Yeah I dunno if it's just me here but my asio menu has like settings down the right side so if I were you I'd just reinstall ASIO and give it another go
yea 4 days later and I still haven't figured out the problem (tried a reinstall too)
guess I'll just wait till I get a new computer
Hey guys, one of my guitars has two humbuckers and a single setup. I was considered placing a pickguard over with a gap for only the bridge humbucker. Electronics wise, how would I go about making sure the guitar used the one pickup?
Can anyone suggest me a tutorial on Fl Studio? I want to get into music production, but have no idea on how to start.

I only know of decent tutorials for Ableton/cubase tbh, but this is literally the best FL one you can probably find on yt

Varien's a kinda renowned dubstep producer on monstercat iirc

Funnily enough 15 minutes after I posted my question I stumbled upon that tutorial. Really good, he explains it very well.

I needed this
I needed this so much
I guess making music is partially feeling, partially theory, isn't it? I mean you can have your theory down to a pinch but if you don't have feeling for music how is your theory going to help you?

You don't NEED theory
but sometimes it helps
I found all the basics of FL studio were the easy part. The tough part for me in fl studio is mastering. All the people that do the premade songs in the demo do it fucking perfectly
Seamless' tracks have like no dynamic range and the others are from like 2009 and sound like trance from 2002
mastering in FL is the same as mastering in any other daw
...is dynamic range something we're trying to squash

What?
For anyone interested Image-Line released the first FL 12 alpha that you can download and try out (if your a customer)
Can anyone give me advice on mastering? I obviously understand that just linking things to the master enough, but what is it specifically that gets rid of heavy peaking? Most new projects I work on just have massive peaks for each kick and snare despite everything being mixed around. I've tried several things but I'm still getting peaks and whenever I don't get peaks its because the beat is uncomfortably quiet
example

You can control peaks with compression or transient shapers, however this will decrease dynamic range if you over-use it, so be careful with using it on your master. (On a master channel I recommend using a multiband compressor instead of a full on one).
I'm trying the best I can with compressors. Is this all down to experience?
The waveform can only tell so much about what it actually SOUNDS like, and yeah, you just need to read articles on the internet and experiment yourself to get the feel and general idea of compression, I know how it felt like 7-8 months ago learning it from scratch but it's actually a very interesting medium whilst also being extremely helpful with your mixdowns/mastering.

These 'peaks' aren't a bad thing, so don't try to get (completely) rid of them. You need dynamics in your track, or else it will sound harsh and tiring to the ears, and people will just simply turn it off after a few seconds.
Dynamics = the volume difference between soft and loud parts in your track.
anyone know where i can find this tab?

it was a test lmao talk about nitpicking
[editline]18th April 2014[/editline]
