Thanks man i'll give the aet filter a look
Definitely! Find a youtube tutorial because it's kind of wonky to get set up, but it's crazy powerful from what I've done with it. I'm really surprised that it seems to be a kind of forgotten feature.
Just given it a go - jesus man it's fantastic! Yeah it's a bit difficult to get going with, but this is exactly what I was looking for, thanks man.
So I am done now and I've been up over 24 hours. I'll upload some of the stuff I came up with. Basically I had to write in a genre I have little to no knowledge of, Southern Rock. I think the pieces came out good for me having to research the genre and come up with the ideas with merely 16 hours of work. [editline]29th June 2014[/editline] The Days that Go By - It was way different for me to have to think at a more basic level.
I really like it. There's no insult out of this, I think it sounds a little 80s. The constant guitar playing notes with a phaser or whatever effect you have on it. It sounds really good. Like a fresh version of classic stuff. And I like to think of Southern Rock being classic. It sounds really good.
Noisia have released their new EP today and it's top notch (of course..). https://soundcloud.com/noisia

Not sure if late, but fuuuuck this new Soundcloud app update. Completely lost the ability to read/write comments and there's no more record function. It's purely babby-interface for listeners. I won't be near the computer for a bit as well. There goes my C4C fun.
Is there a program that exists that can analyze two bits of sound, and then find a perfect point at which they could be put together without any clicking noise? If not, is there a program that lets me analyze a sound clip, tells me where the click is, and maybe even removes it one way or another? I'm desperately trying to stitch some bits of audio together, and I only have so much patience. Some of it doesn't even make any sense, although that could just be tiredness.
Is it ok to post songs from other artists that we feel deserve some attention? I've been listening to this guy's stuff since I was around 16. His older tracks were absolutely incredible in my opinion. Unfortunately, it was all on his Acid Planet account, which he deleted for some reason (he went by the name "The Rain Crow" back then). He never re-uploaded the tracks from that profile anywhere else, but he's on Soundcloud now with his new stuff. This is his most recent track, and it's pretty similar to his old stuff, which is why I'm gushing at the moment. I had a massive ping of nostalgia when I first listened to it. His music really helped me get through my depression during high school. His new stuff is a lot different and still pretty unique. But, my god, his old tracks were just truly magical. I think that's the name of the method. Though it might not turn out exactly how you want it to. There might even be a better method than what I'm thinking of. I'm not an audio engineer by any standards.

It's probably the best, lightweight, free software out there.
Just got the sub that pairs with my monitors + more acoustic treatment (some big bass traps for the corners) Being able to actually hear EVERYTHING at a nice even volume is incredible.
ughhh your studio is so dreamy
I love it :) I've been slowly building up for 5+ years now and I'm finally at the point where I feel like I've got all the basics covered really well. Always make sure to do lots of research and save for the higher-end stuff when it makes sense, and I'm glad I've done that. I've got a bit of a gear problem though because I'm already eyeing a bunch of crap I don't really need but that I want now. If I ever win the lottery I'm not going to be able to avoid blowing half of it on music stuff. The worst part is, I'm saving up for a down payment on a house right now and have enough banked that I can definitely afford a bunch of the other stuff I want so it's a constant struggle to convince myself that "oh that synth isn't tooooo expensive!" isn't the right thing to do right now haha. Wasn't even planning on buying the sub/extra bass traps any time soon originally but it was on sale at too deep of a discount to pass up.
I'm in the same boat, also saving for a house deposit. The temptation to go buy a Toft AFB is very strong indeed :v:. Half my income is from my audio based work so I can justify things a tad *too* easy (Some things are tax deductible as a business expense). I probably buy a microphone every other month at the moment, it's getting ridiculous.
Oh fuck I didn't even think about the fact that this stuff is tax deductible now that my buddies and I are running a label/club night... You might have just caused more gear problems for me hahaha
I think I'm turning narcisstic, I listen to my track "Black Magic & Vodoo Women" and I just find all these small things that makes me repeat those sections over and over again, thinking to myself "jesus fucking queen elizabeth, this shit so godfucking cool!"
So I made this for an album cover, but most of my friends did not like it. They said it was childish, which was off putting, points that I do see. However, I made the point that the album was a self reflection on my own suburban life, hence why the cover is to look like a picture by a six year old. I don't sell music nor do I intend to sell this album so the cover is more representative in my opinion than anything else. I'll probably make a few other art covers, but for now I'd like to here your guys' take on it.
I think it'll make people stop taking you and your music seriously
i dont like it it's not visually pleasing on its own and doesn't look like something a kid would draw, it's way too unorganic and just feels like it was someone lazily drawing a quick scribble in Paint rather than a kid with crayons putting their imagination on paper
I've got to agree, upon further reflection. I'll try and whip something better. Thanks for the feedback!
Buy yourself some actual paint and make a watercolour or something. Then scan that and use it.
Yes, doing it with the real deal is going to make it look a lot more authentic for sure. Look up paintings done by kids to get a feel of how you should draw as well, it can actually be tough to draw like a kid once you've grown up because along the way, you're taught to apply logic and shit on your thoughts and that can kill your inner child.
Pardon if this is the wrong place to ask, but i recently bought a guitar with the the intent obviously to learn to play, someone told me to learn tabs and all that fun stuff to begin with, does anyone have suggestions where i can find some good beginner songs? i've done quite a bit of scouring but i'm not quite sure.
Hey! Any of you heard Mastodon's new album? If so - thoughts? I dug the first single so much I decided to do a little old guitar cover of it. Your two cents on anything would be appreciated! This is also the moment when I realise that my guitar is irreversibly fucked intonation-wise on some of the higher notes. BUT IT'S METAL WHO CARES RIGHT? v:v:v
Is it possible to make a hardware switch on a midi controller that changes the function of a midi slider? Meaning, Pot A does Function A, but when you press the button, Pot A now does Function B instead.

Can't for the life of me remember what it was called though, I had to faf around with it a while back when I borrowed an oxygen 25 from school
Got this crazy 500 page book called the Arban Method for brass. I don't think I'll ever play through all of it. Gunna go sheet music hunting today.
so I'll leave this here.. it's a funk-rock band from a couple of friends, I hope ya'll like it.
