I was thinking maybe we could make challenges/comps in this section
Like make a short track using only certain samples, etc.
We did them years ago and it was super fun, we could even have polls voting for the best one.
Thoughts?

I might think of one this week and make it if I have time.
Maybe we could do something like the sample pack competition at /r/edmproduction.

Would be so sick! Would definitely freshen up the section
Anyone else been eying Serum? New wavetable synth from Steve Duda coming out sometime this month. Not much official news on it, but Duda's been pushing how clean the oscillators are. Deadmau5 showed off the beta a bunch in one of his streams, the wave-table editor in particular looks really impressive (kinda like Zebra on crack), plus it looks like the envelopes and LFOs are segment based so there's a lot of flexibility in modulation. Gonna pick it up as soon as there's a buy button

Hahaha I love how the comparsion pics gives away what the synths actually are by the font.
Cool so if anyone wants to make a comp themselves based on another one or you've seen or whatever go for it. I'm pretty busy the next few days but I can make one soon.
I don't want to shell out the cash for Fl studio. I don't make music often enough to warrant that.
So i just use the snipping tool like crazy and re-build songs if i ever want to add something. Horribly inefficient, but it's free.
$99 isn't a lot of money if you enjoy making music, I don't know how much disposable income you have but saving as low as $10 a month shouldn't be too much for even someone who is a minor. You can just get the program on trial and use that until you can play for it or Try It Out by other means and save the money and buy it at a later date.
Or just skip the whole money business and get it either way, making music is definietly someone everyone should do. :)
So some of you may find this slightly humorous. My music writing has swung me several dates over the past few months.

it culminated in me buying her a focusrite saffire for her birthday too, odd times
Have you guys seen this? http://www.native-instruments.com/en/products/komplete/keyboards/komplete-kontrol-s-series/
Looks really fucking cool, but the price...

And I mean there are a lot of midi keyboards that can do the same thing, just without the lights
I imagine that it comes bundled with NI Komplete though, so you get a bunch of cool VSTs?

Nope

so without komplete its a regular midi keyboard?
shit, for 427 euros you can get a legitimate analogue synth 61-key keyboard. looks like a huge waste of money unless you already have komplete.
Wow thats shit
Can any of you guys remember what this song is called? I was messing around on my keyboard and I started to play this, but I can't for the life of me remember what the song is, or who it's by, any help would be much appreciated. I know it's not a spot on recreation of the original, but it's close enough
The 8bit one sounds really epic for me. Nice one.
Anyway, a while ago, I released some trap album. It's got some influences from japanese pop culture and videogames. Yeah, might not be the best stuff on Earth, but I put a lot on effort on making it sound good. Specially that kick, that booming kick.
Plus it's free if you want to, still.

EDIT: OK wrong thread.
Thanks man! Had a few listens on your album and yes you nailed the kick for sure, sounds really good! In fact, a lot of the stuff sounds good, I don't listen to a lot of trap so I can't compare, your stuff is really solid nonetheless and you have one more fan of your music now. :)
My favourites are the first track Doraka something, and the one that starts with godzilla(?) growling, sweet stuff!

More concretely you mean "Dorakyura no jishin no geirabuhoteru" (means "Dracula's own gay love hotel" BTW) and "ゴジラ" (means Gojira/Godzilla).
Exactly :)
Holy fucking titballs, the lineup for Noisia Invites in london in October has been released and it's un-fucking-believable. I'm practically shaking with excitement, god damn. Anyone else going?

Madeon playing at Echostage this Saturday, not even an hour from my house. Should I?

Having friends that work at guitar center is the best thing ever.
About to pick up a brand new Moog Sub Phatty 37 Tribute Edition for $1019 instead of the $1499 because employee discount hookup is insane.

Hardware is awesome. SO nice to be able to not look at the screen. I've got a Virus TI2 too. Going to run the sub 37 through that when I get home :D
Music theory? Lol, i just type words like "Sex" or "Johnny" until something sounds nice. Then i turn it into a melody
i played around with a sub phatty at music store not long ago
it was so fun
