Hey, I'm pretty new[bad] at producing and stuff like that. So I would like to know if someone wanted to add me on steam and maybe some times tell me about some simple stuff and where to learn etc.
Might be a bit stupid, but I have to try, right? :)
This reminds me, is the facepunch musicians group on steam admin or members still active? The chat could be kinda neat

Yeah we totally should revive that group, although there's not many of us around here we definitely should get together on steam more

Getting a band off the ground is really hard.
My friend is an amazing guitarist. He doesn't want to play in a band though, but I want to make a band with him. I had to convince him for months to put videos on youtube, he finally agreed

this section is super dead so no surprise
For several days now I've been having crazy lucid dreams where I just start making music randomly and it all works perfectly. I don't even know how to lucid dream or anything, it's just been happening at random. I've been creating weird abstract electronic stuff for like a few minutes and then the dream ends. Tonight I'm going to try and see if I can create anything and then re-create it when I wake up.
How do I get inspiration for writing lyrics? I'm okay at writing but recently I have just sucked.

Try to re-live a very emotionally moving/jarring moment in your life and write a poem about it that goes to a rhythm

Try automatic writing. Take out a blank piece of paper (or a blank notpad document), and write. Write with out thinking about what you are writing. Ignore spelling and grammar. Make up words. Once you have a page of words, start to pick out phrases that seem right.

Oh, hey guys!
hi

Or use the happy gilmore "find your happy place" theory, it genuinely works for me when I get writers block

Whenever my bandmate gets writer's block I come to his house and jam with him for a while. It gets the creative juices flowing.
Ableton Push has really gotten me on a creative spree. Too bad I had to drop like 1100 USD to get both the hardware and ableton 9 suite.

Push is fucking awesome. I love mine. Sooooo worth the money.
My home studio setup is VERY basic, and I want to cut down on CPU usage without sacrificing latency.
Is it possible for me to completely finish+mix background instrumentals, mix it all down to one songfile, then store it on a new file so I can lay vocals+additional solos on top of it?
so some guy asks if I want a mastered version of one of my already mastered songs... I agree to see what he does. it basically sounded like he slapped a limiter on the master, turned the gain all the way up, and boosted the highs. I told him about this and his excuse was that my song wasn't the usual genre he worked with :v:
he also says later that your track has to be around 0 dB all the way through in order for it to be put on iTunes
Hey, dunno if this is a good place to ask, but I'm looking for recommendations on good headphones for music-listening. The only brand I can think of is Beats, and I don't want Beats.
