Depends on what kind of drum sound/genre you're going for.
I personally use Microtonic and Drumazon (great sounding 909 clone), and they're both good for any kind of EDM music, but obviously sound (almost) nothing like actual drums.
That's cool, I'm looking for anything really I like playing around with anything that sounds cool.
Well definitely check out the Microtonic demo http://soniccharge.com/microtonic.
What's really cool is that there's this online drum pattern algorithm that the developers made, were people get to like/dislike patterns and the algorithm uses that data to generate variations and combinations of popular patterns/sounds.
It has gone through a few generations already, but it's still going on.
You can preview the patterns in your browser without owning Microtonic, but what's even cooler is that you can hit copy on a pattern you like and then directly paste it into Microtonic:
How old is the cymbal? Its high school so I wouldn't be surprised if it had been dented long before that but yeah its possible to dent a cymbal by playing to hard. Especially on thinner ones.
I'm also going to guess that your friend was playing hard and heavy with not so proper cymbal technique.
We only had the drumkit for around 2 weeks, and one of those was half term, funnily enough, the cymbal that we used to use was from a drumkit that has been there for at least 5 years, probably longer, and hasn't broken. Also, certainly not proper cymbal technique, he's not a drummer

A and Em
so it is dorian if you count the E as the tonal centre
or mixolydian if you cound the A as the tonal centre
[editline]7th November 2013[/editline]
actually i think the bass is playing a G under the Em chord so you could count it as a G6 or something
basically just A and G yeah

I just noticed that Facepunch collaborative VII isn't visible on the bandcamp site.
http://facepunchcollaborative.bandcamp.com/
But a straight link to it works
http://facepunchcollaborative.bandcamp.com/album/facepunch-collaborative-vii
Wonder if anyone can fix it? Who's the admin?
Goes for this one as well http://facepunchstudios.bandcamp.com/album/facepunch-collaborative-album-viii
Don't know if anyone can help, but does anyone know what exactly this genre of remix/music is? I've tried looking up Disco Tech but not really come across any remixes that sound similar to these two songs in particular.

Hoping to have some pictures next year when it's in!
Hello everyone... I am to the point now where I'm ready to take my music to the next level. I have been using FL Studio for about 3 years and I think it's time for bigger and better things. I want to start producing music with vocals used as well, but I really feel that a " DAW " Isn't what I need. SO, I was wondering if anyone could give me a few ideas on what i should look into purchasing. I want to get a synthesizer / piano that also has a complex system in creating and recording songs, with many different instruments and drums... I was looking Into the whole MPC thing, but i don't think it's for me. I'm not big into sampling, but I really need something that either has a built in mic, or is compatible with an external microphone.
If you're gonna record something, you'll need either an external soundcard, mixer or some other recording device. You'll need to figure out how many inputs you need. If you're not recording a drum-set, you can probably get by with just two mono inputs - or one stereo-input.
To connect your microphones the device will need to have XLR-inputs. Guitars usually need a 1"4 jack/phone connector - also called TRS-input.
There are soundcards/mixers that can output firewire or USB.
The M-box might be just the thing for you.

I've been looking a lot into these things lately, as I've been dabbling with recording my drum-set. This means having 7-8 microphones recording simultaneously. I've bought a mixer for this - the Presonus StudioLive 16.0.4. As for DAWs, FL Studio is very useful. I've been using it for years. The only thing I am missing is recording directly into FL. Might be possible, but I've been looking at Pro Tools anyway - which seems very well suited for recording live instruments and mixing a song from that.
I made the Blue Knights Percussion Ensemble. Kind of really fucking stoked.
Awesome man, I'd love to be in a good percussion group someday. I would try out for percussion in my high school marching band, but they suck and I don't have much patience with drummers that don't have any sense of rhythm
Not sure if this is the best place, but oh well.
I'm looking for a new drum machine. So far, all my home demos have been using just a simple standalone editor called "DrumTrack", which is handy because older Adobe Auditions can't handle some of the more popular VST(?)-based drum machines. Unfortunately, it's very limited in its samples. Are there any decent standalone drum machines you can recommend to me?
Battery is good
A lot of people here go by ezdrummer
I think someone like you asked about this a couple of pages ago, try going back a few pages
Just ordered a Zoom H2N, looking forward to doing some found sound and random recordings. Shits gonna be cash
I started challenging myself to learn one new random thing every night, either a new technique, a new piece of music, whatever. For some reason I've decided to record them and stick them on youtube, because why not?
It quickly degenerated into learning the background music from 16Bit Era Sonic games :v:
Yo guys, I posted this in GEM thread too, but I think you guys might appreciate that Chuckie included my track "Side Effect" in his latest mix (the "one more tune" section), I'm the final track that he plays, even reading out my name too :v:

Just got an H4n as a birthday present, kicks ass so far. I'm thinking of using it to record percussive sounds to throw into tracks, should be fun

Did you get the accessory pack as well?
Yeah it seems like you have to order the accessory pack because the package itself is really bare bones..
