Amendment 3: Don't try too hard.
Amendment 4: Ignore the "take" part of Amendment 1 if the thing is digital and you're going to share it with the world.

if you can't get in, roofs
When you're walking across a more than 2-floor building(especially a 1 floor if there's a basement) always have your flashlight pointed towards the floor. It might seem ridiculous; but it'll save you a long ass fall. I had one of my friends break his leg after falling into a hole in this room he was digging around in. Had a fun time calling me to come get him and call an ambulance(explaining this story was absolutely knockers..)
Be mature and pick your friends wisely who will be sensible.
Avoid the jerk who will shout, scream, trash the place and "Tag it up"
Only share information of places to people that take Urban exploration seriously.
Never openly share information unless you know the person is a proper urbexer and never publish dates that your planning to explore, you never know if the security guards might see.
Not exactly a rule but leather gloves. Enough grip to get around some heavily damaged areas that may require climbing to explore further and will keep your hands safe from what ever you could touch or cut yourself on.
Plus let alone possible homeless people that squat their and like to potty against walls and on the floor.
Have an escape route in case there is actually a cop on the way there?
