Didn't play sax for a week because I was abroad and now all of the sudden I'm playing entirely new shit. I love it, it's magic.
would anybody be down to write some lyrics for me? i'd write them myself but i can't for shit i suck had some friends gonna write stuff, but they fell through maybe i pay you? need lyrics for this
Do you have any set melody for it? Who would sing the track? Where is it supposed to be, the vocals? :)
Do you have any set melody for it? Who would sing the track? Could you post a sample of your voice then? And what range you have? :) [editline]14th September 2014[/editline] There's not really a good structure right now, when is the verse supposed to start? Where's the chorus? Where's the bridges? I mean, everything sounds almost the same all of the time and it is really confusing where you're supposed to put in the vocals.
ah i see i'll have a new version for you soonish [editline]14th September 2014[/editline] and here it is don't judge i'm sick
So I've always had a fascination in learning how to play music and eventually learn how to write it, but I have no idea where to start. I have a drum set and a bass (both instruments I've wanted to learn), but like I don't know what to do. My father's a musician, and I'd assume he could be helpful with this, but like what should I do? Should I get an instructor? It's something I'd really like to start taking seriously, like to learn how to read, write, produce stuff like that. I know it's hard and a lot, I just have no idea where to start and I'm probably really over thinking this.
Get your dad to teach you, I would assume he'll enjoy spending time with his kid :) As for writing, just start right away! It might not sound he way you want to in the beginning, don't let that discourage you though since every time you spend making music is one step in the direction of making even better music :) What kind of music are you currently interested in producing? There are a lot of tools available at your disposal for almost every genre out there and maybe I/we can help you in the right decision? :)

Wouldn't I have to learn music theory and what not to begin writing?
I'm not sure, I like such a wide variety of them. Wouldn't I have to learn music theory and what not to begin writing?
Music theory would definitely help you out a lot, but you could always just look up scales, and write using notes from them through trial and error, to start out.
I'm not sure, I like such a wide variety of them. Wouldn't I have to learn music theory and what not to begin writing?
Music theory will let you know WHY it sounds good and also it will make it a lot easier since you know what works, but it isnt necessary one bit. I think it is John Williams who don't know any muaic theory, and he seems to have writing music figured out
Getting twitter follows from artists you're really inspired by right after you send them a link to a new tune is the shit
Good news everyone! I updated the cover of one of my trap albums with some illustration someone made for me. http://jmaamusic.com/album/- The pixel illustration really looks good. What do you think of the new cover BTW?
Collaborating with Laszlo for a monstercat release :)
no misanthrop i am dissapointer
Yeah, literally the only thing missing. I guess phace will drop some neosignal stuff though.
What do you guys think. My friend is offering me a Ibanez Universe 777BK (made in 2000) for 1050€. He himself bought if for 1050€ from a musician friend of his. Only thing that's somewhat bothering me is that the musician friend of his had changed the original Dimarzio Blaze II Pickups to Dimarzio Air Norton (neck) and Dimarzio Evolution (bridge). Has a few small dents here and there, but nothing that will catch your eye unless you really look closely. The guitar sounds pretty damn solid and the neck is just awesome. Should I go for it or do you guys think I'm paying too much for a guitar that someone else has customized to his liking?

Anyone here using krk rokit 5s? i got them only recently and they keep just deciding to just cut out/turn off (I'm fairly certain it's because the socket i've got them plugged into is faulty)
Hey all! I've been learning guitar for like a week now. I added a piezo pickup to my acoustic guitar, added a simple preamp circuit, and now it's an electric guitar! Excuse my terrible playing, I just thought you guys might find it cool :)

Could be a protection circuit tripping if you've got em cranked too far.

I've been thinking of making a more in-depth thread for giving critique, at first I think the thread is just going to be me giving a pretty detailed feedback session where I really dissect a track, telling the artist what I like about it, what I don't like about it, things I might have done differently and also my input on the mixing itself. Would y'all use it? Been thinking a bit about the current WIP-thread as well, it works really well with everyone giving feedback, would people be interested in a post about giving proper feedback too? I like to think that I give decent enough feedback to people most of the time that I might be able to help others who might not know what to say, especially if it isn't a genre they usually listen to or work with. Personally I've done so much different music that I might be able to help give an outlook on how one can go ahead and feedback on stuff they don't like and things you can look for in a track so that even if you like your metal just like your coffee (black ofcourse) you can still find things in a fusion-avantgarde jazz trio that you can enjoy and maybe even apply to your own musicianmanship. Thoughts? How much would people oppose to start doing so that beyond giving feedack to others so that you can recieve feedback, you'll 'have to' feedback those that give feedback to you? Personally I always try to do so since it only seems fair, but could it also promote even more feedback given to everyone around?

I think it would do much more harm than good. Even a post about giving proper feedback is open to some risk. I don't particularly want to frequent a thread where I give feedback and then feel like i'm not a right fit for the thread because my feedback doesn't meet the proper standard of 'good' feedback. I like that some people in the thread can just say when they like a track. I like that there are requirements with feedback but I would not like to be in a thread which is exacting about when and where you get feedback or requires sustained commitment to the thread in the forms of giving feedback to someone who gives feedback to you and etc etc. Some people just want to drop by and that's fine because leaving feedback for a random song on the page only takes a couple of minutes. The current rule we have is enough imo.
The detailed feedback-thread is going to be just me giving feedback, so no worries there for ya :) Good points on the rest of the message!
The detailed feedback-thread is going to be just me giving feedback, so no worries there for ya :) Good points on the rest of the message!
That sounds nice if you want to do it, but are you gonna analyse every track posted there or do you think you should pick the ones that actually require further work and stuff?
I'll probably accept any submissions and write in-depth on them as long as they follow the rules of the thread and if I have the time available to do so.
