You're going to see a lot of seamen
All the people who make gay jokes are just ignorent. They actually put stuff in the food at basic to keep you from popping a chubby, in the eggs. The only people who can wax their carrot (god forbid if you get caught, oh god) are those who don't eat the eggs.

Theirs no chub killer in the eggs or the shots, no laxitives in the gum. You can pop a chub and bust a nut still, it's just usually you're too tired or too stressed out to. I knew plenty of guys who whacked off nightly in a room full of 80 men, god knows what they were thinkin...
I seem to recall it being around 300 - 500k per year depending on how long you've done it
That can't be right, O10 is about 200k a year, with benefits a generous estimate is about 250k, and that's after 30+ years service. So even if you are the Director of Navy Nuclear Propulsion, you wouldn't be getting that much. Unless you sell nuclear secrets to foreign countries :v:
I seem to recall it being around 300 - 500k per year depending on how long you've done it
yes man. you get half a million dollars per year for being an entry level tech. don't think so tim.
The Navy and Airforce have awesome uniforms.
Don't drop the soap.
Well, I signed up for the Navy on January 31st. Ive always been interested in it, and their technology. I signed up for the submarine electronics and computers field, and am wondering if anyone here on facepunch would have some stories of how the Navy is like to share. I ship out to the Great Lakes training facility on July 26th.
So when exactly did you discover you're a homosexual?
So true, I've got a lot more respect for the navy than the army (still not marines though!) Marines > Navy > Coast Guard > Airforce > Army You joined at a good time, they bumped up the training to 12-13 weeks now and you'll actually recieve some combat training. It used to be just 40 rounds from an m9 and 3 from a mossburg 500! it didn't matter what you scored either!
Daaaamn. You put Air Force pretty low on that. You gotta take into considering the ones who aren't finance/food service/deskjobs in the Air Force too. Maintainers get fucked up and down daily. But I get to fix A-10s or F-15s so it's worth it. Also I realized I missed your post lower down and that's understandable. A lot of the Air Force jobs are stupid deskjobs.. the flightline is a whole different world. It's funny when some jobs work 8 hour shifts with a 1 hour PT, and a 1 hour lunch included in the 8 hours.. They'll go to the chow hall and I will too after working 12 hours, covered in hydraulic fluid and grease and they say some shit cause my uniforms dirty. [editline]31st May 2011[/editline]
I'm sure you've heard of TACP, hardcore shit as far as I know, and i'm pretty sure the Marines have their own TACP, is the Marines TACP training harder then the Air Forces?
TACP, CCT, and PJs are pretty much the top badass jobs in the Air Force, and all require you to work with other services in the field. (Not off on your own where it's safe or some shit). EOD is a pretty bad ass job too. Some say Firefighters, but I lost faith in them after they were watching us start a new engine in a jet and the engine went KABOOM and started spraying flames out the back end.. we ended up putting it out and after everyone's calmed down a bit they get out of their truck and are like "Uh did you need us for that?..." A bit like this (that's fire/flames coming out.. not afterburner) but in a jet: View YouTUBE video http://youtube.com/watch?v=7afNaRQyOxs
Why is the Army regarded so lowly in the US? I'm Australian btw, so I have no idea about the US armed forces.
Why is the Army regarded so lowly in the US? I'm Australian btw, so I have no idea about the US armed forces.
I usually hear Coast Guard to be honest. As far as in the Air Force you commonly hear this (while taking a joke about us. Army aren't smart enough for the AF, not good enough for Marines. Marines will kill you with their finger, but probably dumb as a box of rocks. (But you wouldn't tell them that.) Air Force is mostly pilots, the rest sit behind desks (Chair force) Navy is all gay seamen. Who the fuck are the Coast Guard? That's pretty much it. It's nothing serious, it's just the general joke poking fun at the other branches. I respect everyone and tend to not say too much since everyone needs a job really.
Enjoy the shit pay man. I feel for you.
Why is the Army regarded so lowly in the US? Yeah.
Who the fuck are the Coast Guard?
What do you mean, all the presidents come from there! :v:
Also, if I'm correct this is what you'll be doing in the submarine electronics and computers field?
I instantly thought of this song when I saw this thread.

Your poo-hole is about to get a whole lot bigger. But so is your paycheck!

