So I go to my deviant art page and then I see this
Soo I was painting thinking "I need a northern sky thats..with trees and green and gorgeous.." but half of me wanted to paint the Third Eye photo Ive been dreaming of...anyways I decided to look up photos that could give me an idea of the northern lights~ when I saw your photo I looked and saw the eye of the phoenix or your little icon and thought "dude I need to say hi" :). sorry if it seems weird but I just wanted to say hello from the Sierra Nevadas and I love your work. Maybe we could be friends =D.
o_o
Lets say I was going to climb a crane or onto a rooftop in the middle of the night in Edinburgh. What lenses should I take? I have a 28mm,35mm,50mm,58mm,135mm, and a 28-70 zoom lens I also have a 2x tele-converter. So far I'm thinking the 28-70 with a teleconverter would be the best choice, because it would give me about a 60-140mm lens, which should be good for most things. Any thoughts on this?

Going to spain in a couple of weeks (this is where the initial interest in photography came as I wanted to capture moments with my friends plus where im going as some really nice rural areas) and so have managed to get a Samsung L600 (AKA L60) from the bay for £10.50 Ideally I would like to have gotten a DSLR or CRC(I think there called that) but then again I would have had to fit it in handluggage along with my clothes so I couldnt really go for anything big anyway. Anyway I have looked at some specs and it seems like a pretty nice camera so hopefully It will allow me to learn atleast the basics :D [editline]28th June 2012[/editline] BTW has anyone used Shotwell or Digikam as an alternative to lightroom? If so would you recommend any?
BTW has anyone used Shotwell or Digikam as an alternative to lightroom? If so would you recommend any?
DigiKam is great. I like to write notes in the description boxes and licensing, and also use tags to organize all my photos (filenames are just numbers), and then use the Flickr and Facebook plugins to up. So while I was trying to fall asleep last night I was thinking about crop factors. I've been thinking about getting a Pentax k-r and according to Snapsort there's some kits that come with an 18-55mm lens, but due to the camera's 1.5x crop factor that'd make it 27-82mm wouldn't it?
so I just figured out what bulb exposure is for, feel retarded for thinking 30s was the maximum exposure time on the dslr i'm using now
You're not going to get any nice pictures off a Samsung L600, sorry.
I dunno man, my current camera is a TL350/WB2000. I can get decent shots off it, unless you zoom in. Can you shoot in RAW, Richy? If so, do it. Edit: I googled 'Samsung L600' and it came up with 'Samsung TL220'. What.

[editline]28th June 2012[/editline]
Edit: I googled 'Samsung L600' and it came up with 'Samsung TL220'. This is the actual one I have bought
[t]http://i.imgur.com/36MDy.png[/t] I realize that I've been a bit of a dick recently, and I apologize, but Bopie has been extremely rude to pretty much everyone on this forum. Personally, I think there are much better photographers in this forum like QuickSnapz, Daijitsu, LatinGeek, Inzalonus, Moarfunz, Kabstrac, and many more.
[t]http://i.imgur.com/36MDy.png[/t]I realize that I've been a bit of a dick recently,
Get the fuck out. You don't have been a dick you are one. If you are fighting with someone don't post snippets from the conversations along with an "apology"... Anyone can just take a part from a heated conversation and make the other look bad and this is neither constructive nor good for the community. What you are trying to do is win some people over to help you fight for your opinion. Shit like this destroys communities. I might not have been here for a long time but I respect most of the people here, it doesn't matter on what skill level, as long as they try to help the community and don't act like deviantart kids who can't take criticism but prefer voting eachother up just for the sake of webfame masturbation. Even when someone is rude while giving criticism you don't know why, maybe the had a fucked up day or something like that, try to see what they had to say and replay to them that you felt it was unnecessary rude. Mature up and don't get so easily offended on the internet.
ART HARDER NEXT TIME. You're a bad example to the many of us who art hard.
Stop bickering and get back to making art with light.
I agree, Jookia, but just for the record.
I agree with bopie's commentary from the snippet, even if it sounds snippy as a one-off. has officer brown even seen my photography? I haven't posted work here since before he even registered, by a long margin
So, I bought this on eBay, and it came into today. The camera is great, minus a little dust, the leather is damaged a little bit, and I have a little trouble getting the lens hood on. REGARDLESS, the camera is in great condition. The day was going nice, I was reading the manual, and I decided to check out the battery compartment. There-was-no-battery, and I flipped shit. I sent the guy an email who sent me this, and he forgot to put the battery back in before he shipped it to me. It's real nice that he's sending me the battery and all, but damn, I have to wait another week before I can use this camera. However, it's not as bad as when I ordered my Zenit TTL from the Ukraine, and the damn thing came in without a functioning shutter, and the mirror was jacked around a little bit.

I personally feel like the photography section could merge with creationism corner. It seems very slow and quiet in these parts, and though us photographers can comment on the technical aspect, it would be nice to get input from people who paint on things like composition, etc. 'cause it seems that when I make a thread in this section, about 20 people read it and I get little CC, as [somewhat] witnessed on my latest thread. But when I post a painting in CC I get tons of CC. So that's my opinion.
photo was part of CC originally, but it gets crowded quick. Photo threads went entirely unnoticed aside from the main photo general thread, which was more discussion than photos. The majority of the regular CC crowd will pay attention to painting, yes, but that section always has been (and is now reinforced towards) drawn/created medias.
Alright, fair enough. Though the DIY-section could be merged with CC IMO since the stuff in there can be cool, but that subforum is effectively dead. [editline]29th June 2012[/editline] It's not like stuff like the cedar canoe would go unnoticed either.
what kind of battery is it? And you are correct, the batteries for a Yashica are all discontinued, do to the fact that they all contained mercury within the cell. I'm not entirely too sure if he's sending in an adapter with a battery, or an oldschool battery, but I did find a link to buy an adapter. http://www.yashica-guy.com/document/battery.html

http://www.yashica-guy.com/document/battery.html
Yea when I said you should jump on the Electro I completely forgot about the whole discontinued battery issue. When I got mine the whole battery compartment and cap were missing, I had to jury rig a new one using that adapter. One of my two projects for the summer is properly making a new holder for the battery... When you buy replacements though, don't buy alkaline batteries. Buy the silver oxide ones, I made the mistake of buying an alkaline 6V and the battery was dead before I could finish a roll (about 2 weeks of life).
