Is it reasonable to release an EP with the current budget, garner a little attention, then add some more songs to make it a full album once someone makes enough to record more?
Anyone ever used a professional mixing or mastering service? I get so frustrated with my mixes, whenever I'm proud of a new song I'll listen to one of my favourite artists and it'll sound awful in comparison, it completely demotivates me. I reckon having a track professional mixed/mastered will let me see the difference and understand where it is I'm going wrong. Any thoughts/suggestions?
"professional" mixing and mastering is incredibly expensive
"professional" mixing and mastering is incredibly expensive
Yeah, I know. I have a musician friend who knows the owner of quite a large studio in new york, so I'll be able to get quite a hefty discount hopefully. I'm just trying to decide whether it's going to ultimately help me or not.
m8 do u even compress? I have a remix coming out for Bikslow's song "The Iron Giant" which got to no.21 in the beatport electro charts
Love Bikslow a ridiculous amount.
Love Bikslow a ridiculous amount.
Well that'll be awesome then :v: Still gotta wait for the other 3 to deliver their remixes, and it looks like they're taking their sweet ol time :C

i have a solid state head, no PA, no pedals. I figure a PA is most important out of all of those but i have a hard time deciding if a fuzz pedal or tube head would best augment my "sound" or "tone" or w/e you people like to call it
i think i would go for the PA first, but it's definitely worth investing in some pedals at some point
yeah. again im just wondering if a tube or a pedal would be better. i'll get both eventually but not sure which to get first. feelin fuzz but i think it might be kinda ghetto through a solid state
anybody have tips for finding drum samples? i feel dirty using ableton/maschine stock samples (which is probably a stupid mentality but idk) and even though i downloaded a bunch of drum machines sometimes i feel like my drums are getting stale. whenever i get to the part where i need to program drums for a track it really really throws me off just because i dread finding samples and building a kit for each track because i'm so inexperienced at it. anybody got any advice?
You should really try and make a kit yourself, it is a lot of fun!

It won't be high quality, but it's different I guess.

No sorry, you can always start by doing a simple kick with an 3xOsc, get a fast attack, short decay&release, EQ it so that the bass frequencies are high with no higher end (depends on what kind of kick you're after though, use your ears and fiddle with the EQ to get the tone you want), a snare can be made by doing the same thing, just without the bottom end and more mid/high with a bit of white noise layered, depending on what kind of snare you want. Toms are made the same way a snare is, only you really don't have a lot of white noise on top of it all. I don't think there's a universal rule for how to make a drumkit with the 3xOsc though, it all depends on what sort of sound you want from it!
anyone have any tips if I'm trying to get into the modding scene? I can write music and stuff, and I also have great quality microphones for VA and other live ambient shit. However I don't think I have the best tools for actually scoring a soundtrack at the moment. Could anyone give some tips, I'm really lost atm. Can anyone recommend any good VSTs (either free or... easily accessable to borrow) that mimicks the sound the hammond organ does? I want to make some sort of weird dubstep/70s/stoner crossover and I feel that a hammond organ is exactly what needs to complete this combination.

Anyone know if it's possible to route 1 track into 2 master channels in fl studio?
Anyone know if it's possible to route 1 track into 2 master channels in fl studio?
I don't think it's possible to have 2 master channels
Anyone know if it's possible to route 1 track into 2 master channels in fl studio?
You could route it to two send channels instead of the master, if that helps. Doesn't even need to be the specific send channels, if you press the button marked 18 on two other channels. Make sure you also turn off the same button on the master though, so it only goes to the channels you want.
I don't think it's possible to have 2 master channels
Meant mixer channels but thanks.
Can anyone enlighten me as to what the fuck "French Canadian School" Is supposed to mean in relation to music? Is it a genre/style? I'm late on a school assignment, and I recall my teacher mentioning the piece having to be influenced by the "French Canadian School". Naturally, I only find information about actual schools in French Canada when I try to google it. I'm fucking lost.
I suppose its...quebec music weird
Well, I got in contact with a classmate, and apparently it just means acoustic sounds treated with effects + synths.
