Sure.
It's nice to see a intelligent debate (although an admittedly one-sided one) here on Facepunch.
guys did you know that if we all turn black there will be no more whites it's true
Fucking finally, someone who shares my view on religion and how it's not all bad. Yet, you have 70 agrees, yet whenever i bring it up i get shot down.
I'm Bisexual, so am I part of this here debate?
LGBT includes bisexuals.
i don't think the bible has anything against lesbians or transgendered people so that's why they're never really targeted.

then again i'm not a priest

That's because God is a dude, and therefor the sight of dudes kissing is totally faggy to him.
Chicks are hot though.
The whole purpose of life is to reproduce. You can't reproduce with some the same gender as you. We are genetically hard-wired to be attracted to the opposite gender and if you are not, you have a mental disorder.
Actually homosexuality has been linked to a genetic trait where an overproduction of a certain chemical in females causes a higher chance of homosexuality.
This usually happens when the woman is incredibly stressed, which causes the over production.
What is one of the most stressful things that can happen to an organism?
Overpopulation. This and other stressors cause the increase in stress that makes more homosexual people being born. A man had looked at pregnant women before WWII, During, and After WWII and found his hypothesis conclusive.
So, there is actual evidence to suggest that it is hardwired into a human and the biological function of homosexuality is to prevent overpopulation.
Obviously I'm not implying that homosexuals shouldn't be able to have children, because more often than not they are statistically better parents due to the fact that they must completely plan the adoption instead of having an 'accident'.
If god hates gays, why did he make Anal sex so nice?

the purpose of life is to do what you want to do
I don't believe in gosh or jebus anyway.
I said eariler, being 'incharge' of a child may make you guardian by paper, but by blood there is no connection.
You don't know what it is to love. Clearly you've never seen an adopted child reunited with their "true parents". I know this one girl, and she met her real mum and dad and she didn't like them. She loved her mum and dad though - your family is less about your blood and more about who loves and cherishes you. Anyone who disputes this must lead a cold and lonely existence.
I'm a christian, but I'm no where near extremist. Most may find it hard to believe I am, I'm for gay marriage, abortion, etc. And I don't run around trying to recruit people to Christianity. Most of my friends are Atheists, and they're pretty cool guys.
I feel ya man, I can't stand Christians who condemn people, I won't say abortion or homosexuality is right, but I won't say someone is going to hell for it, or hate them. Nor do I hate them, God will decide whos going to heaven and hell, and he says I shouldn't judge, so I don't.
Also, my anti-abortion views aren't from Christianity either. I just can't believe someone is that fucking retarded to not wear a condom, and a kid that could end up curing cancer has to die for it.
Unless they we're raped or something. In which case I have no idea.

That's a stupid fucking argument.
It's more likely that they're turn into another Hitler than end up curing cancer.
And what about in the case where it would save the mother's life?

What if the condom splits?
I would not hassle religion as much if the majority of the followers were open-minded and much like the ones you described in your post, but realistically this majority is not like this. If all the followers were for example of a Tillich mentality, it would not be as big of a debate as it is currently. The biggest influences of modern religion are far from the mentality you explain in your post OP and this is the problem. Now the solution is just infinite regress. Imagine explaining freedom of speech to Ruhollah Khomeini (if he was alive of course). People like this have more influence in the world than they should have and everyone has to deal with their radical ideas.
I said eariler, being 'incharge' of a child may make you guardian by paper, but by blood there is no connection.
My parents had to adopt me because my mom couldn't have a child. I am obviously no way emotionally connected to my parents at all, and they are only just in charge of me. There is no connection between me and my parents, and I hate my mom so much because I did not come out of her vagina.
Fuck you. I love my parents, because they love me. I could have two dads or two moms, and it wouldn't fucking matter. It's how they raised me. If I had two fathers, and they raised me right, I would be almost exactly the same as I am now.
Take your thick-skulled logic and unsupported statements and shove them up your ass.