UncleJimmema, why is Army last on your list?
Your poo-hole is about to get a whole lot bigger. But so is your paycheck!
As an E-1 with full sub benefits it's only 23k a year?
Well from a marine stand point we think of them as pansys who are given everything as opposed to earn everything (you're called your rank day 1 of your 6 weeks of boot camp opposed to marines who arent even called marines until after the crucible. They made us earn everything we got, from the ability to blouse our boots to wearing our name tapes). They also are much less formal when it comes to rank structure, their uniforms are essentialy useless in combat (they're more designed for an office environment, as proved by their pen pockets on the sleves and legs), their PT consists of jack shit, they get hazard pay whenever they're not on an airforce base, and usually they try to one up marines all the time and fail horribly. From a normal person stand point ive got no issue. If technical work is what you enjoy and what you're good at than its perfect for you since thats primarily what the airforce deals with.
Thanks for the input, my father was a Marine aviator and he's been telling me a lot about it, however I figured the Air Force would be a better choice for my future endeavors.

The Marines will kill everybody inside and set up a headquarters The Air Force will take out a 5 year lease with an option to buy.

Infantry: Snake smells them, leaves area. An Army Airborne Ranger stands waist deep in the rain with a 25 kg. pack on his back, weapon in hand, after having jumped from an airplane and marched 30 km, and says with a smile, "This sucks just fine!" A Special Forces soldier lies in the mud, 40 kg pack on his back, weapon in hand, after swimming 10 km to shore, crawling through a swamp and marching 40 km at night past the enemy positions, says with a grin, while biting the head of a snake "This really sucks, I wish it could suck more....." An Air Force officer sits in an easy chair in his air conditioned, carpeted room and says to his friend, "Man.. Cable's out! This sucks!"
See the pattern? If you're not going career military, and planning on working in a non-security sector after, AF is apparently pretty decent.
Or you could let them pay for college and get a cushy desk job.

See the pattern? If you're not going career military, and planning on working in a non-security sector after, AF is apparently pretty decent.
Once again it depends on the job. Don't listen to anyone but military, or prior military. Just because there are stupid jokes about the branches doesn't mean they're true. I'm about to go work a 10+ hour shift in 98 degree weather fixing F-15s. I'm pretty sure that's not a damn deskjob. Also the AF is just fine for a career job.. and most jobs (Avionics, engines, mechanics, and anything in the cyberspace related fields for sure) WILL have jobs waiting as the come out. It's so easily transferred into civilian jobs it's ridiculous.
Once again it depends on the job. Don't listen to anyone but military, or prior military. Just because there are stupid jokes about the branches doesn't mean they're true.
Why not listen to non-military? Look up horror stories about recruiters.
Why not listen to non-military? Look up horror stories about recruiters.
Why? Because you just fed him some BS which is your opinion really. You basically shit on the air force and everyone else are combat gods. Look up TACP, CCT and Pararescue and tell me they're not bad ass. Air Force is fine as a career job, and it's really encouraged. Now, UncleJimmema on the other had can talk some shit being that he's in a different branch, and he'll have that rivalry of "USAF = Chair Force" but even we've talked and his jobs damn near the same as mine (although his is more overall and inclusive while I'm specialized in Avionics) I just think it's stupid anyone who believes that the Air Force is pure pilots and deskjobs. As for horror stories, I have one. My recruiter straight up lied to me about signing something, I did and got fucked for it. I left 7 months sooner and WAS not ready. Do I regret it? Hell no. I got in that much sooner and can get out that much faster. If you talk to anyone who's military they'll warn you, cause many people get screwed whether it's minor or major. Mine wasn't bad, but I've heard worse and we all (usually) know what to look for. Basically.. don't sign a damn thing without reading it.
Subs are very cramped lonely places with lots of men...Make sure you bring a ton of porno.
and a lot of vaseline
Yes and? Every job is stereotyped to bits, and of course they're not 100% true, that's why they're jokes, because they're wild exaggerations. Do recruiters work on quotas or something?
Don't go right now. Go to college first, get a bachelors in something you like. THEN join. When joining, you will have to opportunity to go into ROTC, which is officer training. When you finish college, you can get a bonus for going to boot camp (not necessary, but it's nice money and it will get you in shape). But the fact that you will join with a bachelors degree will mean they won't have to train you and you will most likely get a job in a field that you like (so make sure you went to college for something you liked). Another nice part, if you still have college debt, the military will pay for it when you join. Plus officers make more money. I was going to go into the military, but because I take prescribed meds and they don't allow you in if you take them. But I learned a lot about joining though, so keep this in consideration.
Your gonna sail the seven seas! Your gonna join your fellow man!
