my nikon 18-200mm lens wont AF anymore and has a rattling piece in it. Ideas? [editline]1st September 2012[/editline] :(
Is it the Nikon 18-200 version I or II? If it's the first version, then I've heard about this issue before. AF motor is broken and will need to be replaced. It's quite expensive to fix according to our repairs person who fixes those lenses at my work. To get it fixed you should count on 200 to 250 euros; it's a wild guess on costs though.

It just started to happen. Well know I know what my next pay check is going toward.
What's the worth of the lense when bought new?
Anyone know the word that's used to describe a longing to explore/travel? It's on the tip of my tongue.
Wanderlust.
Thankyou.
I got wanderlust right now. Got my tent, rucksack, sleeping bag, etc all ready to go. Haven't explored for like 4 months.

my wanderlust is starting to grow a lot, i've never left england/scotland so i really want to go somewhere. planning to go to new york city next summer with my girlfriend but i have a huge wishlist of places i will go to as soon as i can
Seeing you English people use our beautiful word is weird.
Oh man, I can't adequately express with words how good it feels to hit the road with your camera. One morning I planned a trip leaving at 5:30am (to catch the sunset) to a city two hours away that I'd never really explored before. Took four hours getting there (stopping to take pictures and explore along the way) and walked around for a while and the headed back home. That was a good day, good trip.
Seeing you English people use our beautiful word is weird.
But don't we use it in a different context? If I'm not mistaken, the (closest) accurate word for our use of 'wanderlust' is 'Fernweh'? Wanderlust in German is more 'loving to walk/hike', rather than lust for travel and exploration? Please correct me if I'm wrong, i'd be intrigued to know.
Just booked a train ticket to the middle of nowhere, then a bus further into the middle of nowhere, to then drop me off to hike further into nowhere, to go wild camping in the mountains.
"Travel, exploration and the outdoors seem to be having a renaissance. However, I’d speculate that it is primarily on the internet, a mostly aspirational and visual re awakening, and few people will actually ever make the effort to visit the places they bookmark. How long I wonder, before urban sprawl is the more glamorous option once again."
Just booked a train ticket to the middle of nowhere, then a bus further into the middle of nowhere, to then drop me off to hike further into nowhere, to go wild camping in the mountains.
Good on ya, Roll.
i would use all my money/time for travel and whatnot but i have school/work commitments and wants for tattoo's/gigs etc but after next year NYC will be the first of many many places i visit. The only thing is i hate feeling like a tourist :/

Wanderlust can be interpreted as the desire to wander around but it doesn't say far away. Fernweh usually means you want to go far away but not necessarily to wander or walk around.
I'm going to buy my first car tomorrow
I'm going to buy my first car tomorrow
I'll be buying my first actually bought-and-chosen-by-ME-car sometime soon, actually going to a dealership to look around today. I'm nearly 25 and I've been forced into getting hand-me-downs since I was 16, all of which were junk. Sold my last car ('98 camry) recently to a friend who's only car was a piece of crap from the 80's, just so he can work on going to school and getting a job, stepping up himself before this one dies. Right now I share my dad's van with him, which is pretty hard since we live a good few miles apart thank goodness we work at the same place
Just booked a train ticket to the middle of nowhere, then a bus further into the middle of nowhere, to then drop me off to hike further into nowhere, to go wild camping in the mountains.
Have a safe trip and come home safe!
How would someone go about selling photographic prints?
How would someone go about selling photographic prints?
Find a local gallery and apply there, or just shop your stuff out to friends if there's no gallery space in your town.
Have a safe trip and come home safe!
Thanks! Just leaving in 30 mins.
nice pic does anybody care about ken rockwell anymore I seem to remember people completely trashing the fact that he's strongly opinionated regarding things that don't need opinions
Those things you said about him are true, but there is insight to be had from him at times. I have learned nifty stuff from reading his blog before
Well I was looking at reviews of the Sigma 30mm f/1.4 and got confused, because reviews generally regard it favorably and Ken Rockwell kind of trashed it. Another case of strong opinion?

It's a good lens though I promise Also I got offered to do 2 paid shoots this week, ever since I did my friends senior pictures I've gotten contacted a lot I'm going to vomit