The point is. The damn kid is a kid, and regardless of what he or she could turn out to be, he/she should still get a chance.
If it we're to save a mothers life, it should be legal. I would imagine most mothers would go through with it for a child. Who knows?

Once again, this argument is an appeal to morality that has no basis. What about sperm? How are they any less human than a zygote? At what point do you dictate we should assume they're a person worthy of support and rights?

My personal belief is that, through all of human history, marriage has been defined as a union between a man and a woman. I don't think anything or anybody is going to be able to change that, no matter how enlightened they claim to be.
However, I believe serious gay couples who want a lasting relationship should have all of the rights, privileges, tax benefits and legal standing of married couples. Marriage is most definitely a bond between a man and a woman, but I believe anyone who wants to devote themselves completely to another person should have the same rights and respect as anyone else who wants the same.
We can't redefine marriage on a whim, but gay long-term relationships should be valid as straight long-term relationships.

a) It's not a whim, it's a civil rights issue
b) Why not? We're the ones who get to decide what marriage is, since if there weren't any people there'd be no marriage. Ergo people can redefine it
c) Why does a marriage HAVE TO be between a man and a woman? Just because that's how it's been for ages? What if I said you couldn't start up an online business because shops have always operated offline?

I agree with EVERYTHING you said, but for argument sake...
Would this not be in violation of freedom of the press?
Everyone, including the press, is entitled to freedom of speech. The only fair way to fight it is by using your own freedom of speech, not by unfairly censoring them.

yeah, holding up technological and social progress for 1000 years and causing billions of deaths has definitely left us better off

No. Fuck your stupid traditionalist bullshit, because it's stupid as fuck.
We can redefine whatever the fuck we want whenever we want, and we should, and we had better fucking do it.
I agree with you.
Homosexuality is a choice, not a locked mind-set.
Hey.
Hey.
Guess what.
I was raised into thinking homosexuality is a sin, and that god hates fags and that he would send them to hell and whatnot.
I noticed I was attracted to men. I DID NOT LIKE THAT. I TRIED TO BE ATTRACTED TO WOMEN. I WOULD DESPERATELY TRY AND FAP TO LESBIAN AND STRAIGHT PORN TO "CHOOSE" NOT TO BE GAY, TO "FIX" MYSELF. I ALSO USED TO A RAGING HOMOPHOBE, THINKING THAT IF I HATED GAYS ENOUGH, I'LL STOP THINKING ABOUT MEN. BUT GUESS WHAT.
IT DIDN'T WORK.
Homosexuality is not a choice. If it were, I'd choose, and be straight right now. Not because I did not accept, or admit to myself that I was gay (I did this years ago), but because I don't want to be hated by people if they knew.
You can't avoid the fact that it isn't what humans are supposed to do though. If we all turn gay we'll die out.
but we won't all turn gay now will we
No.
A theory is something proven and tested by evidence and can be used to predict future outcomes based on starting circumstances.
What religion is is a hypothesis, an unproven theory, at best anyway.
As far as I'm concerned, at best, religion and spirituality isn't harmful. That doesn't mean it's beneficial, usually, it's a small inconvenience or a waste of someones time. At worst it is a huge negative impact on society, completely pointless and unnecessary, usually ending in genocide or unjustified hate.
he said theroy, not theory

My point is that because marriage has been thought of a union between a man and a woman for so long, it's difficult to redefine the practice because the concept of marriage as a straight relationship is ingrained very deeply in human society. Most people aren't as progressive or liberal as people on Facepunch are. I could start a movement to call black people "Ebonies", but people will still say "African" or "nigger" because that's the way things are. Bills for gay marriage fail because old habits die hard. Am I an advocate for gay marriage? I am, but very little progress is going to be made to reverse a principle that has been a cornerstone of modern social constructions for millennia.

Fuck them then. I don't care if they get their knickers in a bunch, they're stupid and I'm damn well going to tell them.
The point is, don't compromise, foo. These is changing times. Take advantage of that and don't pussy out.
What if the condom splits?
It's really difficult for that to happen. I even tried to stretch one until it did. Didn't work.
But yes it happens.
