A song for a moderator is just a lame suckup and leaving out all the other moderators will invite unnecessary politics i really wouldn't mind collaborating with some people though that might be fun [editline]29th August 2013[/editline] maybe we could try a collaborated song somehow
I'm not sure I think the contest one like "Song of the month" or "song of the year" could have some potential and could actually help people around here improve in order to feel better than everyone else. We should assign like a set of judges to pick 10 tracks then have a poll of which one wins song of the month then each winner of each month is put into a poll every december for "song of the year". Could actually revive the life of mgr, feels so dead
its always been dead lol
Yeah but at least pump some kinda life into it with a contest otherwise it'll just be this thread where someone goes "lol how do i make x synth" or in cmip "hey guise my furst dubstup trek"
we've done contests loads they really don't do much for the section it just gives the regulars something to do and doesnt attract new people I figure that maybe a way to breathe life into the forum is if the forum stops being made up of 50 billion EDM producers as well maybe but noone can help that i guess
Any sax players out there? I've been playing Alto for 7 years now. Playing a Cannonball Vintage Reborn series with a Vandoren V-16 mouthpiece for Jazz playing, and my Selmer C-Star for just about anything else. Hemke 3 1/2 strength reeds. Absolutely love my Vandoren mouthpiece, the tone quality and volume you can put out with that thing are great. I've also come to find that I cannot play Selmer saxes. I tried out two of them and couldn't make any noise on either. But I really love my Cannonball.

We could do something similar, although we all do different styles of music, we could try all adding to the same piece, it could create some interesting results.
oh god I just went from some type of heavy-duty waxed(?) still string to elixirs, I feel like a fat dude covered in grease when I'm playing now. Five thousandth post

[t]http://www.gearnuts.com/images/items/1800/Axiom25mk2-xlarge.jpg[/t] this one is more expensive but all it has extra is pitch and mod knobs and a screen.
I've had Axioms in the past and they've been good. The more expensive one also has larger keys. I found playing on mini keys was annoying. Might be worth going to a music store and trying out a synth with those size keys.
Quick question, I'm trying to figure how that organ/synth sound is called that starts in the beginning of this tune and plays throughout the whole thing: Any ideas? I'm looking to get my hands on a similar sounding synth.
A rhodes played really low? I dunno. I'd try messing around with sines/triangles
As healthpoint said, it sounds like a rhodes, try some sinewaves in sylenth1 or something similar using phase (Or pitch, but I prefer the phase's sound) modulation and subtle harmonic distortion
It's a rhodes that has had its envelope fucked with
I just got my first great guitar, but I'm feeling so conflicted. The Martin I bought has an absolutely BEAUTIFUL sound, but a tailor I tried had so much more playability, now I've got the Martin and am feeling regretful of how difficult it is to play, even compared to my old crappy guitar. Will I get used to the feel of the Martin, or would the Tailor always be easier to play?
You will get used to the martin - often guitars with better intonation are harder so it will not only get easier but better sounding
You will get used to the martin - often guitars with better intonation are harder so it will not only get easier but better sounding
Thought so. thanks. [t]https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/41461189/drop/IMAG0675.jpg[/t] (Picture of said guitar) I mean her tone, sustain, overall sound (especially with the bassier tones, but there's also amazing treble on her, as well as the ability to play extremely smoothly) are all absolutely fantastic. Basically just an overall beautifully resonating piece- but a bit clunky physically.
after learning temecula sunrise in its entirety, tempo and signature changes and all, i finally figured out that songs dont have to be the same tempo thats kind of a revelation to me for some reason rofl
I just listened to Temecula sunrise and feel like I'm missing something because everyone in the comments loves it.
the song is meh it was just fun to learn by ear the bounces to dotted eights at the end of the intro riff is hard to get your head around and the whole song constantly bounces from swinging to straight tempo
the song is meh it was just fun to learn by ear the bounces to dotted eights at the end of the intro riff is hard to get your head around and the whole song constantly bounces from swinging to straight tempo
It sounds like it would be extremely hard to learn, but at least for me it's a little too discordant to appreciate.
Just ordered a guitar interface, running straight from my crappy practice amp to my pc was giving me too much feedback, so I'm just skipping the amp. [thumb]http://snag.gy/TGxkz.jpg[/thumb] Alesis iO2 Express Audio Interface
I really want to put a collaborated song on my EP, but I make ambient music. How the hell do you collaborate ambient music? just take samples from other songs? :v:
I really want to put a collaborated song on my EP, but I make ambient music. It's not a collaboration if you just sample them.
God damn I love this piece, it has romantic period written all over it. Although, it was written for a movie in the 40's made to sound like Rachmaninoff.
Quick question, I'm starting a project and so far all I need now for the cover art. What does everyone think when the term ; "Brain Damage" comes up? I'm a little bit uninspired, so sorry.
