I'm hearing most towns in my area are cancelling fireworks due to the heatwave/drought, so I'm not sure I'll be able to shoot again tonight. Here's hoping though
Our town was lucky that the fireworks weren't canceled. Took pics there, ill try and get the photos tommorrow.
hah found a photo on my flickr

I have a doctor's appointment later this day. I've always had a lot of birthmarks and I'm starting to think that some of them could be bad. I'm nervous as fuck because in my mind I start to come up with all of these scenarios and shit that it could be something really bad
Hey kids, I've been asked by a friends sister to do her headshots because she's a budding actress and heading to London in september to start her career and I was wondering if you guys had any pointers?:)

Good lighting and maybe look at some professional head shots to see how they did it pose and expression wise.

For front on head shots ask the model to place their head far forward from their body. It is undetectable in photos, removes any double chins/hanging chin fat and creates a more defined jawline.
I did for this shot and it worked out pretty well in my opinion since my jawline is pretty bad.

so far im thinking getting good communication going, cracking jokes and asking deep questions to evoke good emotions, opposite lighting to rid bad shadows, eye level camera and sticking head a little out, anything else i should consider?
it was pouring down the whole day yesterday, even with some thunder here and there, and yet despite that, and the fact that this isn't even the US, last night at around 1:30am someone set off one, lonely firework
Starting to get the hang of how to stitch photos. Need to improve on how to adjust everything else though.

why not the photoshop auto stitcher
I use hugin and it works beautifully
What settings are you using? Are you on Manual? Because it looks to me like your camera was doing the metering and exposed each shot slightly differently.
It was set on auto since this was a quickie. That's why everything's so fucked.
Anyone watch the new episode of Futurama of the other day? Photography centric plot and had quite a few funny jokes.
no, but that reminds me that the new episode is now up for download, so thanks!
I just love that there's new futurama, it might not be in the same style as the old episodes but it's still pretty damn funny, get a lot more laughs from it than new simpsons. But i'm still glad that both pump out new episodes, probably because I loved both of them as a kid so it's like my childhood side isn't dying off, or something

The whole episode just reminded me of this forum
Does anyone have an old single pin flash gun they don't use. Mine just died and I'm going to need it on my trip.
Anyone have any idea why the samsung mirrorless cameras are so cheap for what you get ($300 with kit lens, APS-C 15mp sensor, small body, AMOLED screen, nice amount of features) yet noone seems to own them/recommend them? Do they have a proprietary lens mount or something?
the mount that they use doesn't allow for easy adapted lenses. for instance, the M mount isn't accessible at all. that killed it with MF junkies, because the nex came out shortly after, and had the ability to mount more lenses, as well as focus peaking and tilt screen.
secondly the sensors in the cameras aren't that good. aside from the nx20, the cameras are not great performers. the jpg engine is abysmal, with raw processing being the only way to get good shots out of it.
lastly, terrible marketing. no one knows about these cameras, and once the nex came out people had found their APS-C mirrorless solution.
however the positives are the native lenses offered by the system. samsung is supporting it with some great designs, such as a 16mm 2.4, 30mm f2, and an 85mm f1.4. the cameras now are much better, but have unfortunately lost thunder due to the nex, and lack of manual support.
sorry for the very late reply, i don't think the question was answered.

Ugh my D90 is doing something weird. The camera is saving photographs in different folders on the memory card. What's worse is that ever since it started doing that, computer programs are having a hard time reading the memory card. Everything from Lightroom to Windows' default photo import is freezing and crashing when reading the memory card.
The only solution is to wait until the file explorer unfreezes and copy the pictures over manually; it's taking almost up to 90 minutes to do this. It's annoying as hell and I have no idea what's going on.
My facepunch is broken. Every time I try to rate someone it redirects me back to the home page.
Is it your D90 or the chip?
Can't tell, I've got no other SD card. Although, it's the camera making new folders on the memory card.
Oh my facepunch is changing again
So today my K-5 arrived. Interesting stuff, my only complaint is that since it has a sensor bigger than an SD card, I now have to work to get an entire scene in focus. D:
how is that a complaint
