played a show with a friend of mine today at our school fair today.

it was radical, we only practiced over these last two days but it sounded pretty rad. it was the first show i've played where we mic'd the kit, but my friend that was doing the sound messed up royally and the snare was explosively loud.

anyways yea, my guitarist friend studied with professors at berklee for a few years before moving here and he played some insanely deft jimi hendrix stuff when they asked him to do star spangled banner

Worked out a real nice deal with my hometown's studio to get a 5-song EP done in July based off of my soundcloud demos.

I've got some ideas I wanna toss into some WIP demos, though I don't quite know how. Does anybody know of a way to incorporate wah-wah in a DAW? All my demos are DI for the sake of apartment peace, and I haven't found shit for Guitar Rig that isn't purely based on Rig Kontrol(external pedal which I do not have.)

All I've seen were the pre-programmed wahs. How do you set your own timing on them? I've looked around and everything I see is "hurr durr rigkontrol". Autowah might be a good temp but it's not really what I'm looking for as far as tempo.

what DAW are you using - you should be able to plug the Wahs magnitude into your DAW automation and just manually do it - not ideal but without buying an actual wah pedal you don't really have many other options

Hey guys, I've been experimenting with creating alien-like noises and creepy sound effects, and ended up making 4 variation of one scream-like sound (a friend of mine told me it sounds like the banshees in ME3)

I made this by making a squeeky "F" sound with my lips and then adding a bunch of EQ + distortion to it, whilst making sure it didn't sound [i]too[/i] ear rapey (it might sound a bit loud on your system so i'd recommend lowering your volume before listening (it sounds fine on mine however))

it doesn't sound very "natural" (i'm thinking it should sound like an alien but idk what you're trying to do)

I'd probably use a different low pass filter, one that doesn't cut the high end so much so you don't get that cheesy sweep

you could also try adding some final room reverb too i guess

Okay, so my university finally got around to giving me a recording of the arrangement I did of The Ecstasy of Gold from The Good, the bad, and the ugly. It was cool because I got to conduct it during the performance. It wasn't the best performance we could do on it, but it is still good. The other cool thing that I was privilege to have happen was my professor decided he was going to play the Cornet solo, which he did a fantastic job out everything on that performance.

Anyone ever used a professional mixing or mastering service? I get so frustrated with my mixes, whenever I'm proud of a new song I'll listen to one of my favourite artists and it'll sound awful in comparison, it completely demotivates me. I reckon having a track professional mixed/mastered will let me see the difference and understand where it is I'm going wrong.

Any thoughts/suggestions?

anybody have tips for finding drum samples? i feel dirty using ableton/maschine stock samples (which is probably a stupid mentality but idk) and even though i downloaded a bunch of drum machines sometimes i feel like my drums are getting stale. whenever i get to the part where i need to program drums for a track it really really throws me off just because i dread finding samples and building a kit for each track because i'm so inexperienced at it. anybody got any advice?
