Getting good feedback is much more important to me than views but more views and favourites make me feel good.
I feel good about views too, but that's because I don't advertise at all. If there's a spike of interest, I know somebody's actually talking about a piece and it's making the rounds all on its own
The only "advertising" I only do is Facepunch or asking some friends what they think of my shots. But that will only get me like 10 views max. I still don't know how my squirrel photo has 88 views. [editline]20th July 2012[/editline] Why are Leica range finders so expensive?
I think views are just a personal boost when work that you have done has been shown to lots of people, i mean i remember when two of my photos got put into the Upcoming/Popular sections of 500px and got about 700+ views each, on their own. It was awesome!
Why are Leica range finders so expensive?
because leica geez get with the times
Views actually mean fuck all to me, my photo-ego likes when it is stroked by favourites, comments and messages. I view hundreds of shitty photos and only favourite a handful and maybe comment on one every few days. I post my photos on Reddit and they get hundreds and even thousands of views, but I only count if someone comments letting me know they appreciated the photo or give it a favourite.
i dunno, favourites and comments are really nice, but i'll take views too, seeing as very few of my photos have anywhere near a hundred, which compared to everyone else's makes me sad [editline]20th July 2012[/editline] though i recently found that some of my photos got posted by random people on tumblr that's nice [editline]20th July 2012[/editline] i think
guys, i'm not really serious about 'exploiting' for views, i'm just trying to hate on reddit because I waste a shit load of time there and genuinely don't really feel involved. Sharing my photos there, regardless of whether or not they get popular, is just a nice way to get involved with it instead of just lurking for hours on end, kind of like how I post here for example I post the occasional pic that people have already shown interest in here, in r/pics and r/itookaphoto, but rarely get comments, which is why I prefer here, it feels more personal and insightful, especially if there's some critique However, going to sleep after posting a picture and waking up with like 15,000 views on it does give you a boost, regardless of if the views are because people actually like it or not, and even if it's just people lurking through links like I usually spend my time doing, I know there's gonna be at least a fair few in it that appreciate it and liked it
Also talking about reddit, I always meant to ask this: why does facepunch hate reddit so much? I registered there about a week ago or so and they seem like perfectly fine people. Not to mention one of it's members wrote one of the best beginner photography tutorials (imo)
i dunno, someone started a reddit hating fad a while ago and as usual a lot of people followed same with the whole anti-facebook thing where most people would go "i dont use facebook because i see my 5 friends in school every day, so you shouldn't use facebook either" when someone mentioned facebook [editline]20th July 2012[/editline] i think today i'm doing a thing of starting posts with "i dunno" [editline]20th July 2012[/editline] went into poundland today, they're no longer selling that kodak film; they are selling a different one though - AGFA vista 200, and 36exp instead of 24 looks alright in other people's photos so gonna try it out
The poundworlds/lands near me are still stocking it, gonna go clear them out tomorrow
£1 film is the best thing. Now they need poundland film developing.
Yeah, I'd noticed they weren't selling the Kodak film any more. Good to see they might have a replacement. I think they sell enough to warrant keeping some sort of 35mm in stock.
excuse me i'm mentally challenged and posted in the wrong thread
ASDA do development for £1? then 15p per any 6x4 print you want and £2 for a cd [editline]21st July 2012[/editline] much better than boots forcing you to develop for £4.49 and that includes all the shots developed onto 6x4 but if you don't want the prints it is still £4.49 and then an extra £4 to put it to CD.. and it takes 3 days where as ASDA is in under an hour
Is this true? ASDA developing for £1? If so, I need to get down to a store soon.
yeahh man! i rang them up a few days ago to find who was cheapest, off down later so i'll let you guys know the dealio with them
Where do you guys normally post your photos to reddit? Just r/pics or r/photography ? I wanna try. :v:
there's /r/itookapicture it's not really that great though
Where do you guys normally post your photos to reddit? Just r/pics or r/photography ? I wanna try. :v:
r/photocritique seems like a good place to get feedback
[editline]20th July 2012[/editline] Why are Leica range finders so expensive?
Because rangefinders are the most calculated pieces of camera machinery that exists
It's amazing how nice and civil people who come into this subforum are, even people who make threads as their first posts
Because rangefinders are the most calculated pieces of camera machinery that exists
What do you mean by most calculated?
What do you mean by most calculated?
I assume he meant complex or something along those lines
Because rangefinders are the most calculated pieces of camera machinery that exists
lol what
I've never really taken part in any other subforums, what are they like?
