before multiple times, love your work man; true inspiration there) and are all accomplished in your certain specialities and i love you all. dont give a fuck about alcohol/blood levels you guys rock <3
PUI, but classy trashed, so I can't get banned. Pick and Bopie you're like the best photogs around these parts, HA4ZY too (holy fuck your eye for composition). And I fucking love the tolerating and helping attitude of every poster, everyone here is relaxed and never gets mad about bad art. It means the newbies don't get scared away and eventually become great photogs. I used to be shit but wouldn't have stuck with it if it wasn't for FP. [editline]12th May 2012[/editline] I also just got accepted into Mechatronic Engineering in Edinburgh <3 <3

oh look, another one of those guys [editline]12th May 2012[/editline] alright I need to go out and take photos today, on my own for the first time in a while. I've grown accustom to taking photos with people in them and now I find it hard to take photos without people as subject matter... but I need to get something for this guy's album cover already
If he isn't picky, just go to a tree, aim up it with the camera resting on the bark.
nah, that's too bland even for my tastes. The sort of thing he wants is something "natury", but, in a context you wouldn't expect to see it (because of artificial development or barren landscape or something like that) with the idea being that, things will end up where they want too no matter what that's the theme of his album basically, but in relation to people. I think I can get something easily, it's just a matter of finding it
Unless I'm picking this up wrong, would something like an apartment complex, or shopping center next to a field full of grass work?
nope, what would maybe work is an overgrown building, or plants growing inside of something abandoned or something like that unless that shopping center was like 100% surrounded by fields, which we don't exactly have here.. but you did just give me an idea for a double exposure, that I doubt would really work but might give it a go. Havn't really tried double exposures yet so
Phone was stolen a few days ago. Was talking with some officers/School Detective and they have nothing and have said that ill probably not get it back. So i'm stuck with a slide phone for the next 6 months until I can get a new phone. Sucks that I have to deal with seeing the person everyday yet not know it's them.
I rub my phone on my penis, so if someone steals it jokes on them. Plus the sim lock helps too. [editline]12th May 2012[/editline] I've been thinking of saving up for some Tritium keychains ($30 each), this isn't a deciding factor, but I think they'd make for some interesting pictures too. [t]http://puu.sh/ufB5[/t] I like the orange one.
I kinda want to set a long exposure and jump rope with christmas lights and see what happens
That'd be pretty cool. I just noticed something on my camera, it has a very light knocking noise coming from it along with slight vibrations that you can feel. Is that the autofocus constantly adjusting the lens? I googled around, it can also be the image stabilization. No idea what it is.

If it's Pentax K-r or K-x it is probably the in body image stabilization. Don't worry it's nothing you should worry about
