Or MAYBE if I really can. This

Never played before but would love to start.
I would go for the touch sensitive as down the road you may find that you want to play quieter or louder at parts and you can't if your keyboard doesn't have different velocities also if you decided to use it as a midi keyboard midi you record in won't be so robotic and will give it a more realistic sound
I want to get into music composing using software but don't know where to start
I want to get into music composing using software but don't know where to start
How do you wish to write it? With sheets? Or placing midi notes on a grid?
i started at the age of around 9 by slapping down random notes and hoping they went together and actually managed to figure out a few things that way i'm 16 now though lmao it's best to have a bit of basic music knowledge (chords and bars specifically) to get started with a DAW though and it really, really helps
I really don't know any of those things
I really don't know any of those things
Learn an instrument (via teacher or online whatever suits you personally) then learn how to use a DAW (software used to record/write/compose/mix/master music) then smash those two pieces of knowledge together and start writing some tunes
you don't absolutely NEED to learn an instrument however, it just makes things make a bit more sense and helps you feel more legitimate i guess but it's really helpful
you don't absolutely NEED to learn an instrument however, it just makes things make a bit more sense and helps you feel more legitimate i guess but it's really helpful
Of course it's not a requirement but yeah I agree it's extremely advisable to know an instrument
plus dependent on what you make having the ability to play/record that instrument is p. useful
you don't absolutely NEED to learn an instrument however, it just makes things make a bit more sense and helps you feel more legitimate i guess but it's really helpful
Imo it's easier to see patterns in music when you can actually see what you're doing, and how it effects what the outcome sounds like. Then again, I'm more of a kinetic learner anyway so that might just be me. I'd suggest picking up a cheapshit kid's keyboard from a charity shop/ goodwill or something like that, i prefer using keyboards to my guitar/bass for composing because most DAWs use a piano roll style interface.
where could i post my thrash metal band's shit quality phone-recorded Metallica cover? here?
where could i post my thrash metal band's shit quality phone-recorded Metallica cover? here?
don't post it anywhere
okay i'm going to post it somewhere regardless of what that guy thinks. where?
In creative music in progress thread I guess but its kinda rude to drop there to post it and get out since we try to encourage giving feedback to others too..
oh blast it i'll drop it here since it doesn't really fit anywhere else this is literally from our second rehearsal as a proper Guitar-Guitar-Drums-Bass/Vocals four piece and we did it for laughs. the sound quality and quality in general is astonishing and Dead Madman no-one is actually forcing you or anyone else to listen to it at gunpoint

We all help eachother, and it all works out nicely:)
he literally told you to post it in cmip and you posted it here
People make mistakes bro, and you weren't exactly the most helpful person to him
he literally told you to post it in cmip and you posted it here
for the last few weeks you've been the rudest person in this section [editline]3rd June 2014[/editline] stop it
Someone is going through puberty. :rolleye:
I can definietly see why you're a fan of DeadMau5 :v:
Someone is going through puberty. :rolleye:
hahaha, nah man it's just common sense, if people direct you to do something you usually do it
I can definietly see why you're a fan of DeadMau5 :v:
lol i don't get it
For example, deadmau5 is a gigantic arrogant arsehole

And if you read the rest of that post I said I only respected him in regards to his music, and that i'm not a fan of his personality [editline]3rd June 2014[/editline] Right so you lot thought I was being rude; I wasn't, I thought "where could i post my thrash metal band's shit quality phone-recorded Metallica cover? here?" was a sarcastic post mocking the cliche of the other shitty metal bands in this section so I replied with a sarcastic comment I then thought it was stupid of him to have posted it here, I mean forgetting the fact that he even ignored CLung's directions, he didn't even feedback on someone elses track from cmip, expecting feedback on it

I don't think he ignored CLung's instructions, more that he was unsure. [editline]oh yeh[/editline] On topic, has anyone got any good drum samples for french house style stuff? Sort of Justice/ SebastiAn kind of stuff.

[editline]3rd June 2014[/editline] Also you guys do you think a sound design thread would be a good idea? Recreating sounds from tracks you like/etc. by request/purely to show off?

Also yeah, it'll probably help a few people get the right sound for something, see that dude wanting Reese basses like a page or two
A "how do you make sounds"-thread sounds like an awesome idea, there's one on SomethingAwful and it is really, really neat to read through, they usually get pretty in-depth on how to recreate sounds people want recreated. Plus yeah it gives you ample opportunity to show of your own skill, which I love, even though I myself am not really good at. Go forth and make the thread!
